Abstract

Introduction: Interprofessional education (IPE) facilitates the development of interprofessional competencies, such as communication and teamwork. However, challenges in developing teamwork competencies can affect the enhancement of other competencies, such as communication and vision of a team. Additionally, teamwork is also affected by the previous learning process in silo professional. However, there are limited studies report the differences of teamwork among health students in different subjects. This study aims to identify the teamwork competence among health students in the IPE program. Methods: We used a descriptive research approach. We involved 470 students of semester 6th from various disciplines (medicine, nursing, and nutrition) as participants (total sampling), and a total of 431 students participated in the study (response rate: 92%). They were asked to complete the teamwork scale (TWS) online. Descriptive frequencies were used to analyze the data by identifying means and standard deviation (SD). Additionally, differences in teamwork scores among students from different subjects were analyzed by applying Kruskal-Wallis test since the data had abnormal distribution.  Result:  Nutrition students have lower scores compared to their peers in medicine and nursing in all subscales. There were differences in teamwork competencies among health students in different subjects in all subscales (team structure, leadership, situational monitoring, mutual support, and communication) with p-values 0.000; 0.000; 0.005; 0.000; 0.000, respectively. Discussion/Suggestions: The teamwork competence in all subscales was varied and it was different among students based on their subjects. It is suggested to identify students’ teamwork in other institutions and different settings, such as clinical settings, and to identify the nature of differences in achieving teamwork competence to support a deeper understanding of its achievement.

Abstract

AbstractHypertension is a global health problem that requires pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment. A combination of non-pharmacological interventions such as isometric handgrip and pursed lips breathing has the potential to have synergistic effects in lowering blood pressure, but there is still little evidence evaluating both intervention simultaneously during several days. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the combination of isometric handgrip and pursed lips breathing in lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients during five days. This study used a case study design with two female respondents aged 53 and 65 years who suffered from 1st and 2nd degree hypertension. The intervention was carried out for 5 days with one daily session directly supervised by the researcher. Isometric handgrip and pursed lips breathing are done alternately in the same session. Blood pressure was measured before and after the intervention. The results showed a decrease in blood pressure in both respondents. Systolic blood pressure decreased by 30 mmHg and diastolic decreased by 15  mmHg after 5 days of intervention. Respondents also reported feeling more relaxed and comfortable. The combination of isometric handgrip and pursed lips breathing is effective in lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients. This intervention can be used as an easy, cheap, and safe nurse self-therapy to support hypertension control in the community. Future experimental studies are required to examine the effect of intervention in larger populations.

Abstract

AbstractWork productivity is an important indicator for assessing workers' ability to complete tasks effectively and efficiently. For railway maintenance workers, productivity is often influenced by the burden of physical activity such as painting, washing, and welding, as well as the adequacy of rest and hydration conditions. Based on a review of previous similar studies, a research gap was found in the form of a lack of studies specifically analyzing the relationship between physical activity, rest, and hydration with productivity in certain work units. This study aims to determine the relationship between physical activity, rest adequacy, and dehydration with work productivity in railway maintenance workers. The study used a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample determination in this study was carried out using a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive sampling approach, based on the inclusion criteria that had been determined by the researcher, 25 railway maintenance and care workers were obtained. Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that 60% of respondents had poor physical activity, 68% had low rest adequacy, and 12% were dehydrated. No significant relationship was found between these three variables and work productivity (p > 0.05). Thus, physical activity, rest, and dehydration are not related to work productivity, which is likely influenced by other factors such as motivation, work environment, and workload. Keywords: physical activity, rest, dehydration, work productivity.
