Abstract

Introduction: Acute care is a type of time-sensitive care, this is due to an acute condition requiring rapid intervention. Acute conditions that exist in the inpatient unit would require special care in handling. This acute condition can affect many things, one of which is the patient satisfaction. With proper treatment for acute cases, the course will improve patient satisfaction itself. However, to date, acute care has been poorly defined and inadequately supported in most developing health systems. Aims of Study: This research aims to determine nurses’ perception on the implementation of inpatient acute nursing care in the Hasanuddin University Hospital. Method: This research was a qualitative method, data collection using individual interviews against ten participants (inpatient nurses) and validity checks of the data that utilizes something beyond the data. Data analyze used thematic analysis. Result: The results of the research yield four themes. Those four themes are perception of acute conditions, supporting factors in the management of patients with acute conditions, inhibiting factors in the management of patients with acute conditions, and nurses’ hope for acute care. Conclusion: From this research it is known that the incidence of acute conditions in the inpatient unit of Hasanuddin University Hospital less than chronic conditions. To handle acute cases, nurse in the inpatient unit take action early by monitoring vital signs, then immediately gave emergency action if necessary, while collaborating with the doctor. Supporting factors for nurses is the availability of emergency trolly, as well as cooperation among nurses who are good. Whereas the inhibiting factor is the number of nurses who are still lacking and the absence of code blue team. Advice from researchers, to health institutions is expected to be able to form a rapid response team (code blue), so that patients with serious/acute condition can be handled more quickly and efficiently, so that the implementation of nursing, especially nursing acute to run well and the nurse also will not experience in serving patients overwhelmed.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a problem experienced by more than 50% of women in each country. Pain occurs in the lower abdomen, sometimes accompanied by nausea, vomiting, dizziness and mood changes. This condition causes an increase in absenteeism in school, disruption in learning activities that affects achievements in academic and nonacademic fields. One factor that is often associated with the incidence of dysmenorrhea is an abnormal body mass index (overweight and underweight). This study aims to determine the relationship of body mass index with the degree of pain menstruation (dysmenorrhea) in young women in SMA Negeri 21 Makassar. This research is a descriptive cross-sectional study involving 110 respondents based on the purposive sampling method and carried out in February-March 2019. The data taken is primary data through measurements of body mass index based on body weight and height. After that, a normal, overweight and underweight grouping is done. Measurement of menstrual pain level is done using Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Data analysis was performed using Chi square test and the value of p = 0.00 was obtained. From this results, significant conclusions can be drawn because the value of p < 0.05 indicates that there is a significant relationship between body mass index and degree of menstrual pain (dysmenorrhoea) in young women in SMA Negeri 21 Makassar. Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. According to the International Diabetes Federation, there are 425 million people suffering from diabetes in the world and will increase by 629 million in 2045. There were more than 10,276,100 cases of diabetes in Indonesia in 2017 and ranked 6 out of the top 10 countries for the number of diabetics. Diabetics have an increased risk of a number of serious health problems, one of which is the cause of foot amputation. Amputation occurs 15 times more often in diabetics than non-diabetics. Effective and comprehensive foot care can prevent the risk of ulcer becoming amputation. This study aims to provide an overview of the treatment process and the development of wounds for five weeks of treatment. Method: This study was conducted prospectively using a prospective cohort study by providing wound care to one respondent with diabetic foot ulcer for five weeks at Griya Afiat Wound Care Clinic, Makassar. Wounds were assessed using the Wound Nursing Care format from Griya Afiat Clinic. Result: the first and second week is inflammatory phase, the third to fifth week is proliferation process There is a change in the size of each wound and increasing the process of granulation and epithelialization every week of treatment until the fifth week of treatment, the wound begins to increase epithelialization and changes in wound size, especially in undermining. Conclusion: During the five weeks of treatment, the wound healing process has developed well. The wound has no potential for amputation if the wound care process is still balanced with the selection of appropriate dressings and patient compliance in performing wound care. Other factors that inhibit the wound healing process need to be known.

Abstract

Introduction: Dysmenorrhea or menstrual cramps is a pain (usually in the pelvis, lower back or abdomen) during menstruation. The pain usually begins several days before or during menstrual bleeding starts. It is often mild but in some cases, the symptoms may be more painful and cause discomfort. Dysmenorrhea is divided into two categories including primary (not associated with pelvic pathology) and secondary (resulting from underlying diseases) dysmenorrhea. The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of hot pack and stretching exercises on pain in adolescent girls with primary dysmenorrhea. Method: This was an experimental research with two group pre-test and post-test design. Twenty girls of students in Class X who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were assigned in two groups: hot pack (n=10) and stretching exercise groups (n=10).  The menstrual pain was measured using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) before and after six times interventions. The pain score changes in each group were analysed using paired sample test while the comparison means for hot pack and stretching groups were assessed using independent samples t-test.  Result: The results revealed that the intensity of the pain in both hot pack and stretching exercises group were declined (p <.05). After conducting independent sample t-test, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference between the level of pain for the hot pack and stretching group (p = 0,001). Conclusion: Hot pack is more effective in reducing dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain) compare to stretching exercises.

Abstract

The high prevalence rate in diabetes, causing diabetes is considered a health problem worldwide. Various studies related to interventions that can be done for diabetes sufferers have been widely carried out, including in terms of knowledge and education with the Health Belief Model (HBM) approach. The method used with the help of electronic data bases from journals that have been published through Pubmed, Wiley Online, Science Direct, Proquest, and Google Scholar. Results: 4 studies were included in the review, to assess the results of educational interventions in diabetics with the use of HBM. Conclusions and implications: It is known that the application of nursing education using the Health Belief Model concept framework has an effect on the self-management of diabetics so that it is expected to change patient compliance.
