Abstract

This study aimed to describe the Mathematical literacy skills of Grade VI students of SD Inpres Nipa-Nipa, in terms of reflective and impulsive cognitive styles, based on the six levels of Mathematical literacy. This research was a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were two grade IV students, one student with a reflective style and another student with an impulsive style. The data collection began by giving a cognitive style test and an initial Mathematics test. Then, a Mathematical literacy test was also administered to determine the level of students’ literacy. After that, an interview was conducted to obtain more accurate data. The results showed that (1) the reflective student took a long time and was very circumspect in answering the Mathematical literacy test questions, so that the results were more accurate. The reflective student was able to answer the questions with clear procedures sequentially and was able to interpret and use representations based on information of the questions, so that it could take the right strategy to answer the question. These results revealed that the students were at the third level of mathematical literacy ability, (2) the impulsive student needed shorter time and was less careful in answering a Mathematical literacy test so that the results were less accurate. The results showed that the impulsive student could answer the question with an identified context and the relevant information with a clear question was available. In addition, the impulsive student could identify information obtained from the question and when he was given a stimulus. Thus, the impulsive student possessed the first-level of Mathematical literacy skills.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has made students learn through online learning, which is different from face-to-face learning. As a result, several problems might occurred due to this changing both for students and teachers. Online learning caused students to experience various academic problems, such as unstable internet connections, difficulties in understanding the materials, having more assignments, additional costs for buying internet packages, being unfamiliar with the online learning system, and increasing parents’ burden to help children in learning. Some of the problems mentioned above became a stressor for students in taking online learning. Based on the phenomenon reported by BK teachers at schools, male students were less disciplined in managing time during online learning. it was found that many male students skipped the class during online learning; many assignments were not submitted on time. As a result, their academic achievement decreased. On the other hand, female students focused more on the online learning and they were more likely to stay at home, so that it was easier for them to adapt to online learning compared to male students. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the level of academic stress of male and female students. The research samples were 155 students and the instrument in this study was an academic stress scale. This study obtained that the validity of the instruments was 0.3 and the reliability was 0.875. Then, the data were analyzed by independent sample T-test and descriptive analysis. The results showed that there were differences in the academic stress of male students and female students, in which the academic stress of the male students was higher than the academic stress of the female students.

Abstract

This research and development aimed to achieve 2 main objectives: to develop a mind mapping model based on prophetic values in writing exposition texts, and to describe and discuss the profile of mind mapping model based on prophetic values in writing exposition texts. This model was developed by using 4D model (definition, design, development, and dissemination) which was modified to 3DI (definition, design, development, and implementation). This research was conducted in the academic year 2019/2020 at a high school in Bandung. The instruments of this research were questionnaires and observation sheets that fulfilled the validity and reliability requirements. The initial product was tested on a limited trial in X IPA SMA Negeri 1 Baleendah Bandung. Then, the revised product was tested extensively in 2 classes, namely X IPA-3 and X IPS-5. The last procedure in this research was the dissemination of the final product prototype, which was teaching materials entitled Mind Mapping Based on Porphetic Values: Teaching Materials for Writing Exposition Texts for Grade X SMA/MA. This teaching material consisted of 30 pages, A4, time new roman, 12 automatic spaces outside the start page of 7. Ho was rejected for the paired sample t test because the sig. 0.037 < p = 0.05 for class X IPA-3 and the sig. 0.037 < p = 0.05 for class X IPS-5. This product was believed to contribute to the process of learning writing exposition texts at high schools. After that, as users, the Indonesian teachers scored in mode 4 for a scale of 1 to 4 for the 4 feasibility indicators. The score mode of 4 also occured in the assessment given by the expert team.
