The purpose of this research was to explain whether punctuations could better improve the students’ reading skill through Google Classroom application at grade XII MS 1 of SMA Negeri Plus Provinsi Riau and to explain what factors influenced it. The data were collected by using observation checklists, field notes, and tests. Then, qualitative data were analyzed by data managing, reading or memoing, describing, classifying, and interpreting. Meanwhile, quantitative data were analyzed through the percentage (scores of reading test by using Google Classroom), matrix, and graph. This classroom action research consisted of two cycles constituting three meetings for each cycle. The result of this research showed that implementing Google Classroom improved the students’ reading skill in each cycle. It was found that at the end of the first cycle, the percentage of the students’ reading skill was 83.20%. However, this result was still unsatisfied. At the end of the second cycle, the improvement of the students’ reading skills after implementing Google Classroom was 90.40%. It implied that there was an improvement of the students’ reading skill through punctuations through the implementation of Google Classroom at the end of the second cycle. The quality of teachers as educators becomes an important factor, one of which is the quality in designing HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) questions. This study aimed to improve teachers’ ability in designing HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) questions through teacher work groups (KKG). The subjects of this study were 26 teachers. This study was conducted by using school action research methods carried out in several cycles. The results demonstrated an increase in teachers’ activities in the first cycle; the average percentage was 73% with a good category. Then, the average percentage in the second cycle was 91% with a very good category. It was also found that the average score of teachers’ ability in designing HOTS questions in the first cycle was 80.76 with a good category, while the average score in the second cycle was 96.92 with a very good category.

The objectives of this research were to: (i) evaluate the trainees’ satisfaction with trainers and training performance; (ii) evaluate learning gain or the improvement of trainees’ skills, knowledge, and attitudes after training; and (iii) identify the significant obstacles that reduced the effectiveness of the training. This study was conducted using the Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model through questionnaires, interviews, and descriptive statistical methods. This research revealed that: (i) the overall aspect of the implementation evaluation assessed by participants was in the Good category, although it could not meet the level of participants’ expectations. This could be seen from the ratio of the average total perception/reality to the average importance, which was below 100%. On the other hand, it was found that the trainers were able to meet the participants’ expectations, with the category of Very Good; (ii) the results of the evaluation analysis at Level 2 (learning gain) indicated that most participants graduated with a Good predicate and experienced an increase in scores. Thus, it could be asserted that participants gained additional knowledge after attending the training; and (iii) there were some obstacles faced by participants in attending the training, although in general the evaluation results showed positive outcomes. In terms of administration, participants generally complained about inadequate internet quality in some areas. Meanwhile, based on the trainers’ aspect, participants suggested that trainers add more case studies and raise more up-to-date issues in handling problems related to the training materials.

This study aimed to develop a Problem Based Learning (PBL)-oriented pictorial story materials assisted by android to improve science learning outcomes at grade IV Elementary School. The approach used in this study was research and development (R&D) with mixed methods design. The subjects in this study were students at grade IV SDN 1 and 2 Manyargading, SDN 1 and 2 Bandungrejo, and SDN Teluk Kulon Kabupaten Jepara. Data were collected by using questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. The PBL-oriented pictorial story materials assisted by android media were developed by referring to the stages of development proposed by Borg and Gall. The results showed that PBL-oriented pictorial story materials assisted by android were feasible to improve science learning outcomes. This was based on the results of the validity test, the effectiveness test, and the practicality test of the materials. The result of validity test revealed that the assessment from the material, media, and language experts as well as the practitioners was good. Then, the result of the effectiveness test indicated that students’ learning outcomes increased from an average pretest of 51.2 to 76.8 in the posttest. The result of main field testing found that the average score of the students’ learning outcomes in the experimental class was (86.5), which was better than the score in the control class (73.2). The result of paired-sample test showed that the value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), meaning that there were significant differences in the students’ learning outcomes in the experimental and control class. Thus, it was said that PBL-oriented pictorial story materials assisted by android were effective to improve science learning outcomes. Finally, the result of practicality test obtained that PBL-oriented pictorial story materials assisted by android received a good response from students and teachers.

The students were rarely willing to give arguments and answers to the teacher during the learning process because they were not used to complete learning problems by themselves and they were already accustomed to accept all of the explanation from the teachers. This learning process made students to take all of the concepts without potential processing existed in themselves and around them. One way to improve this was by implementing an appropriate learning model as well as by briefly delivering or presenting the materials which collaborated telling or transmission, organizing students’ activities and making learning possible, as well asthe learning problems faced at present. This research aimed to produce the learning model which applied team games tournament method and assisted by Android with a good quality and worthy to be implemented during the learning process. It also aimed to describe how well the quality of the learning model was. This research was conducted by using ADDIE development method. The results indicated that the learning model fulfilled the aspects of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Based on the score obtained, the material validation = 99, so the validation value = 66. The score of practicality = 98 with a percentage of 78.4% which was in Good category. The learning model was effective if there was an increase in students’ learning outcomes before and after using the model developed. The minimum criteria of learning mastery could be achieved if at least 75% of the total students got a score >70 in increasing learning outcomes.
