Abstract

Since the beginning of the Christianity, Gnosticism is a challenge to the Christian faith. The Churchs Fathers called gnostic a source of all heretics. Generally, gnostic has a dualistic system; good-evil, light-darkness, world of pleroma material world. The True God is completely transcendent. The universe is created by the lower God, and belongs to the material world. Human being is a composite nature, created by by the lower God but has a divine spark within. Through the achievement of gnosis human being can liberate the divine spark from the prison of the material world. In gnostic system Jesus Christ is a Messenger of Light who teaches gnosis to his disciple. His role is not other than a teacher who helps his disciple to know gnosis. Nowadays, gnostic system appears in some psychological practices, meditation and spiritual movement centered on the self-manifestation.

In the context of church life nowadays, a topic about prophecy and liturgy may be focused on the discussion related to prophetic liturgy. Is it possible that liturgy has a characteristic of prophetic? This writing is a research study to find the meaning and possibilities of prophetic liturgy. Throughout qualitative study and liturgy significance intensifying as the unity with God, we could analyze and explore the deepest relationship between liturgy and prophecy. By deepening a prophets role and how a prophet catch Gods will, this writing offers three dimensions of prophetic liturgy. The prophetic meaning and characteristic of the liturgy is demanded by the very nature of the liturgy itself.

Abstract

Prophetic function played important role in the Old Testament people as well as the people of New Testament. A prophet is a person who have particular gift to proclaim the will of God. Jesus is known as a great prophet by the people. His prophetic role leads Him to offer Himself to death, though He was raised by God afterward. It is true that prophetic function receded steadily in the ancient Church and the period that follows. But then, this function gradually regains its place in the service of the bishop as the guardian of the true apostolic faith. Particularity of the teaching of the bishop is that they teach authentically (LG 25). One of their particular teaching is to teach qualified as dogma.

Abstract

Prophecy and the law are two things which are very closely related. A prophets mission, among others, is to make sure that the Law, which is the gift of God himself, is fully understood and observed by the Israelites. This is the main task of the prophets and also that of Jesus as well. This law of love in the Old Testament received its basic formulation in the Ten Commandments and the Torah. While in the New Testament, it is elaborated throughout the Bible. The teaching of the Bible then became the basis for the teaching of the Church and its tradition, as well as normatively defined in the Code of Canon Law. The Law is not intended to negate human freedom. Instead, it is created to protect it and to guarantee the rights and responsilibities of each member of the community. To support this purpose, the system of sanctions and due canonical process was applied in the life of the Church.
