Abstract

Doctoral studies are changing worldwide, with growing concerns about doctoral graduates' employability and ability to develop relevant links with industrial challenges. The present study aims examine the impact of Design Thinking skills on PhD students on their future academic and professional performance. Drawing on 7 years of pedagogical experimentation, we conducted a mixed methods longitudinal study to investigate the perceptions of students who attended a two-day Design Thinking workshop. Two questionnaires, with a total of 40 items measuring the quality and course impact dimensions, were given to 415 and 41 students, respectively. Finally, 12 students were chosen for in-depth interviews to learn more about how they applied their newly acquired design thinking skills in their research and work. Our findings show that developing Design Thinking skills impacts the professional lives of students of all fields of knowledge, ages, and stages of their PhD. The primary outcomes mentioned are associated with increased creative confidence and collaboration abilities. This study focuses on relevant dimensions for designing and delivering Design Thinking skills within doctoral programmes, as well as the impact of design thinking on the quality of PhD education and student employability opportunities. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2023-SIED2-02 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

Objectives: The role of technology in modern life is expanding rapidly. Educational technology has emerged as a crucial component in raising academic achievement worldwide. Teachers all over the world are now focusing on it. Therefore, this study examined the teachers' perspectives on the ICT curriculum and its effect on students' eLearning skills in the UAE. Methods/Analysis: Researchers used a questionnaire to gather the data to learn more about how technology is being used in UAE Model Schools. There were a total of 150 teachers (60 female and 90 male) from three different Abu Dhabi schools included in the study. In addition, the study used descriptive statistics for the analysis. Findings: The study's findings confirmed that teachers at both institutions use technology in the classroom. Abstract

Students have always been looking for the best colleges or universities to continue their studies. These prospective students will try to find references by having one of them seek information from students who are currently at or have studied at the intended college or university. One of the factors they asked about was learning satisfaction at the intended college or university. Student learning satisfaction depends on several variables: student motivation, student responsibility, student courage in learning, and the lecturer’s teaching performance. Based on this, the present research aimed to examine the four variables that have influence on student learning satisfaction, individually and in a group. The research used a quantitative approach and was conducted on students and lecturers at the Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, one of the state universities in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan Province in Indonesia. The sample consisted of 83 participants, was studied using a descriptive correlational research model, and was drawn using a simple random sampling technique. Data were obtained through questionnaires and document studies and then analyzed using a regression model using IBM SPSS Statistics 20.0. The findings revealed that student motivation, student responsibility, student courage in learning, and lecturer teaching performance positively and substantially affected student learning satisfaction at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, either partially or simultaneously. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2023-SIED2-04 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

This paper investigates the psychology of change management involving a technological change in the educational organization and the administrative and teaching staff. In particular, the paper delineates the staff’s psychological experience regarding the incorporation of pedagogical and educational technologies. In this regard, this article provides theoretical support based on the stimulus-organism-response theory, technological self-efficacy, and technological acceptance model and develops a theoretical model. A quantitative approach was applied to test the model, and research assumptions were drawn from the aforementioned theories. Particularly, disruptive statistics and correlation analysis were employed to test the assumption empirically by collecting data from 500 staff members. The research results highlight that a psychological response serves as the antecedent of the effectiveness of pedagogical and educational technologies, whereby the positive psychological responses (happiness, inspiration, or drive) would increase the effectiveness, while the negative psychological responses (anxiety, stress, and discomfort) would decrease it. This psychological response depends on the perceived self-efficacy and perceived ease of use of the staff, whose lower levels of the two raise the negative psychological response. Abstract

The study determined the influence of the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) on the financial markets during the COVID-19 pandemic. It investigated if the CBDC had the potential to improve the efficiency and lending power of the financial system. The research relied on secondary data from a range of financial markets, such as the FTSE, MSCI, Gold Index, S&P 500, and Dow Jones, collected during the COVID-19 period. The quantitative approach was employed using the statistical software SPSS to perform descriptive statistics and regression analysis. The results revealed that the financial markets were negatively impacted by COVID-19, but the CBDC saw a higher level of development during the same period. The statistical analysis showed a positive and significant relationship between the CBDC Attention Index, the Uncertainty Index, and various financial market indices, with regression analysis indicating a significant impact of the CBDC Attention Index on all financial market indices except the Gold Index. However, this study has some limitations, including its limited scope of financial markets. Despite this, these results have important implications for academics and policymakers. Abstract

The twenty-first century is witnessing an increasing and clear interest in studying the relationship between student teachers’ motivation and their participation in professional development programs. This study was designed to find out the student teachers’ motivation toward participation in professional development programs and to identify the role of motivation in influencing the ambition, perseverance, and desire of student teachers to be effective and active in carrying out activities and tasks. The descriptive survey design was employed, 75 student teachers were chosen to participate, and data were collected using a developed instrument after ensuring its validity and reliability. The results of the study showed that the level of student teachers’ motivation toward participation in professional development programs was very high and that they are aware of the fact that professional development programs are the most effective means for developing their ambition, perseverance, and desire to participate in activities and tasks. Abstract

The goal of this study is to present the mixed Tukey exponentially weighted moving average-modified exponentially weighted moving average control chart (MEME-TCC) for monitoring process location with symmetric and skewed distributions in an attempt to significantly improve detection ability. With the benefits of nonparametric assumption robustness. The average and median run lengths are supporting measurements for assessing the performance of a monitoring scheme using Monte Carlo simulation. Furthermore, the average extra quadratic loss (AEQL), relative mean index (RMI), and performance comparison index (PCI) can all be used to evaluate overall performance criteria. The proposed chart is compared with existing charts such as; EWMA, MEWMA, TCC, MEME, MMEE, and MMEE-TCC. The comparison result shows that the proposed chart is the best control chart for detecting small to moderate shifts among all distributional settings. Nevertheless, the EWMA chart detects large shifts more effectively than other charts, except in the case of the gamma distribution, where MEWMA performs best. Abstract

Vietnam's economy faces many difficulties and complicated developments. To create an environment with favorable conditions for sustainable development, it is necessary to have innovative business solutions that not only bring profits for businesses but also solve environmental and social problems. In addition, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have made many positive contributions to economic restructuring, creating stable jobs for hundreds of thousands of employees and ensuring social security. Besides, SMEs in Vietnam have faced many difficulties and challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the papers' objectives explored critical factors affecting the sustainable development of SMEs in Vietnam. The authors applied two methods, such as qualitative and quantitative, with data obtained from 400 managers of small and medium enterprises and used structural equation modeling and SPSS 20.0, Amos software. The article's findings have the digital transformation factor's most substantial impact on sustainable development. The article's novelty is determined by five factors: market trends, state support policy, social responsibility, quality of human resources, and digital transformation. Abstract

The Takagi Sugeno Kang (TSK) fuzzy approach is popular since its output is either a constant or a function. Parameter identification and structure identification are the two key requirements for building the TSK fuzzy system. The input utilized in fuzzy TSK can have an impact on the number of rules produced in such a way that employing more data dimensions typically results in more rules, which causes rule complexity. This issue can be solved by employing a dimension reduction technique that reduces the number of dimensions in the data. After that, the resulting rules are improved with MBGD (Mini-Batch Gradient Descent), which is then altered with uniform regularization (UR). UR can enhance the classifier's fuzzy TSK generalization performance. This study looks at how the rough sets method can be used to reduce data dimensions and use Mini Batch Gradient Descent Uniform Regularization (MBGD-UR) to optimize the rules that come from TSK. 252 respondents' body fat data were utilized as the input, and the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) was used to analyze the results. Jupyter Notebook software and the Python programming language are used for data processing. Abstract

Model evaluation is a cornerstone of scientific research as it represents the findings' accuracy and model performance. A case study is commonly used in evaluating software engineering models. Due to criticism in terms of generalization from a single case study and testers, deciding on the number of case studies used for evaluation and the number of testers has been one of the researchers’ challenges. Multiple case studies with multiple testers can be difficult in some domains, such as penetration testing, due to the complexity and time needed to prepare test cases. This study aims to review the literature and examine the evaluation methods used pertaining to the number of case studies and testers involved. This study is beneficial for researchers, students, and penetration testers as it provides case study design steps that are useful to determine the appropriate number of test cases and testers required. The paper's findings and novelty highlight that a single case study with a single tester is enough to evaluate a model.
