Abstract

This paper concerns with the correlation of phase equilibrium of binary system of carbon dioxide-ethanol at subcritical and supercritical condition. In this study, three equations of state(Redlich-Kwong, Soave-Redlich-Kwong, and Peng-Robinson) together with conventional mixing rule, were applied for correlating phase equilibrium the system. The capabilities of these equations of state were examined with experiment results obtained from the literatures. The results show that Soave-Redlich-Kwong and Peng-Robinsoh equations of states can well correlate the phase equilibrium of binary system of carbon dioxide-ethanol.

Abstract

In recent years, fiber-matrix composite laminates have been widely used in mechanical structures. Due to functional design requirements, the laminates may contain holes that could cause stress concentration. Unlike isotropic plate, where the stress concentration depend upon geometric parameter and loading conditions, stress concentration factor of fiber-matrix composite is also depend on the anisotropic properties such as fiber direction and angle ply. This paper present intensive studies of the influence of the fiber direction and angle ply to the stress concentration factors for composite laminate containing circular and elliptical hole under uniaxial loading. The stress concentration factor curves are presented for various angle ply, fiber direction, and geometric parameter. These curves could be used by designer to obtain the optimum design of laminate structure containing hole.

Abstract

To overcome the difficulties in calibrating a hot wire anemometer the equation E2 = A+BU0.45, as the reference equation in making hot wire anemometer, was changed to U = (1/ B (E2-A))2.22 to produce linear calibration curve. To realize this idea then an electronic circuit was designed with IC AD 534 and AD 538 as the main components. IThe hot-wire anemometer was made based upon the above principles then used to measure velocity components of swirling flow, which has two components of velocity, i.e.: axial (normal) velocity and tangential velocity. In measurement of swirling flow the probe-X was used to measure axial velocity and tangential velocity simultaneously. Magnitude and direction of swirling flow were determined from those velocity components.

Abstract

One method to increase badminton racket performance is by improving individual player's racket. For this purpose, two measurements are necessary, i.e. (1) the racket 's location of sweet spot that is inherent due to its manufacturing process and (2) the players "sweet spot", i.e. the spot that the player consistently hit the badminton cock, which for factory manufactured racket is not the racket 's inherent sweet spot. If the two spots do not coincide, than the original racket meet spot can be shi/ted until it coincides with the player sweet spot, making the racket performance to be maximised.
