Abstract

Booster system fish farming has been widely used by cultivators since 2014. Booster system farming is a way of cultivating fish by emphasizing water, feed and health management applications to reduce the risk of crop failure. This study aimed to examine the production performance and cultivation techniques of African catfish with a booster system on an industrial scale, without experimental design. Feed management in this cultivation system is carried out by adding grotop boosters, aquavita premix boosters and progol boosters in 1 kg of feed. The average weight of African catfish when stocking was 6.03 ± 0.06 g/fish with a density of 2,025 in 4 concrete pond units. This studies showed after 77 days of culture, the highest fish weight gain was in pond T4 of 80.17 ± 0.56 g/fish, followed by T2 of 79.94 ± 0.97 gr/fish, T1 of 78.92 ± 0 .91 gr/fish, and T3 of 78.27 ± 0.33 gr/fish. The survival rate in this study was also high where the survival rate was >90% with an FCR value of 1.2.

Abstract

Seaweed cultivation is one of the leading commodities in the fishing sector and is still occupied by most coastal communities. One of the types of seaweed that can be cultivated is Eucheuma cottonii. One of the areas in Badung Regency that was once a place for seaweed cultivation is the South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Pandawa Beach, to be exact. The problem most often faced by seaweed cultivators is that seaweed cannot grow properly. The cause of seaweed not being able to grow properly occurs due to predators eating the seaweed thallus. Therefore, a study was conducted to determine the appropriate location on the Pandawa Beach for the cultivation of seaweed Eucheuma cottonii. The research method was carried out by planting Eucheuma cottonii seaweed in 3 different locations seen from the distance from the tourism position (water sport) in the waters of Pandawa Beach, first location in the water sport area, second location is 100 m to the west of the one location, third location is 100 m to the west of two location. The results of this study indicate that the average weight of seaweed at location 1 in the first to sixth week range 119,6 g – 399,7 g, location 2 range 121,80 g – 413,5 g, and at location 3 it ranged 123,35 g – 430,75 g. The Growth Rate (SGR) at Location 1 is 3,3%, Location 2 is 3,37%, and Location 3 is 3,47.%.

Abstract

Contamination of Heavy metal has a crucial issue not only in Indonsia but also in Global where are contamination of heavy metals can cause pollution in waters which has adversely affects not only to water quality but also affects to aquatic organism life. One of the dangerous heavy metals was found in the waters is chromium (Cr). Chromium contamination in the waters can caused by industrial waste like : tanning leather, paint mixture, etc. Tilapia is an economic fish in that has ability to accumulate heavy metals. This aim of this study is to determine the ability of Cr heavy metal accumulation in gills. Experimental research was conducted on tilapia measuring 10-13 cm by giving Cr exposure at different concentrations (0 ppm, 30 ppm and 60 ppm) for 96 hours. Measurement of Cr content in gill organs was read by using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) at the integrated laboratory of the faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Udayana Univesity. The results obtained from this study indicated that there were differences in gill accumulation with Cr exposure 30 ppm and 60 ppm of Cr. The highest Cr accumulation of Cr in the gill organs with exposure by Cr 60 ppm (13,491 ppm) and 6,515 ppm at exposure to Cr 30 ppm.

Abstract

Vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) has advantages, such as being more responsive to feed, resistant to diseases and poor environmental conditions, fast growth, high survival rate, and high stocking density. This study aims to examine the effects of different stocking densities on the growth, survival rate, and feed efficiency of vaname shrimp. Vaname shrimp (±0.6 g/shrimp). were stocked in fiber tanks with a volume of 500 liters and filled with seawater with a salinity of 35 ppt. This study used an experimental method with 3 different stocking density treatments: 200 individual/m3 (A), 400 individual/m3 (B), and 600 individual/m3 (C), repeated three times per treatment. The shrimps were cultivated for 60 days and fed at a rate of 5% of their body weight/day four times a day. The results showed that average growth shrimp in treatment A, B, and C were 12.10 g, 10.14 g, and 7.37 g, respectively. The survival rate of shrimp in the treatmen A. B, and C were: 72%, 46,3%, and 56%, respectively. The FCR in the treatment A, B, and C were 0.95; 1.4; and 1.26. One Way ANOVA statistical analysis indicated significant differences (P<0,05) between treatments A dan C in terms of mean body weight growth, as well as between treatments A and B in terms of FCR. This study indicated that different stocking densities affect the growth, survival rates, feed efficiency, and water quality of vaname shrimp.
