Abstract

Stunting is a chronic condition in which measurement of the Body Length for Age (PB/A) or Height for Age (TB/A) with values in the anthropometric table <-2SD according to international references. The specific objective of this study was to determine the relationship between birth weight, immunization status, history of diarrheal infection and history of Acute Respiratory Disease with the incidence of stunting in toddlers in the Kassi-Kassi Health Center area. The research design used was analytic observational with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were toddlers within the scope of work of the Kassi-Kassi Health Center; using a purposive sampling technique according to the inclusive criteria, we obtained 251 toddlers. We found that there was a relationship between birth weight (p-value 0.000), immunization status (p-value 0.000), and history of infectious diarrheal disease with the incidence of stunting (p-value 0.023). Next, there was no relationship between a history of acute respiratory disease and the incidence of stunting (p-value 0.551) in toddlers at the Kassi-Kassi Health Center.

Abstract

The prevalence of mental health related to anxiety, depression, and postpartum stress in Asia is high and varies widely, between 26-85%, while in Indonesia it is between 50-70% in postpartum mothers. Maternal functioning is a multidimensional concept that includes personal care, babies, families, social activities and work. Objective: to determine the relationship between mental health and maternal functioning in postpartum mothers. This research uses an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample used was postpartum mothers who met the criteria with a total sample of 100 samples. The data collected in this study used secondary data from medical records and primary data through questionnaires, then analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between anxiety and maternal functioning while for depression and stress there is no significant relationship with maternal functioning in postpartum mothers

Abstract

Prevalence of chronic low back pain (CLBP) is still high, there is no effective pharmacological treatment with minimal side effects when consumed in the long term, while the treatment of CLBP generally requires long-term pain treatment. This study aims to assess the effect of a combination of repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) and repetitive Peripheral Magnetic Stimualtion (rPMS) on pain scale changes in patients with CLBP. This is an experimental study using consecutive sampling which is divided randomly into two groups. The treatment group received pharmacology treatment and combination of rTMS and rPMS for two weeks, the control group was only given pharmacology treatment. Pain was measured in both groups on the first, sixth, and thirteenth days. The results showed that there was a significant difference in pain reduction between the treatment group and the control group. The decrease in pain scale in the treatment group was much greater with a mean value of -6.07 compared to the control group with a value of -3.00, significant with a p value of 0.001. Conclusion: After 10 intervention sessions the combination of rTMS and rPMS had an effect on reducing the pain scale in patients with chronic low back pain.

Abstract

The pathophysiology of interstitial cystitis (IC) is complicated and related to statin drug use without any established underlying mechanisms. This study used a rat model of acute IC caused by protamine sulfate to examine the effects of simvastatin on bladder and urine macro-tissue after simvastatin treatment. There were 12 adult female Wistar rats. Simvastatin 10 mg/kgBB + protamine sulfate group (S10P), Simvastatin 50 mg/kgBB + protamine sulfate group (S50P), and Placebo + Protamin Sulfate group (KP) were the three groups (each n=4) into which the subjects were grouped. Simvastatin or placebo CMC 0,5% was administered orally to all animals for 30 days, followed by an intravesical protamine sulfate (10 mg/ml) instillation procedure. All animals were gathered three days after intravesical therapy to collect urine samples and bladder tissue. Simvastatin group participants' levels of hematuria were significantly higher than those of the control group (p = 0.03). Only relative bladder weight was substantially higher in the S50P group than in the control group (p=0.032). Simvastatin group members did not substantially vary from the control group regarding bladder macroscopic oedema and haemorrhage. To conclude, simvastatin may influence the condition of tissue hypervascularization and hypertrophy, contributing to the chronicity of acute interstitial cystitis.

Abstract

Amputation is a surgery that involves removing part or all of a limb or some abnormal growths from the body. The prevalence of amputations was approximately 1.6 million in 2005 in the United States and will double to 3.6 million in 2050. The main cause of upper extremity amputation is trauma, which is around 80%, especially in young adults with an incidence of amputation due to electrical burn injuries of around 2% (mainly transradial and transhumeral). The effects of an electric current depend on the type of current, voltage, tissue resistance, current strength, the path the current takes through the body, duration of contact, and individual susceptibility. Individuals undergoing upper extremity amputations need comprehensive rehabilitation by physiatrists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, prosthetists, and psychologists. An appropriate rehabilitation program and a comfortable prosthesis (including maintenance of limb length) aim at prosthesis reconstruction. In addition to rehabilitation programs, appropriate amputation techniques can also facilitate individuals in the functional recovery process.
