This study aims to determine the understanding level of employee of the financial institutions or shari’ah banking in North Pati region about the murabaha system. According to the public view, there are no differences between murabaha and interest practice in credit system. This view leads to the notion that Shariah finance practitioners have not fully understood the Shari'ah financial system. This study took a sample of 25 Shari'ah financial institutions spread in District of Tayu , Margoyoso, Trangkil, Wedari Jaksa and Juwana. The findings of this study suggest that the understanding level of employees about the product or murabaha system is still low. It is caused by the background of education factor and the lack of effort of managing the financial institutions/ Shari'ah banking in providing additional education or training in the principles of Shariah, as well as pragmatic tendency in the recruitment of employees with ignoring of shari’ah competences.
