Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as diabetes and hypertension, contributed significantly to the mortality rate in Indonesia. Citizens’ unhealthy behaviors have led to an increased risk of diabetes and hypertension. This study aimed to investigate the level of public knowledge regarding diabetes and hypertension. Data were collected through a survey using questionnaires. There were 307 respondents from Medan (n=190) and Jakarta (n=118). The sample was dominated by the female (68,5%) and high school graduates (76.3%). The data revealed that 2.3 percent of the respondents suffered or are currently suffering from diabetes and 3.6 percent of the respondents suffered or are currently suffering from hypertension. The results showed that the level of public knowledge regarding diabetes (65.91%) and hypertension (58.15%) was not ideal in general. Many citizens still did not understand various aspects of diabetes and hypertension, such as the causes, consequences, treatments, and characteristics of their sufferer. This study also found that there are group differences in the level of public knowledge based on gender and geographical location.

Abstract

Work environment conditions with high temperatures cause workers to experience fluid loss which can cause urine production to decrease so that the urine produced becomes concentrated. If this condition is left for a long time, it can cause saturation of the urine. This study used a cross-sectional design and had 32 respondents as tofu factory workers in Tandang Village, Semarang. The variable most relatedA working environment with high temperatures impacts the employees to encounter fluid loss which leads to the reduction of urine production, thus the urine production becomes concentrated. If this condition lasts for a long time, there will be saturation of the urine. This present study used a cross-sectional design with 32 employees of the tofu factory as the respondent in Tandang Village, Semarang. The most related variable with urine crystallization is water drinking consumption which is the most influential variable in the occurrence of urine crystallization. Employees who consume water drinking insufficient amounts have a probability crystallization of 41.80% compared to employees who consume less water drinking, namely the probability of urine crystallization of 98.81. From this equation, it can be interpreted that employees have a risk of urine crystallization of 0.4230 times. From the eight variables studied, there are four variables (age, water drinking consumption, heat density, and the level of dehydration) that had a statistically significant relationship with urine crystallization. Abstract

Covid-19 has now become an epidemic that has spread almost all over the world and has caused morbidity and mortality. covid-19 in addition to having an impact on physical health also has an impact on the social and economic life of the community as well as mental disorders due to the stigma experienced by infected people, families, and health workers. This study aims to determine the role of knowledge about community stigma towards health workers and families of covid-19 patients in Makassar City, Indonesia.  In this study using a quantitative method with a descriptive survey approach, the sample in this study was 105 respondents, which were taken by simple random sampling technique. The study found that public knowledge about covid-19 was related to stigma in the families of covid-19 patients (p=0.010) and knowledge was also associated with stigma to health workers (p=0.000). Stigma against families and health workers still occurs in Makassar City, due to the lack of knowledge possessed by the community and the existence of fake news or hoaxes that trigger the emergence of stigma against health workers and families of covid-19 patients.

Abstract

After implementing various policies to deal with covid-19, which were still considered ineffective, the Government of Indonesia is now trying to implement a mandatory vaccination policy for all of its citizens. However, the program's success depended on the perceptions and beliefs that developed in the community regarding the covid-19 vaccine itself. This study aimed to examine the Health Belief Model (HBM) effect using the variables of perceived susceptibility, severity, benefits, and barriers on covid-19 vaccination intention. By using a quantitative method that was cross-sectional and involving 452 respondents who were taken using the purposive sampling method. After being analyzed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), the results of this study showed that perceived susceptibility, severity, and benefits had a positive influence on covid-19 vaccination intention. At the same time, the perceived barrier showed a negative effect. In the end, this study provided a theoretical model of HBM in predicting behavioral intention, which in turn, predicted behavior. On the other hand, this research also provided a starting point for research into the interest in vaccination against covid-19 in Indonesia

Abstract

The description of community behavior in utilizing existing health service facilities in their area can be seen from the success rate of the Posyandu program, namely the coverage of weighing children under five at the Posyandu. This study aims to examine that nutrition education interventions through community nutrition classes can increase the scope of integrated health care (posyandu) performance (D/S, N/D) in Bulukumba Regency, Indonesia. This research design is quasi-experimental. The samples in this study were mothers of children under five who were in the intervention area (n=107) and control (n=113). The intervention group was given nutrition education through community nutrition class activities, while the control group was given counseling. The results showed that there were changes in the intervention group in the form of increased knowledge of mothers of children under five, increased parenting patterns of mothers of children under five, increased levels of community participation, and increased body weight of toddlers compared to the intervention group. control group. Community nutrition classes at posyandu can be used as a model in increasing the level of community participation in posyandu because there are changes in both knowledges, child care patterns, the number of visits at posyandu (D/S), and the number of toddlers who experience weight gain from the previous month's weighing (N/D) for increased significantly.
