Coffee pulp waste is one of the most significant industrial wastes today because, for the last three years, the coffee business has multiplied in Indonesia, especially in urban areas. Coffee pulp waste has economic value if it can use it. This study is (1) to describe the condition of the existing coffee shop in South Jakarta, (2) to find out the social business strategy for the development of the creative industries in the coffee shop by utilizing coffee grounds waste. This study is a qualitative descriptive with a case study approach. To determine the condition of the coffee shop, data was collected through interviews with 30 coffee shop owners in South Jakarta and observation. The SBMC analysis will continue to project the coffee pulp business as a social business. The results showed a coffee shop in South Jakarta produces coffee waste per day 1-5 kg. All owners have not utilized the coffee grounds waste. Through SMBC analysis, education is needed to the coffee shop owner as a supplier of coffee waste and open employment for the community who will recycle coffee grounds into cosmetics. This study concluded that the utilization of coffee waste could create a creative cosmetics industry while overcoming unemployment.

Abstract

It is undeniable that the writhing of tourism in East Sumba is the impact of electronic and digital media coverage of the determination of Nihiwatu beach as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. As a newly developed tourist area this phenomenon is a momentum for the people's economic revival that must be immediately and accurately addressed by the Regional Government. This study aims to analyze the development of community-based sustainable tourism in Walakiri beach tourism objects located in Watumbaka Village, Pandawai sub District with aspects of the research of the role of the Regional Government and the economic impacts that occur at the Community level. The data analysis technique used is qualitative descriptive analysis and SWOT (strenghts, weaknesess, opportunity, and threat). The data used are secondary and primary data obtained by observation and interviews. Until now, Local Governments have not fully been able to implement sustainable tourism development programs due to the status of land ownership of some communities including commensurate beaches which hamper the tourism development spatial planning process. Therefore, the Regional Government and the Community need to design the concept of Sustainable Tourism Development which can accommodate the interests of all parties. The implementation of the Community Based Tourism (CBT) approach model can be an option for the sustainable tourism development approach that will be implemented.

Abstract

This study examined the accessibility of women to markets in some rural communities in Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State. Both primary and secondary data were utilised for this research. Three sets of data were required. The first set of data focused on the socio-economic characteristics of rural dwellers with emphasis on gender composition, level of education and possession of personal means of transportation. The second data required focused on the travel pattern of rural population to markets taking into account attributes such as distance travelled, mode of transportation mostly used, average travel time and frequency of trip to market in a week. The last category of data elicited was based on constraint of women to access market centres in the region. Descriptive and inferential statistics were employed to analyse the data. Findings reveal that agricultural products and few manufactured goods are traded at Olufi central market in the study area. More than 60% of women relied on public transport services to convey their goods to markets. 30% of women in the rural communities trekked to markets and travelled several kilometres to engage in commercial activities. There is gender variation on transport mode to markets in the rural region of Ayedaade Local Government. Many of the rural population claimed that their agricultural produce decayed on transit because of infrequent operation of the transport services in the region. The study therefore recommends that there is need to provide community based transport services at subsidized rate for rural communities in Nigeria so as to enhance the accessibility of women to markets and participate in other productive activities in the rural areas of Nigeria.

Abstract

The main purpose of this paper was to investigate the impact of macroeconomic variables on stock market return volatility in Sub-Sahara markets. The study concentrated on three stock markets including Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa using GARCH-X (1,1) model on monthly data from January 2000 to December 2017. Preliminary analyses from descriptive statistics show that mean monthly returns are positive for all the stock markets. Skewness coefficients show that the stock returns and interest rates distribution of all Sub-Sahara Africa stock markets are negatively skewed but inflation rate is positively skewed for Nigeria and South Africa, and flat for Ghana. Excess kurtoses are positive for all the stock markets and macroeconomic indicators, and Jarque-Bera statistics indicate the stock markets’ series and macroeconomic indicators are not normally distributed. The Unit roots tests results indicate that all the stock markets and macroeconomic indicators are first difference stationary. The results of the GARCH-X (1,1) model show that macroeconomic variables do not significantly impact stock market returns volatility in Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa at the 5% significance Level. We therefore recommend that stock market regulators, market participants and investors should concentrate more efforts on other macroeconomic variables aside interest rate and inflation rate, in estimating stock market return volatility in Sub-Sahara Africa.
