Abstract

Kulon Progo Regency is one producer of soybeans in D.I. Yogyakarta. The research aims to find out the result of soybean and farmers perception on soybean production technologies with an approach of integrated crop management (ICM) in Kulon Progo. The research was conducted in April-November 2013. 10 soybean varieties were planted to determine the level of productivity. Pattern and timing of planting explored through interviews with farmers and field inspections. Interviews were conducted with farmers to determine the perceptions of soybean production technology with the approach of integrated crop management (ICM) and in particular soybean varieties. The data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed in Kulon Progo Regency soybeans planted in irrigated land, rainfed lowland and upland, adjust the availability of water. Soybean production technology is not implemented by farmers as a whole, depends on the conditions of agro-ecosystems and agricultural inputs. In general, farmers agree with soybean production technology components with the approach of integrated crop management (ICM). Some farmers do not agree with the manufacture of drainage, mulching straw and harvest when 95% of the leaves have yellowed. Varieties Detam-2, Ijen and Tanggamus more adaptive and give higher yields. However, soybean farmers in Kulon Progo Regency prefer largely seeded soybean as Argomulyo and Burangrang. Gema varieties favored for short-lived.

Abstract

Fresh milk is highly nutritious food because its contain substances that complete food. The high nutritional value of milk causes a media which is preferred by the microorganisms to grow and develop in a very short time become unfit milk consumed when handled incorrectly. Safety milk from contamination during the distribution process becomes very important because of a race against time. Considering the conditions on the farm people milk distribution process normally without treatment (cooling), so that the required distribution by the shortest route, the fastest time and low cost. This study aims to minimize lines and distribution costs of fresh milk as marketing efficiency efforts. The research location is taken purposively based on the consideration that the District Mojosongo has the second largest population of dairy cows in Boyolali. The analytical method used is the analysis of marketing costs, margins and profit marketing, marketing efficiency and Traveling Salesman Problem analysis to determine the shortest distance, fastest time and lowest cost. Fresh milk marketing channels used dairy producers in the district Mojosongo there are three channels following the channel I: Farmer to Consumer, Channel II: Farmers to Traders collector to Consumer and Channels III: Farmers to Traders collector to wholesaler to the milk processing industry. Channel I is the most efficient marketing channel because this channel sells directly from farmers to consumers. The most effective marketing channels using the Travelling Salesman Problem is the distribution channels II because this path has the shortest distance, fastest time to maintain the quality of fresh milk and cost efficiency.

Abstract

The study aims to determine the effect of compatibility level to the intergeneric crossing ability and the age of the flower blooming of Vanda sp and Phalaenopsis sp. Research was conducted at a screen house and Plant Breeding Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture, Sebelas Maret University. Crossing is done by inserting pollen of male parent to the stigma of the female parent which were selected based on a predetermined number of crosses. The observations included: percentage of successful crosses, time of fruit formation, durability of hanging fruit, the percentage of fruit ready for harvest, the percentage of the fallen fruit, and the level of compatibility. The study concluded that the intergeneric cross between Vanda sp and Phalaenopsis sp can be done until the age of 3 weeks after the flowers bloom. The fruit begins to form at the age of 6-12 day after crosses (DAC) and can be harvested after reaching the age of about three months. The intergeneric cross between Vanda sp and Phalaenopsis sp is compatible, because this was capable of producing the fruit of more than 60%.
