Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh Project-Based Learning dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa. Metode penelitian ini adalah mixed method dengan Embedded design. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa XI IPA 2 sebagai kelas kontrol. Analisis data dilakukan secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Analisis kuantitatif dilakukan terhadap data tes awal, tes akhir, dan gain ternormalisasi kemampuan pemahaman matematis, serta terhadap data tes kedua kelompok dilakukan uji perbedaan rerata antara dua populasi dengan uji t. Analisis kualitatif dilakukan untuk menelaah aktivitas guru dan siswa selama pembelajaran Project-Based Learning dan sikap siswa terhadap pembelajaran yang menggunakan model Pembelajaran Project-Based Learning. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran Project-Based Learning lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran ekspositori dan Respon siswa terhadap pelaksanaan pembelajaran matematika dengan model pembelajaran Project-Based Learning adalah positif.
The purpose of this study to determine the effect of Project-Based Learning in improving the ability of students' mathematical understanding. This research method is a mixed method with Embedded design. The sample was a class XI student of Natural Sciences and 3 as the experimental class XI student of Natural Sciences 2 as the control class. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Quantitative analysis was conducted on the initial test, the final test, and normalized gain understanding of mathematical ability, as well as against two groups of test data to test the mean difference between the two populations with the t test. Qualitative analysis was undertaken to examine the activities of teachers and students during the learning Project-Based Learning and the students' attitudes toward learning model Learning Project-Based Learning. The results showed that increased understanding of mathematical ability of students who get a learning model Project-Based Learning is better than students who had expository and Student responses to the implementation of mathematics learning model Project-Based Learning is positive.
