Abstract

E-Learning nowadays is still accessible via the web browser. E-Learning has a server named Learning Management System (LMS). LMS consists of a paid, unpaid and a tailor (version specially ordered). For this research, LMS is used which is not paid. There are lots of LMS are not paid, one of these is Claroline. The development of E-Learning is followed by the development of mobile devices such as Android devices. Android usage has increased each year but applications for E-Learning are still underdeveloped. Based on this background, then it is needed to develop an E-Learning application on Android mobile devices, because Android devices can support the development of client applications of E-Learning. The purpose of developing this application is to enable users who use Android devices to download the file from existing lecture materials wherever, whenever they want through their Android devices.In this research, the application is developed using Eclipse as an IDE using Java programming language for Android, XML, and of course the Claroline as the LMS server. This application is the complement of Claroline which is normally access through a web browser.The results of this research show that the client application is able to download files that exist on the lecture materials from Claroline server. Keywords : E-Learning, Android, Learning Management System, Claroline, Mobile Application, E-LearningApplication

Abstract

This study implements the Quine McCluskey method to minimize the Boolean function. There are several methods can be used in the minimization of Boolean functions. Afrisal [1] conducted a study to apply the Karnaugh Map method. Tomaszewski [4] applied the Quine McCluskey method to make program to simplify Boolean Algebra with a maximum input function at most 4 variables which are initialized before. In this study, the Quine McCluskey implemented in the program and it can simplify the input function with a maximum length of 26 variables. That input can be entered directly via keyboard.Keywords: efficiency; minimization of Boolean Algebra; Quine McCluskey method.

Abstract

The remarkably development in science and technology influences the business trend. One of the mode of businesses that are used widely nowadays is vending machine. Vending machine is a machine that is able to serve client for food, drink and others after the costumers put money into machine slot. This research discusses about an application of coffee vending machine that can make variation of coffee and optimalize output of the money. In making this application, Finite State Automata (FSA) is applied to handle the problem for recognize language in making a drink and MOW algorithm used to optimalize output of  money in transaction processing. Keywords : Coffee Vending Machine, Finite State Automata, Optimalize,   Algorithm

Abstract

Nowadays, football is not just a sport performed by humans. The development of football has offered a variety of integration technologies in diverse of forms such as ball type, shoes, games, etc. The game that associated with football is now in a great demand by many people, such as PES 2013. Football game needs game strategies that determine the success of the game. Recently, one of the great team that has won numerous competitions is Barcelona FC. This club has interesting features and powerful enough to win the game. The unique feature is 'Barca style', which is the short passing between players. Basically there are three main roles in the game of football which are the player who controlled the ball, a player that supports the movement of the player who had the ball, and the opposing player trying to snatch the ball. In order to find solutions to address the characteristics of the ‘Barca Style’ we represent the game as mathematical model and design a simulation that uses a strategy game guarding one on one, and the total survival strategy against the strategy of 'Barca style'.

Abstract

The development of technology which are grow faster requires any person or institutions to do their job quickly. Payroll system is one of many important things at any institution. To calculate employee’s salary accurately and quickly a computerized system is need. Kantor Pelayanan Kekayaan Negara dan Lelang (KPKNL) in Metro City is an institution that is responsible to the community services. The process of payroll system on this institution has been done using computer in semi manual way. Therefore this institution needs a computerized system that could calculate employee salary automatically. On this research was made a payroll system that integrated with crystal report of finger print attendance system. Payroll system can convert data from crystal report of finger print attendance systems for calculate the salary of employee. In addition, the system can cut withholding tax, cut delay or go home before time home, and presenting more detail attendance and salaries recapitulation report of employees. This research used visual basic 6.0 as programming language, MySQL as database, and  crystal report to perform reports. The method of development system that used in this research is waterfall method. The result of Black Box Testing showed that payroll system has been successfully built according to user requirement.

Abstract

AbstractThe condition of a location can be seen and known through a map. Even though The University of Lampung has a campus map in a form of paper, still the data displayed in this form is very limited. This map has not been used to display information related to the existing facilities and personnel of the University of Lampung. This research design a web based Geographic Information System (GIS) focusing on information of lecturer and his/her department unit. This web based GIS can be used as a tool for visitors and academics to obtain information on faculty unit, building, facilities, as well as the map of the University of Lampung. This web based GIS is developed using several open source software which are QuantumGIS, MapServer, Pmapper Framework and MySQL database. Pmapper Framework increase  speed, accuracy, convenience and consistency in the development of applications that use MapServer.Keywords : facilities, map, MapServer, Pmapper framework, The University of Lampung, web based GIS.

Abstract

GNU/Linux is an operating system that allows the users to build or develop their own operating system. There are two methods that can be used, Remaster and Linux From Scratch. The difference is the LFS method builds a system from zero while Remaster using existing Linux distributions [4]. The goal of this research is to investigate the steps of building Linux base operating system using LFS method. The operating system has been built successfully and can be used to fulfill the daily needs such as playing music or video, browsing, programming, and other tasks.Keywords: GNU/Linux, Linux From Scratch, open source, operating system

Abstract

Samba is an application that can connect two different operating system platforms. This application created in order to computer Linux, Unix, or BSD so that can be used as a Samba file server-based protocol, so Windows-based computers can access it. Samba server is implemented in the Laboratory of Computation, FMIPA University of Lampung as a means to facilitate access data or files for instructors, assistants, and practitioners. Using Samba server for file sharing can give problems in accessing, storing, and managing data or files because many users are accessing the system on a computer network so that the database server is messy. Considering these problems, the PDC is required as a file server. One purpose of this paper is to apply the Samba server as a PDC centrally in Laboratory of Computation , FMIPA University of Lampung. Based on test, the Samba server as a PDC has been successfully applied so management, storage, and transmission of data becomes easier, the problem was resolved.

Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelago country that has a strategic geographical location with many ethnic groups. One way to preserve art and culture in Indonesia is to teach and introduce them to the next generation. Starting from elementary school children have been taught to know Indonesian arts and cultures from text books. Unfortunately, the learning is less interesting because the subjects are delivered in monotonous and conventional way. On this research, an interactive learning system is developed. The developed Web based-GIS system covers introduction of arts and cultures of 33 provinces in Indonesia. Data used in this research is obtained from art and culture book and the official website of Indonesian cultures. The system was implemented using softwares of ArcView, MapServer, MySQL database and PHP programming language. The research results showed that this learning system can provide information from each province in Indonesia based on the category selected by the user. This system can display  information in form of pictures of traditional houses and weapons and video of the related cultures. Moreover, this system also helps students to understand more the material by using  it’s quiz tool.

Abstract

Nowadays, the traffic control system already done computerized. However, usually the system is set without considering density of the changing vehicles. In this research, an algorithm developed to solve the problem of traffic control is still constant and manual (fixed time traffic). The algorithm is called Miloza algorithm. Miloza algorithm is an algorithm used to find the optimum solution of traffic control based on density characteristics of the vehicle. The purpose of this research is to make a simulation of automatic control system for traffic light with density characteristics at the three and four junctions using MilozaAlgorithm as an alternative solution. The simulation application is made using visual basic programming language and the method of application development used is prototype method.Keywords: traffic control, algorithm, simulation
