Abstract

Vitamin D defciency or insuffciency, including global public health problem. VitaminD status in pregnancy plays an important role on maternal and fetal health. Beside the classicalrole in bone and mineral metabolism, vitamin D and vitamin D receptor gene (VDR) is the keystimulating the proliferation and differentiation approximately 200-300 genes, which many ofthem regulate fetal development, it makes vitamin D important in pregnancy. The aim of thisreview is to explain how vitamin D-related implications on maternal and fetal health. Manyof the research concentration 25(OH)D serum levels is associated with pregnancy outcomes74 Volume 1, Nomor 2, Julii─Desember 2016such as preeclampsia, Gestational Diabetes Mellitus, Caesar birth delivery, bone health, preterm birth, intra uterine growth retardation, small for gestational age, and low birth weight.Pregnant mothers need higher vitamin D than usual. Therefore, a recommendation of vitaminD supplementation is needed for pregnant mothers who are defcient, safe and effective dose is4000 IU/day. The main source of vitamin D is most effective sun exposure UVB (90%) andfood (10%). The main determining factors affecting vitamin D status were the lifestyle, sunexposure behavior (use of sunblock, clothes, latitude, sunscreens) and low food intake of vitaminD. Therefore, women who undergo frst antenatal care recommended to be given informationregarding the importance of the role of vitamin D during pregnancy for maternal and fetalhealth.

Abstract

ABSTRACTNutrition and food is not only necessary for the growth, the development of physical, mental and health, but is also necessary for fertility or fertility in order to get a descent. The stateof maternal nutrition prior to conception influence on fertilization, fetal health, and maternalhealth. Fetal growth and birth weight of children is strongly influenced by the nutritional statusof pregnant women, both before and during pregnancy. Mothers with poor nutrition statushas deposits of nutrients is not enough to support the growth and development of the fetusand the mother’s health, as a result of fetal growth retardation, birth defects, miscarriage and low birth weight (LBW). The low nutritional status is affected by the lack of knowledge aboutnutritious food. An action based on knowledge will be better than the deed that is not basedon knowledge. Domain knowledge is very important for the formation of a person’s actions. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of nutrition education on knowledgeabout balanced nutrition changes on the bride and groom in Pekanbaru. This study was aPre-experimental research design with pre-post test with a total sample of 51 people taken byaccidental sampling. The variables studied were knowledge bride. Data were analyzed usingpaired t test technique with SPSS for Windows version 21. The results showed that there was asignifcant difference (p-value = 0,000) about the average percentage of nutritional knowledgeof respondents between before and after education, the average knowledge before being educated45.9 ± 13.211% increased to 62.37 ± 15.916%.Keywords: education, knowledge balanced nutrition

Abstract

ABSTRACTContrary to popular perception, coronary artery disease is the primary cause of deathin women. Menopause is nonmodifable factor of coronary artery disease in women. Some ofresearches said that menopause influence lipid profle. Good eating patterns, enough physicalactivity, and normal nutrition status can be secondary prevention for coronary artery diseasethus have abnormal lipid profle. The purpose of this study was to know relation between eatingpatterns, physical activity, and nutrition status with lipid profle in menopause women patientswhich suffering of coronary artery disease in Heart Polyclinic of Gatot Soebroto Central ArmyHospital. Design study in this research used cross-sectional with sampling technique used ispurposive sampling and get 47 respondents. From this study can be seen that eating pattern and nutritional status had signifcant relation with total cholesterol (p=0,024, p=0,001). Eatingpattern and nutritional status also had signifcant relation with LDL cholesterol (p=0,024,p=0,001).

Abstract

ABSTRACTWomen living with HIV infected from their husband are more experiencing decline inconfdence and quality of live. This confdence influences the food consumption patterns. Thiss a descriptive research with quantitative data using cross sectional design. The data werecollected by interviewing women living with HIV using questionnaire in 2012. The populationn this study is the whole member of West Nusa Tenggara peer support group, totaling 25person. The sample is the total population using saturated sampling technique. The result shows that most of women living with HIV are having food consumption frequency three times(72%), and snack consumption frequency twice (40%). Most women living with HIV statedthat they rarely consume vegetable everyday (40%) and rarely consume fruits everyday (84%).and most women living with HIV never consume packed food (68%) and rarely consume fastfood (60%). Milk consumption habit of women living with HIV is very rare, only 4% of therespondents who stated always consuming milk. Sweet tea drinking is also rarely done (60%)and most of the respondents don’t consume coffee (56%). The proportion of the respondentswho stated consuming packed drink often is 8%. Herbal medicine and supplement are stillrarely consumed, and most of the respondents stated that they never consume supplement(44%) and herbal medicine (80%). Nutrition education approach effort is an important to do towomen living with HIV through peer support group.

Abstract

ABSTRACTGlobal raising of obesity prevalence nowday had influence to increasing morbidity andmortality cardiovascular disease (CVD). One of obesity implication is incresing of aterogeniclipid profles such as low-density lipoprotein (LDL). This lipoprotein contains apolipoproteinB (apo B) as hydrophilic agent in circulation. Researches show that level of apo B was betterpredictor of CVD risk factor. The most effective technique in weight loss such as llifestylesinterventions for obese is combining diet and exercise. Current advice is to increase the amountof dietary fber up to 20-35 g/day, for more effective weight loss management. Dietary fber hassignifcant characteristics that affect physiological and metabolic roles including its solubilityin water. Psyllium husk (PH) is a source of natural soluble fber obtained from plantago ovataForssk seed. The aim of this study to investigate the change of apo B level in obese I aftergiven supplementation psyllium husk (PH) 8.4 g/day and low-calorie balanced diet (LCBD)for 4 weeks. We conducted a double blind randomized clinical trial with parallel design.Subjects were randomly allocated into two groups; treatment (T) group and plasebo (P) group. The T subjects received psyllium husk (PH) 8.4 g/day and LCBD 1200 kcal/day and the Psubjects received placebo and LCBD 1200 kcal/day. Data collected in this study consist ofsubject distribution and characteristic, intake of energy, macronutrient, fber, water and apoB level that assessed before and after treatment. Level of statistical analyses signifcance was5%, independent t-test and Mann-Whitney. A total 28 subjects (14 subjects in each group)had completed the intervention. There were no serious adverse events were reported along theintervention. Mean of age in T and P groups respectively was 35.0 (30.0-45.0) years and 34.5(30.0-48.0) years, and BMI was 28.0 ± 1.1kg/m2 and 27.2 ± 1.4 kg/m2. The energy intake in Tgroup 1130.9 ± 221.9 kcal/day was signifcantly higher (p = 0.02) than P group 1024.3 ± 269.9kcal/day. Simple carbohydrate intake in T group (35,6 (8.3-69.9) g/day) was signifcantlyhigher (p<0.0001) than in P group (13.8 (3.4-55.5) g/day). Intake of dietary fber in T groupwas 17.2 ± 2.8 g/day had signifcantly higher than P group 8.2(5.2-15.2) g/day, even addingPH supplementation cannot meet the recommendation of fber intake (20-35 g/day). Decreasingof apo B level in P group was -6.1 ± 8.9 mg/dL that statistically insignifcant difference (p =0.13) with T group -1.3 ± 7.3 mg/dL. We concluded PH supplementation 8.4 g/day and LCBD1200 kcal/day in obese I can not reduce apo B level in 4 weeks.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe objective of this research was to analyze the true digestibility (TD), biological value(BV), and net protein utilization (NPU) of biscuits. The research used 25 rats of Spraguedawley aged between 29-32 days. The research was conducted in two stages, adaptation andintervention period. The period of adaptation was conducted for 4 days by providing thestandard feed (AOAC 1995) and aquades ad libitum. The period of intervention was began byclassifying 25 rats into 5 groups: group A (fed with standard biscuit feed), group B (fed withblondo biscuit feed), group C (fed with blondo + snakehead biscuit feed), group K1 (fed withnon-protein feed), and group K2 (fed with casein feed). Intervention was carried out for 10days. During the intervention, a given amount of feed, remaining feed, urine, and feces werecollected and weighed for analysis purposes. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variants(ANOVA). If the results of ANOVA showed signifcant differences (p<0,05), then followed byDuncan’s test with 5% confdence interval. The results showed that total of feed intake, weight gain, and Feed Conversion Effciency (FCE) were signifcantly different (p<0,05). The value of the TD, BV, and NPU of casein group, standard biscuit group, blondo biscuit group and blondo+ snakehead biscuit group were not signifcantly different (p>0,05).
