Abstract

The creation of this product innovation work aims to analyze the production process of making “Clobi” products and the level of public preference for “Clobi” products. This product innovation method is RnD with the 4D model, namely definition, design, develop, and disseminate. The result of this product innovation is the production process of making “Clobi” products made using the main material of satin fabric and additional sequins made in such a way that it functions as a clutch bag and obi. 2) The level of public liking for the “Clobi” product based on the favorability test conducted on the “Clobi” product on the design indicator, shows that the shape of the design is 73.3% very favorable and the placement of the motif is 66.6% very favorable. In the aesthetic indicator, the results of the favorability test show that the aesthetics of the clutch bag 83.3% are highly favored and the aesthetics of the obi 80% are highly favored. On the function indicator, the favorability test results show that the clutch bag function is 60% highly preferred and the obi function is 83.3% highly preferred. Meanwhile, on the total look indicator, the results of the favorability test showed that 70% were highly favored. This shows that “Clobi” products can be well received by the public. By seeing the good response from the community, it is hoped that “Clobi” products can be mass produced and then marketed. Future researchers can further develop the materials used and other designs according to the target market.

Abstract

As postmodern aesthetics develop in the digital world, the coquette trend is becoming increasingly popular, especially among Gen-Z. One fashion product that can be associated with this aesthetic is the Mary Jane model shoe, which has long been known for its classic and feminine design. This study uses the Morphological Forced Connection (MFC) method to explore various design alternatives that adapt the coquette aesthetic elements of Mary Jane shoes. Data were obtained through literature studies, market observations, and questionnaires involving women aged 18–26 years to understand user preferences. The results of the exploration using the MFC method produced 243 design combinations, which were then narrowed down to three main alternatives. The final design chosen based on aesthetic analysis and user preferences, resulted in "Marie Janes" shoes with a combination of velvet material, mixed straps, and soft colors that reflect the coquette aesthetic. Validation of the final design was carried out through questionnaires given to industry experts and users, showing a high level of conformity to the coquette aesthetic concept. This design also combines visual elements of the Rococo era, such as ribbon details, lace, and floral motifs, which strengthen the product identity. By applying the MFC method, the redesign of Mary Jane shoes successfully adapts the coquette aesthetic effectively. The resulting product offers strong aesthetic and commercial value, making it a relevant innovation for the contemporary fashion market.

Abstract

Smart City is one of Surabaya's programs realized through technological innovation, which connects, monitors, and controls resources to be more effective and efficient in service delivery to sporty sustainable development. The design of urban electric motorcycles with a sporty aggressive style is part of the effort to accelerate the Smart City program in Surabaya, focusing on the Smart Environment & Mobility category. This electric motorcycle design is integrated with futuristic elements and advanced technology to create an environmentally friendly, energy-efficient motorcycle that aligns with the vision of sustainable urban development. The research covers the design process from conceptualization to prototype development, considering ergonomic, safety, and performance aspects. The result is a design concept that not only meets aesthetic and performance standards but also makes a positive contribution to urban environments, in line with Smart City development goals. The practical implications of this research include the potential use of electric motorcycles designed with a sporty aggressive approach to improving environmental quality and enhancing sustainable mobility in Surabaya.

Abstract

This research addresses the challenge of fabric waste in sandal production caused by high market demand. The study's primary contribution is demonstrating an effective method for repurposing production waste fabric into marketable flatbed sandals, reducing environmental impact while maintaining industry quality standards. Through experimental design, we identified opportunities to transform waste materials into consumer products, potentially creating new market segments responsive to current trends and preferences. Implementation of this approach reduced fabric waste by one 40x60cm trashbag per sandal product. This research provides a sustainable solution to material waste in the footwear industry by creating value from production residuals, simultaneously addressing environmental concerns and opening new commercial possibilities in the consumer footwear market.
