Abstract

Fusarium oxysporum is a fungus that has a negative role, namely causing moler disease or Fusarium wilt in shallot plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of methanol and ethyl acetate extracts of kirinyuh stem (Eupatorium odoratum L.) on the antifungal activity of Fusarium oxysporum. This study used a complete randomized design (CRD) with 8 treatments, namely negative control, positive control, concentrations of 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100% with 3 replicates. The activity test was conducted using the Kirby Bauer method. Data from the study were processed by analysis of variance (one way anova) and continued by Duncan's test. The results showed that methanol and ethyl acetate extracts of kirinyuh stems affect the antifungal activity of Fusarium oxysporum. Ethyl acetate extract is more active to inhibit Fusarium oxysporum fungi compared to methanol extract. The highest inhibition zone diameter in the methanol extract was at 100% concentration which was 7.5 mm and the lowest at 10% concentration which was 2.67 mm. The highest inhibition zone diameter in the ethyl acetate extract was at 100% concentration which was 12.33 mm and the lowest at 10% concentration which was 4.67 mm.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of practicum activities in relation to their learning outcomes. The method applied is descriptive qualitative analysis, with data collection techniques using questionnaires given to students undergoing practicum at Ahmad Dahlan University. The data obtained was analyzed by thematic analysis methods to find the main themes related to students' experiences and views. The results of this study show that students generally believe that practicum activities have a positive impact on their understanding of theoretical concepts and practical skills they get in class. However, some students also said that there were difficulties related to limited time and inadequate facilities. In addition, support from practicum assistants and direct interaction with practicum tools or instruments are key factors in the success of PR activities.

Abstract

Understanding of lecture material requires not only theory, but also in-depth practicum. In an effort to improve learning outcomes, it is important to understand the various factors that can affect student learning outcomes, one of which is learning style. Learning style is a way or method used by individuals to receive, process, and remember information. This study aims to examine the effect of learning style on the results of the pretest of animal histology and embryology practicum in Biology Education students at Ahmad Dahlan University, class of 2023. This study is included in quantitative research, which identifies the effect of variable X on variable Y. The research instruments used include a learning style questionnaire with a total of 10 questions. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis in the form of a normality test and a T test. The results of the normality test showed that the significance value obtained was more than 0.05, which means that the data was normally distributed. The results of the T test showed a significance value of 0.00 less than 0.05. This shows that there is a significant influence between learning style and student pretest results. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between learning style and student pretest results in the Animal Histology and Embryology practicum.

Abstract

Students are required to be able to master 21st-century skills in learning biology. One of the demands of 21st-century skills is the ability to solve problems and biology learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze the effect of Problem-Based Learning model on problem solving ability and cognitive learning outcomes of biological science with literature study analysis. This research is a literature study with a narrative review type. The scientific articles used in this study amounted to 31 articles, consisting of 2 international journals, 18 accredited national journals, 3 unaccredited national journals, 3 proceedings, and 5 theses. The search for scientific articles was carried out through www.scholar.google.co.id and http://www.doaj.org. The data analysis technique was descriptive. The results showed that the Problem-Based Learning model had an effect on the ability to solve problems and cognitive learning outcomes of biological science.

Abstract

Based on the Instruction of the Governor of the D.I. Yogyakarta No. 28/INSTR/2021 to overcome the COVID pandemic, learning is carried out in the form of limited face-to-face meetings. Amount students who are allowed to attend is 30%, and the others studied outside, that used google classroom. Currently, class VIII students have not interacted directly friends or educators for 15 months since entering school. This is indicated by the level of activity in answering questions of 13.6%. This research is a qualitative research that analyzes the project base learning method in the topic of simple planes in limited face-to-face meetings. PjBL steps 1) Formation of groups in project activities. 2) Presenting real-world problems, applying a simple machine in cardboard machine, 3) Making a project work schedule requires the educator role. Educator supervision determines the success rate of project creation. 4) Problem findings are discussed and consulted educators directly and used whatts app groups. 5) The product exhibition is held in the physics laboratory. 6) The maturity level of students determines the dependence of mentoring. The 21st century capabilities that can be achieved in the application of PjBL through communication and collaboration as well as metacognitive abilities. Metacognition in the form of the ability to set learning goals, monitor the execution of knowledge, clarity and accuracy. Weaknesses in communicating due to limited face-to-face meeting conditions, substituted with whats app groups for discussion
