Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is still a major health problem among children under 5 years old. One of the clinical manifestations besides cough, sore throat, and fever is sleep difficulty. Sleep is essential for children to support growth and development. The supportive management for babies with ARI is the baby massage. However, most parents view that sleep disorder is not a big problem. This study aimed to see the effect of baby massage on sleep quality for infants under 12 months diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI). This research is a quantitative perspective using a quasi-experimental study. Respondents were divided into control and intervention groups, with 60 respondents, 30 control groups and 30 intervention groups. Data was collected before and after the baby massage intervention. Instruments were used: The Brief Infant Sleep Questionnaire (BISQ-R) tool with a total of questions is 19 distributed in 3 subscales consisting of Infant Sleep, Parent Perception, and Parent Behaviour with the r-test retest (r >.82) indicating high correlations. Data were analyzed using bivariate calculations. Based on the results, the baby's mean age is 7.77±3.29 and is mostly boys. The independent T-test shows a significant effect in the intervention group before and after a baby massage from 60.50+-8.29 to 77.75 ± 9.98. with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). Massaging children in the intervention group twice a day, morning and evening, improves sleep quality among babies with ARI; therefore, a structured operational procedure should be implemented in the children's ward, and pediatric nurses must also be skilled with baby massage.

Abstract

Pregnant women were recognized as a at risk population and recommended for self-isolate to decrease potential infected of the virus Covid-19. The aim of this study was to identify the effect and influences factor to achieve recommendation level of physical activity of pregnant women during Covid-19 pandemic. A community internet-based survey was conducted with 300 randomly selected pregnant women who required antenatal care at midwives and gynecologists in Makassar City, Indonesia. Physical activity levels were assessed using standardized Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire. The multivariable logistic regressions were used to assess the influences factors associated to achieve recommendation level of physical activity of ≥ 600 MET minutes per week of pregnant women. The logistic regression model was applied to assess the influences factors to achieve recommended level of physical activity of ≥ 600 MET minutes per week among pregnant women. The pregnant women with a higher secondary or above degree were 3.23 times more likely to be achieve recommendation level of physical activity, compared to those with primary or below education (OR = 3.23, 95% CI: 2.20 to 4.73, p=0.001). Pregnant women need to be better informed about the positive effects of PA during pregnancy. Health care provider should develop some program to advise and support pregnant women to improve their PA level.

Abstract

A bag valve mask (BVM) is a tool that provides basic life support measures for ventilation assistance. The effectiveness of providing ventilation assistance can be influenced by the accuracy of the timing of ventilation to minimize the risk of hyperventilation. This study aims to analyze current research themes and trends in the global use and adaptation of BVMs. The research design used descriptive analysis with a bibliometric analysis approach through the Publish or Perish and VosViewer applications. The article search period used was 2000-2023 from the Scopus and PubMed databases and continued with a trend analysis of the topics studied. The results of article searches that have been carried out on the Publish or Perish application obtained 193 articles that discuss BVM since 2000-2023 based on the Scopus and Pubmed databases. There are 3 clusters of research topics, namely, the comparison of the use of BVM with other tools in the ventilation or oxygenation process, the use of BVM in the intubation or induction process, and research related to the effectiveness of BVM tools modified with different techniques or shapes. According to the results of the bibliometric analysis, 193 articles are related to the topic of BVM. Currently, research on BVMs consists of comparison, effectiveness of use, and process actions that involve BVMs. However, research has yet to be conducted on BVM modification. This is a great opportunity for researchers to conduct innovative research to develop BVM with various facilities that can support it.

Abstract

The latest data shows an increase of 35% in the case of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia (VAP). The incidence of VAP in the intensive care unit can be minimized with a bundle of VAP. The success of the bundle VAP can be achieved through compliance in maintenance. The nursing profession tends to have a high workload, which can have a negative impact on patient care. This study aims to identify the relationship between the nurses' workload and compliance with the implementation of the Bundle VAP in the intensive care unit. This research method uses a quantitative approach with cross-sectional designs. The sampling technique uses a total sampling with a total sample of 38 intensive room nurses. The data collection method in this research is an online questionnaire consisting of the NASA-TLX questionnaire and the VAP bundle implementation compliance questionnaire. The results of Chi Square's analysis showed a significant relationship between the nurse's workload and compliance with the implementation of the Bundle VAP in the intensive care unit with a sig. Value of 0.000 (P<0.05). Nurses with a high workload have a higher risk of not complying with the implementation of the VAP bundle than nurses with a medium workload. Efforts are needed to improve the VAP prevention training program, provide education for managing workloads, and create a strong teamwork culture.
