<![CDATA[Special needs child is a child who has been delayed more than two aspects of developmental disorders or children who experience irregularities consisted of the blind, deaf, quadriplegic, tuna laras, retardation mental, autism and learning disability. Independence in personal hygiene can be instilled by parents, teachers, and their siblings. Research purpose was to determine the retardation mental in the childs independence in personal hygiene at yunior high school ACD Pertiwi Mojokerto city. The design research is descriptive method. population in the research were all of the students of yunior high school ACD Pertiwi Mojokerto city were 18 respondents. Sample of 18 respondents taken with total sampling. The data processing used editing, codding, scoring, and tabulating. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution. The result showed the majority of respondents in the category of less than 8 people (44,44%). And a small part in both categories as many as 4 people (22,22%). the rest is in the category of pretty much 6 people(33,33%). Many factors that influence of independent rank between difficult interacting, communication and action. Parents, teachers, and the surrounding communities to be more applicable to inculcate clean life and a role model for Special needs child.Keyword: independence, Special needs child, personal hygiene]]>
