Abstract

Feed is one of the most important aspects that cannot be left out in the fish farming process. One of the problems often faced by cultivators is the high price of feed due to the use of imported raw materials, such as soybean meal flour. To reduce the use of soybean meal flour, a new innovation was carried out in the form of substitution of local raw materials, namely Indigofera sp. This study aims to determine the effect of TDI (Indigofera sp.) as a substitute for soybean meal flour on growth performance on rearing red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.). This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. P1 (without TDI usage), P2 (10% TDI usage), P3 (20% TDI usage), P4 (30% TDI usage). The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) then further tested with Duncan's test. Based on statistical analysis, the test feed had a significant effect (p<0.1) on FCR was not significantly different (p>0.1) on the growth of absolute weight, absolute length, SGR, and SR of fish. The result of this study is that the use of TDI (Indigofera sp.) can be used up to a dose of 30% as a substitute for soybean meal flour in red tilapia feed, because it produces the same absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, SGR, and SR as the control feed.

Abstract

Natural feed Tubifex sp. and larvae of Chironomus sp. proven to be able to improve growth performance in several types of ornamental fish.  The purpose of this study was to evaluate the natural feeding of Tubifex sp. and larvae of Chironomus sp. to the growth rate of manfish fry (Pterophyllum scalare). This study used the Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments fish feed namely commercial feed PF 500 (A), Tubifex sp. 100% (B), Tubifex sp. 50% and larvae of Chironomus sp. 50% (C), and larvae of Chironomus sp. 100% (D). Fish used are 2-4 cm in size and weigh approximately 1-2 g. Fish distribute into 12 aquariums with a density of each aquarium of 1 fish/liter. The results showed the natural feeding of Tubifex sp. and larvae of Chironomus sp. Significantly able to improve the growth of manfish fry. Feeding in the form of 100% Tubifex sp. resulting in the highest growth performance in manfish fry reaching 2,914 g and 5,202 cm for absolute weight and absolute length, respectively. The survival rate of manfish fry in this study reached 100% for all treatments and controls. This research is expected to be one of the references for ornamental fish farmers in manfish seed feeding management.

Abstract

Spiny lobster (Panulirus homarus) is one of most fancy seafood products that able to grow from puerulus to consumption size in floating cage. Limited information regarding feeding rate of this species during cultured with fresh mangrove snail meat as a feed. This study purpose to evaluated culture performance of spiny lobster within different feeding rate level. Three feeding rate level of 10, 13 and 15%/day were used as treatments. Three floating cages with 120 individuals of pre-adult of spiny lobster was used. Sixty days of cultured periods with absolute growth, specific growth rate, feed convertion ratio and survival rate were analysed to determined culture performances. Results showed that 13%/day of feeding rate was supported highest absolute growth and specific growth rate. It is showed different performances with 10%/day and 15%/day of feeding rate. Moreover, all level of feeding rate can support 100 % of survival rate. Efficient feed convertion ratio due to positive correlation with growth performance.  This study recommends feeding rate 13%/day may use as a point of standard operational procedure in grow-out business of spiny lobster.

Abstract

Length of time entering readiness early reproduction so that the relative fecundity and the low degree of fertilization and the degree of hatching in the goldfish hatchery are a challenge in the effort to provide goldfish seeds in quality and quantity. The effort was made by combining kroto and oocyte developer in the female goldfish. This experiment was carried out in September 2019-March 2020 at the Aquatic Productivity Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The test fish used were 60 females 5-month-old brood stock, with an average weight of 14.69±3.69 g. This study used a completely randomized design using two factors, kroto (g / kg of fish) and oocyte developer (ml / kg of feed) with two levels each: K1O1 (0 + 0), K2O1 (30 + 0), K1O2 (0 + 0.5), and K2O2 (30 + 0.5) and 3 replications for each treatment. The results showed that factor K (kroto) and factor O (oocyte developer) had no effect on the relative fecundity of female goldfish during 8 weeks of maintenance. Meanwhile, the combination of kroto and oocyte developer affected the relative fecundity of the female goldfish at the 8th week of rearing, the degree of fertilization, and the degree of hatching
