Abstract

The research was conducted at SMAN 7 Palu for the purpose to improving student learning outcomes of Chemistry through the use of Cooperative Learning Type STAD methods (Student Teams Achievement Division) on the chemistry subject of reaction rate. Population of this research was all students in class XI IPA SMA Negeri 7 Palu academic year 2012/2013, consisting of 3 classes. The sample were in class XI IPA 2 with total 34 students, as the experimental class that used cooperative learning STAD method and class XI IPA 1 with total 37 students as a control class (not used Cooperative learning STAD methods). The data were collected by using the test instrument. The data collecting result use the statistical analysis t-test with the prerequisite test for normality and homogeneity tests. The study shows that the mean value of student learning outcomes use cooperative learning STAD model is 7.66; the mean value of student learning outcomes without using cooperative learning STAD model was 5.57. Based on the hypothesis testing using statistical t-test in the right side earned value thitung > ttabel is 5.36 > 1.66 with degree of freedom = 0.05 and dk = 69. The results shows that the use of cooperative learning STAD model could improve learning outcomes of students in reaction rate of chemistry subject.

Abstract

This research was done due to known that most students got difficulty in learning and understanding chemistry material particularly on alkana, alkena and alkuna concept. This problem occured because there was still any teacher who use conventional method in delivering the material. To make the material easy to learn, not boring and easy to understand, the teacher needs to give a learning media. The objective of this research was to increase the students’ learning outcome on the material of alkana, alkena and alkuna in SMA Negeri 2 Dolo by applying Mollymood aid. The population of the research was the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Dolo in academic year 2012/2013 with sample was 26 students of Class XA as the experimental class (given Mollymood aid for learning)and 26 students of Class XB as the control one (given conventional method). The technique of data collection done through instrument such as achievement test of alkana, alkena and alkuna. The data analysis result obtained average score on experimental class was 23.35 with deviation standard was 2.66 whereas for control class the average obtained was 20.73 with deviation standard was 2.77. Hypothesis testing result obtained tcounted = 4.59 and ttable 1.67 with significant level (α) = 0.05. Based on the research result, it showed that there was a significant difference between students’ learning outcome on chemistry taught using molymood aid and conventional one of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Dolo in academic year 2012/2013.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the differences in student outcomes that given cooperative model of Buzz group type with STAD type in students ofclass X SMA Negeri 4 Pasangkayu. Sample used consists of two classes, namely class XB as Buzz class group and class XA as STAD classes were determined by purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using a test instrument, be in the form of student achievement test chemistry in the form (multiple choice) as many as 30 items. Testing research data using statistical analysis t test (right side) with the prerequisite test, test for normality, and homogeneity. In this research obtained the median of student learning outcomes using learning Buzz groupmodel was 19.56 while median of student learning outcomes with STAD cooperative model is 16.46. Based on statistical hypothesis testing with t test statistic (right) obtained values of thitung > ttabel was 1.771 > 1.67 with the degree of freedom = 0.05 and df = 59. The results showed that there was a difference in student learning outcomes using cooperative learning group Buzz type with student learning outcomes using STAD type cooperative.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the level of a dye, rhodamin B, and a preservative, benzoic acid, on tomato sauce distributed in the area of Palu city. The food additive is used in order to get more interesting color and the benzoic acid is used to keep the food fresh for a long period of time. The research method used was a thin layer chromatography. It was aimed at knowing weather there was a dye called rhodamin B in the research sample or not. From the analysis result, it can be said that the sample did not contain the dye rhodamin B. in addition, another research method used was alkali acid titration which was used to examine the sample quantitatively and qualitatively. From the qualitative examination, it was found that all tomato sauced sampled positively contained the preservative benzoic acid. The tomato sauce produced by Mojokerto-Indonesia contained 34.7mg/kg while the one produced by Urabaya-Indonesia contained 40mg/kg. In conclusion, (1) all sample of tomato sauce examined did not contain Rhodamin B,the red dye substance, which was forbidden to be used for food, cosmetics, and medicine according to the Health Ministerial Regulation of Indonesian Republic No. 722/Menkes/Per/IX/1988 concerning food composition; and (2) the content level of Benzoic Acid in tomato sauce spread out in the traditional market, Inpres, Palu city has fulfilled the standard, i.e. + 1000 mg/kg. However, it is expected that all people must still be careful when buying and using tomato sauce.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes will be better if the experience for themselves what really happened. They will continue to remember the events that ever happened; therefore we need a method of teaching that is oriented to students. The purpose of this research is to improve learning outcomes chemistry of students class XI at SMA Negeri 1 Dampelas using learning cycle model base map concept in equilibrium topic of chemical. The Population of this research was all students in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Dampelas which consists of 4 classes. The sample was taken 2 classes with purposive sampling technique, which are class XI IPA 2 as much as 32 students as the experiment and class XI IPA 1 as much as 32 students as the control class. Research data collection was done by using a test instrument in the form of test results of chemical equilibrium. Testing research data using statistical analysis of t-test the right side and prerequisite test is homogeneity and normality test. The median score of student learning outcomes using learning cycle methods is 17.18 while median score of student learning outcomes with conventional learning is 14.25. Based on the calculation of the t test statistic obtained t_calc= 3.71, this show that in the region of rejection H_0 is 2.00. It can be concluded that there is an increase student learning outcomes with learning cycle model base map concept than students’ conventional teaching of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Dampelas on the subject of chemical equilibrium

Abstract

Utilization of information technology in particular a QR code in education is still lacking. Therefore the reseacher is examining the QR code in the chemistry learning. Teaching and learning activities in the classroom are still dominated by teachers, meanwhile students seem expect more aids from their peers in performing the task. which due to a number of student are still lack of confidence in completing their tasks. In this study, the researchers use the QR code in the learning of periodic table topics regarding properties of elements. The problem statement was wether the learning outcomes of student who involved in the learning using QR code are better than student who take lessons without involving the use of QR code. The number of student in class X science Labschool Untad for 2013/2014 academic year are 22 student in experimental classroom and 22 student in control classroom which are determined by purposive sampling. Based on the results, it is concluded that the learning outcomes of students who took lessons with the use of QR code is higher than the learning outcome of students who took the lessons without involving the use of QR code for student in class X SMA Labschool Tadulako University.

Abstract

Stale rice is the production result of inapproprite food to consume due to have bad smell and taste, mucus appearance, grown with yellow or orange fungus and sour taste because microorganism living in it. It is only throw by the household as the waste. Thus, it needs a process that it becomes useful and quality product. One of the product is the making of liquid organic fertilizer (POC). This study aims to create a POC and determine the amount of nitrogen in the POC. The research method is the preparation of stale rice, followed manufacture of POC through fermentation and determination of N-Total with destruction. POC later applied for fertilization in plants of orange paper flower (bougainvillea spectabilis), then performed observations shoot height of plants , leaves number, leaves shape, leaves colour , flowers number and the analysis of one of ingredients N-total POC in stale rice. N-total in POC of stale rice obtained wet destruction method as much as 92 mg/L (92 ppm). The liquid organic fertilizer from stale rice can accelerate the growth of orange paper flowers (Bougainvillea spectabilis) is indicated by the number of shoots, leaves and flower petals.

Abstract

Students in the learning required to take an active role in the learning process . But in fact, there are still many conventional learning that found. This can have an impact on student learning outcomes. Therefore we need an appropriate learning modes and appropriate. One of the learning model that allows students to play an active role in learning is a model guided note taking. This study aims to determine the effect of application of learning models guided note taking on learning outcomes of students of class XI Science SMAN 2 Pasangkau school year 2013/2014. The research sample that is class XI IPA 2 as the class experiment with the number of students 25 people and XI IPA 1 as a control class with the number of students was 27 people. The data was collected using achievement test instruments. Testing research data using t-test statistical analysis of the parties to the prerequisite test was a test for normality and homogeneity tests. Average score of student learning outcomes using the guided note taking learning model was 66.14 while the average score of student learning outcomes that follow the conventional learning 52.5. Based on the analysis of statistical hypothesis t-test with the values obtained by the tcounted = 3.693 and ttable = 1.67. So, tcounted> ttable showing that Ho refused and H1 accepted. It can be concluded that the guided note taking learning model gives higher learning outcomes than conventional learning models.
