Abstract

Interchanges that are investigated in this research are roundabout interchange and pinavia interchange that are simulated in AIMSUN software using traffic data. The parameters that  are considered for each interchange are  traffic volume, pollutant emissions, fuel consumption, travel time, delay time ,construction cost, repair and maintenance cost, travel time cost , fuel consumption cost and safety , so that in technical evaluation traffic volume, pollutant emissions, fuel consumption, travel time, delay time are compared  by using two independent sample t – test that are used  for comparing of two group of data and It is assumed that the variances are equal . Then In economic evaluation construction cost, repair and maintenance cost, travel time cost , fuel consumption cost and safety are converted into cost by using axis produce way that based on this supposal that storage in exchange for an hour of travel time, increase an hour of production opportunities and construction cost, repair and maintenance cost calculated by executive plans and Related Regulations and finally each parameter is weighted by AHP and obtain the universal (total) cost. Finally due to the total cost of the resulting it can be seen that for twenty-year period pinavia interchange in compare with roundabout interchange has 49% more efficient.

Abstract

Silty subgrade soil cannot satisfy the requirements of highway construction because of its low strength and durability problems. A wide range of reinforcements have been used to improve soil performance. Improving the soil properties has caused more interest in identifying new accessible resources for reinforcement. This paper investigates the effect of including different reinforcement types on reducing the rapid accumulation of pavement damage caused by freeze–thaw cycles or low strength of a silty pavement foundation. The improvement of CBR strength and freeze-thaw behavior was tested with the inclusion of three reinforcement categories: i) randomly distributed fibers (natural palm fibers and chemical polypropylene fibers), ii) chemical additives (lime and cement), and iii) waste or by-product materials (fly ash and silica fume). To represent unsaturated and saturated soil conditions for various field applications, both unsubmerged and submerged samples were investigated. Mass losses were also calculated after freezing–thawing cycles as criteria for durability behavior. The test results for the reinforced specimens were compared with unreinforced samples to clarify the effectiveness of each reinforcement type and content. Unsubmerged samples especially that reinforced with waste materials provided a significant improvement in CBR strength. For submerged conditions, the best performance was observed from the specimens treated with chemical additives. 10% of cement reinforcement and 20% of waste materials provide the highest resistance against the freeze–thaw cycles.

Abstract

Pavement preservation is a quintessential system of treating pavements at the optimum time to maximize their useful life. One of the preventive maintenance treatment options is using microsurfacing system as the acceptable and economical solution. This study presents a laboratory investigation of aggregate type and adhesive materials and their relationship to microsurfacing pavement properties such as cohesion, wet track abrasion loss, excess asphalt and compaction. The method of this study relies on ISSA A143, using the Cohesion 30 min and 60 min, Wet track abrasion loss, Loaded-wheel excess asphalt and finally Loaded-wheel compaction. The verification of this method was achieved through measuring the various factors of specimens constructed in laboratory using two different aggregate sources as river and mountain aggregates and two binders as CSS-1h and CQS-1h. The results showed that mixes contain riverine aggregates showed more cohesion properties. Base on wet track test results mixes, mixes containing riverine type aggregate were more resistant to abrasion. In addition CQS-1h emulsion showed better adhesiveness against abrasion in both types of aggregates in asphalt mixes. With increased amount of emulsions in mixes, load wheel values increased as well. Loaded wheel compaction test results confirmed that river based aggregates are more susceptible to rutting failure. The results of wheel tracking test illustrated that CSS-1h emulsion applied in mixes had better resistance to rutting.

Abstract

Understanding the flow pattern around the building, results in an accurate analysis of structure performance. Furthermore, having a proper configuration of the buildings next to each other we can provide a situation in which the buildings use the wind to make the air movement and natural ventilation. In this paper we use the FLUENT software to verify numerical flow pattern in buildings with different heights, and the results are provided in the form of distribution of velocities, velocity in Y direction, flow patterns and counters of turbulent.
