Abstract

Modernization of educational boarding school, as a public institution such as agriculture, fishery or other institutions around boarding schools area have aroused the boarding school identity of as an educational institution for tafaqquh fi Al-Din and producing scholars. According to Azra, the boarding schools should provide an appreciation of all the developments taking place in the present and future that can produce knowledgeable scholars. Entering general sciences in the boarding school curriculums have caused problems in epistemology that is how exactly to explain the empirical sciences or secular sciences systematically. According to, Azyumardi Azra, the idea of orientation boarding schools on modern curriculum may need to be revise because these ideas will give the negative affect at the existence of the basic boarding school tasks. Azra expect that schools should be oriented towards to improve the quality of its student’s mastery of Islamic religious sciences. Using strict and rigid methodologies in the curriculum system that promotes cognitive mastery only, according to Azra it can cause the result in the formation process of the student’s character and personality have been ignored. Azra expect the boarding school retains its methodology is towards taklim and takdib learning, so that it can shape students to be a pious Muslim.
