Abstract

This study discusses social capital mapping on local fashion creative industries and fashion festival in Trademark Market festival in Bandung. This study views Trademark Market festival as a social domain rather than merely economy domain which consists of social capitals that is worked for the concern of creative economy. Trademark Market festival played its role as a venue for local brands to do selling, branding, and social networking with other parties. This study applied qualitative method, in particularly ethnography. The data collection technique included observation, interviews, literature study, and documentation. The data is presented chronologically; pre-, during, and after the-festival. The study suggests three types of social capital building being the fashion festival: (1) bonding relationship that is sharing session among local creative industry actors, independent festival that is held by local brands, coveying information about fashion festival among tenants, and using friend’s merit as a catalog model, (2) bridging relationship, can be seen repeated orders by customer due to ‘Loyal to Customer’ vision, privilege for local brands to be accepted as tenant on curation process, and (3) linking relationship, can be seen on the recruitment of booth keeper by tenants and festival crew, by the trust of tenant candidates due to the luxuriousness of the festival, and also wholesale buy-and-sell transaction with the third party.

Abstract

Buku ini membahas keresahan para pedagang kecil yang mencari nafkah demi kelangsungan hidup di pasar-pasar tradisional. Buku ini terdiri atas 7 bab, dan setiap bab terdiri dari beberapa sub-bab. Adapun isi dari setiap bab dalam buku ini adalah: bab 1 menggambarkan nasib pedagang di pasar tradisional, bab 2 membahas pa-sar tradisional sebagai wajah buram negeri, bab 3 melihat pasar tradisional di luar negeri, bab 4 mengkritisi konsep pengelolaan pasar, bab 5 membahas pedagang dan modal, bab 6 menjelaskan cara meningkatkan harkat bagi pedagang, dan bab 7 membahas kasus Bambu Kuning Square (BKS) sebagai solusi pasar rakyat.

Abstract

Jamu jun is a traditional drink from Demak and is popular in along the north coast of Central Java. The ingredients of jamu jun are 12 natural herbs. One of jamu jun outlets is Semawis Market in the Chinatown area of Semarang City. Jamu jun can be classified as a beverage that has benefits because the ingredients used are natural and used to warm the body and to treat some minor ailments such as gastritis. This research discusses the knowledge and practice of consumption of jamu jun in the Semarang community by using a qualitative research design. The scarcity of jamu jun makes knowledge and practice of consumption of this herbal medicine needs to be discussed. The results of this research is both the seller and consumer of jamu jun in Semarang understand the ingredients, manufacturing process, and benefits of herbal medicine. The consumer also strongly believes in the efficacy of herbal medicine so they preserve the practice of consuming  jamu jun.

Abstract

Buku seri etnografi kesehatan ini membahas tentang perilaku seksual laki-laki pada masyarakat Irarutu yaitu membungkus alat kelaminnya dengan menggunakan daun tiga jari. Perilaku ini memiliki kaitan erat dengan nilai-nilai keperkasaan yang dianut oleh laki-laki pada masyarakat Irarutu. Perilaku ini memiliki beberapa dampak sosial, menimbulkan kerentanan tertentu terhadap kesehatan organ reproduksi, serta kerentanan penyebaran penyakit menular. Selain membahas perilaku seksual laki-laki masyarakat Irarutu, buku ini juga membahas kesehatan, program kesehatan, serta gambaran umum masyarakat Irarutu.

Abstract

Herbs and spices are common ingredients used by people for daily consumption and useful for maintaining a healthy body, preventing and treating various types of diseases. This research aims to see the knowledge of the people of Semarang in the Chinatown area in processing herbs and spices, as well as their practice in consuming these ingredients. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach, ethnographic design to describe in-depth and detail the knowledge and practice of Chinatown people in consuming herbs and spices. This research used an emic perspective: the perspective of the community. The results of this study found that the knowledge of the Chinatown community about herbs and spices is obtained from oral stories passed down from generation to generation (exemplified from parents to children), personal experiences, and stories of friends or relatives, and information obtained from the internet. Meanwhile, the practice of using herbs and spices is carried out to treat the illness or to prevent the disease.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how paddy lands convertion from agricultural to non-agricultural could impacts to the farmers household economy in order to fulfill their needs of subsistence. The research describes in detail how the impact of lands convertion to the economy of farmers. This research used qualitative method with in-depth interview and participant observation to obtain in-depth data. The study was conducted in RW 05 Dusun Sukanegla, Hegarmanah Village in Jatinangor from June until September 2016. The result of research shows that most of the farmers got an increase in income after the land convertion while the other experienced a decrease in income by a range of factors. The impact of construction in economic area is not always mean negative for farmers, but also can be positive if farmers are able to see the opportunity income from non-agricultural sector and less dependent on aid.

Abstract

The education of tolerance character strives for good ethics, mutual respect, and respect between students and teachers at school. This study describes the strategy, character of tolerance carried out by a multicultural and bilingual school in the city of Bandung. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data was collected by using interview and participant observation technique. The results show that the school implemented two strategies in building the character of tolerance in students, those are learning activities in the classroom and outside the classroom. Learning activities in the classroom are packaged in Rehbelik subjects, English, and thematic subjects. The activities outside the classroom are packaged in the form of performances, morning line, charity day events, and field trips. Both of these strategies describe a process of socialization and enculturation of the tolerance character in the cultural background of formal education.
