Abstract

The variability and complexities of limiting factors in development have been exist in community. Works in agriculture sector need lot of attention in development plan. Therefore, it needs a concise study of constraints and future agriculture development. A descriptive study and FGD technique and snowball sampling method were used to approach local community in gaining related information. The findings reported that the primary constraints hampered local communities were farmers’ motivation, state officers’ performances, and capital investment performances. The available quality seeds and breeds will have strategic position in planned agriculture development.

Abstract

Strawberries (Fragaria x ananassa) are one of the horticultural commodities which have a high production and nutritional value. However, strawberries susceptible to loss of quality during postharvest. Changes in the quality of strawberries among others physical, chemical, and microbiological. Therefore, strawberries are required handling during storage with packaging. Active paper packaging based on oleoresin of ginger dreg 2% containing active substances that inhibit the growth of microbes. This research uses current active paper packaging based on oleoresin ginger dreg as a packaging of strawberries. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of using active paper packaging based on oleoresin of ginger dreg on the quality of strawberries during 12 days of storage at 10 ± 2 ºC. Results of ANOVA analysis with 5% significance shows that the use of active paper packaging based on oleoresin ginger dreg effect on weight loss strawberries for 12 days of storage, color of red on the 3rd, 9th, and 12th day of storage, total acid titration on the 12th day of storage, total dissolved solids on 9th and 12th day of storage, and vitamin C on the 12th day of storage. The hardness and pH value are not affected by the current active paper packaging based on oleoresin ginger dreg during 12 days of storage. Total microbial of strawberries with active paper laying variation has a total microbial lower than strawberries control.

Abstract

Core sampler (CS) is a tool to get indivual cane sample on the truck to determined rendement. Dissemination process of CS in Bungamayang SF on 2014 had focussed by: (1) application concept of individual system by determine the CS on first step (transition step), and (2) socialization to cane farmer about awareness of individual rendement system,  to get the cane farmers responses to determie individual rendement by CS. The aim of the dissemination is do socialization to the farmer about rendement determine system by CS. The steps of the socialization are socialization of rendement determine system by CS to SF’s staff and cane farmers before milling season; to set the application concept of CS determine rendement individual system; assistance and evaluation.  Socialization had done to the cane farmers at Bungamayang SF, the responses had measured by quesionare at step socialization and had analyzed descriptifly. The number of truck had evaluated are 4.947. The meeting with farmer group coordinator, staff of agricultural division, and managers of pabrikasi agree that determine of CS individual rendement system had applicated as base of payment to farmer at 2014 milling season. The 62,64% of respondent  agreed with rendement that they reach, because corresponding with cane agricultural that they done, the figure of cane had been harvested, and the rendement is higher than milling season before. Rejection of CS’s rendement is 37,36%, because they feel that they was done the good agricultural and they know that the miller often trouble. The way of the farmer group chairman deliver explanation about rendement was correct: to motivate cane farmer to revise agricultural so that reach higher rendement (38,49%) and rendement fix to the quality of cane (22,64%). The result of socialization show that cane farmer at Bungamayang SF know the fuction of  CS, the work of CS, and CS system is worthy to solve the problem of rendement measurement.

Abstract

Indonesia has a high diversity of species of orchids. One of them is the Dendrobium orchid. Orchid seeds do not have endosperm should be grown in a medium that has enough nutrients. Orchid propagation in vitro is strongly influenced by the composition of the medium used. Research through experiments aimed at studying the effect of NAA, BAP, NAA and BAP combination of the subculture plantlets growth of  hybrids orchid Dendrobium biggibum X liniale in Vacin Went media. Research conducted at the Laboratory of Tissue Culture Center for Plant Conservation Bogor Botanical Gardens. The experimental design used was completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors. The first factor was the concentration of Naphthalene Acetic Acid /NAA ( 0 ppm, 1 ppm, 3 ppm and 5 ppm). The second factor  was the type media of Benzyl Amino Purine /BAP ( 0 ppm, 1 ppm, 3 ppm and 5 ppm). Each treatment was replicated eight times. Analysis of the data by F test level 5% and if there is a significant difference continued with Duncan Multiple (Duncan's Multiple Range Test) level of 5%. The result showed that the addition  of NAA 3 ppm as much as 4,96 cm  and BAP 3 ppm as much as 4,41 cm  give a significant effect on the increase of high plantlets and  so NAA 3 ppm as much as 5,76 cm  effect  on  roots length , but did not significantly effect the number of leaves and roots.

Abstract

Soybean farming carried out by farmer in Bantul Regency D.I. Yogyakarta. Pesticides still important in securing the soybean production of plant pests. Some farmers in the extreme assumes that pesticide with dose and high frequency can improve yields. The research was conducted in Bambanglipuro and Srandakan Bantul D.I. Yogyakarta on April to October 2012. The research aims to identify the use of pesticides in farming soybeans, soybean production and farmers income as well as pesticide residues in soybean dry seeds. Interviews were conducted with farmers, include the use of pesticides, soybean production and farmers income. Aside from interviews with farmers, pesticide usage data is also derived from used packaging were found at the site. Soybean dry seeds were taken from the site of the most intensive in the cultivation of soybeans and analyzed pesticide residues. The results showed that soybean farmers use pesticides in farming. Abstract

Rice husk ash is now mostly used as rub ash. Rice husk ash contains very high silicate that is needed by cereal crops, especially rice plants. The purpose of this study to examine the use of rice husk ash in increasing the production of rice plants, that can be used to support the empowerment of farmers. The research method using field trials with Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) consisting of one factor (husk ash) and 8 levels ie I0 (0 kg), I1 (100 kg / ha), I2 (200 kg / ha), I3 ( 300 kg / ha), I4 (400 kg / ha), I5 (500 kg / ha), I6 (600 kg / ha), I7 (700 kg / ha) were repeated three times. The results showed that rice husk ash can be used to increase the production of rice plants, that can be used as an empowering farmers. The highest results of this study are: the number of productive tillers per clump 24.81, grain weight per clump 139.67 g, grain weight per plot 3051 g and grain production 10.17 tons / ha in treatment with husk ash 500 kg / ha. The farmers in the surrounding areas are very interested in using.

Abstract

Organic farming uses natural resources to improve the health and productivity of soil and plants. Nutrients are lost or transported through crops, erosion, leaching and volatilization must be replaced naturally and through the return of organic matter. This research aims to study the conditions of organic rice fields, specifically in terms of organic matter flow, in Jayan Kebonagung Imogiri Bantul. The organic rice field data obtained from interviews and archive farmers. The results indicate that the organic rice field in Jayan under a transition from conventional to organic rice field. Dose of organic fertilizer 10 tons/ha were given during the transition period. Organic fertilizer 5-10 tons/ha have been giving during the organic rice fields. Returns organic matter to agricultural land through land-crop-land, land-plant-livestock-land and land-crop-livestock-biogas-land. Manure, weeds and paddy field plants, crop waste, waste from agricultural products processing and non-agricultural organic wastes involved in the flow of organic matter. Farmers monitor the health and productivity of soil and plants as the basis in the management of organic rice field.
