Abstract

The choice of specialization path or subject at school (SMA) is now based more on academic achievement alone, ignoring self-potential and sociographic conditions of students, making it possible for students to be confused about planning the right career choice. Putting aside the conditions of the area where he grows and develops, conditions include ethnic origin, social interactions, family status, kinship relations in the surrounding community, so that in his career he has difficulty planning the right career. The aim of this research is to produce a specialization service model based on personal potential, sociographic conditions and career planning for Baubau City High School students. The research uses a mixed method approach and is analyzed based on research and development. The research subjects were 127 students and 10 guidance and counseling teachers, taken using a purposive sampling technique plus 2 guidance and counseling experts spread across 13 high schools and vocational schools in Baubau. Data collection uses a specialization scale combined with sociographic conditions and career planning. The model was prepared hypothetically and limited trials from ten stages were reduced to 6 research stages to formulate an appropriate student specialization service model based on personal potential, learning achievement, and sociographic conditions and career planning. The model will have 9 components and effectively determine and provide recommendations for specialization based on personal potential, sociographic conditions, and the direction of students' future career planning more effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

The Dunning-Kruger Effect phenomenon has long been in the spotlight in the field of cognitive psychology, describing a paradox in which individuals with low competence tend to overestimate their abilities. This article examines the implications of this phenomenon for counselors in counseling practice through a systematic review approach. By collecting and analyzing literature from various empirical and theoretical sources, this review aims to reveal how this cognitive bias affects the process of reflection, decision-making, and the effectiveness of counseling interventions. The results of the review indicate that the Dunning-Kruger Effect not only impacts the counselor's self-perception, but also affects the therapeutic relationship with the client through self-evaluation distortion and overconfidence. The practical implications of these findings emphasize the importance of metacognitive training, clinical supervision, and critical reflection in improving the quality of counseling services. This article concludes with recommendations for further research and the development of professional training modules to reduce the impact of cognitive bias in counseling practice.

Abstract

Terminal lucidity is a phenomenon characterized by the sudden reappearance of cognitive clarity in patients with severe cognitive impairment, such as dementia, near death. This systematic study aims to examine various aspects of the terminal lucidity phenomenon, from biological mechanisms, psychosocial impacts, to spiritual dimensions, especially through the lens of an Islamic perspective. The study was conducted using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach according to the PRISMA guidelines, with an analysis of 82 open access articles from 2015 to 2024. The selection process included screening of titles, abstracts, and full texts, resulting in 40 articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of the analysis revealed that although biological mechanisms such as changes in neurotransmitters and brain electrical activity require further study, the terminal lucidity phenomenon has important implications for palliative care. This moment of clarity provides an opportunity for patients to communicate meaningfully and for families to say goodbye with hope. In addition to the medical aspect, terminal lucidity also reflects a significant spiritual dimension, where Islamic values interpret this phenomenon as divine intervention and a moment of final forgiveness. The findings of this study emphasize the need for a holistic approach that integrates emotional support, physical care, and spiritual guidance in end-of-life counseling. Further research is recommended to investigate the pharmacological mechanisms and the use of brain imaging technology to deepen the understanding of this phenomenon, so that the quality of patient care at the end of life can continue to be improved. This study makes an important contribution to expanding the multidisciplinary understanding of terminal lucidity and encourages the development of holistic palliative care guidelines, so that medical, psychosocial, and spiritual interventions can be optimized to accompany patients and their families to achieve a better quality of life.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of social support and perceived stress on burnout in health workers in Karawang Regency. Participants in this study were early to late adults aged 20 to 45 years and domiciled in Karawang Regency with a total of 102 participants, the method used was quantitative with causality design and cluster sampling technique. Data were collected through psychological scales that measure variables of multidimensional scale of perceived social support (MSPSS), perceived stress scale (PSS), and maslach burnout inventory (MBI). Data analysis was conducted using normality test, linearity test, multiple regression test, and coefficient of determination test with the help of SPSS program. The results showed that the data was normally distributed and both independent variables, namely social support and perceived stress significantly influenced the level of burnout with a significance value of 0.000. The coefficient of determination of social support and perceived stress on burnout is (R Square) 0.249 or 24.9%, where social support and perceived stress contribute 0.005 while perceived stress is 0.000, meaning that these findings indicate the need for interventions aimed at increasing social support and reducing perceived stress to prevent burnout in health workers. Further research is recommended to focus on more specific and contextual intervention strategies according to the needs of health workers in Karawang Regency.

Abstract

Without parental direction, adolescents living in orphanages face difficulties deciding about their future orientation in careers and educational paths. Therefore, to effectively support them, protective factors must be identified. This study aims to examine the effect of resilience and secure attachment on how adolescents living in orphanages see their future orientation in relation to their education and careers. Purposive sampling strategies were used to select 96 teenagers from orphanages as research subjects. In this study, three measuring devices were employed. The Secure Attachment variable was measured using the attachment model of Bartholomew & Horowitz (1991), the future orientation variable was measured using the Future Expectation Scale of Adolescents (Dwiastuti dkk.,2023), and the resilience variable was measured using the seven aspects of resilience according to Reivich & Shatte (2002). The analysis was carried out utilizing multiple regression. The results of the hypothesis show that resilience and stable attachment play a crucial role in the future orientation of teenagers in foster care. This is supported by the values p=0.004 (p<0.05), R=0.335, R Square=0.093, and F=5.893. Thus, it can be concluded that the resilience and secure attachment variables, when combined, contribute an effective 9% to increasing the quality of future orientation in education and career fields for adolescents living in orphanages.

Abstract

In the current digital era, Instagram has become one of the most popular social media applications, especially with its filters that enhance photo results. These filters influence visual appearance and significantly impact psychological aspects, including self-confidence and self-image. This research aims to explore the influence of self-image on self-confidence among early adult women who use Instagram filters inKarawang Regency. The research methodology employed is quantitative with an associative causal design. Sampling is conducted using non-probability sampling via convenience sampling. The sample size of 160 participants is determined using the Lemeshow formula. Instruments used include a self-confidence scale based on theory and a self-image scale based on Jersild's theory, both constructed by the researcher. Hypothesis testing indicates a positive relationship between self-image and self-confidence. The coefficient of determination reveals that self-image contributes 48.8% to self-confidence.

Abstract

Sex education is crucial for adolescents from an early age, as they are vulnerable to misinformation about sexuality. This study aimed to examine adolescents' perceptions of sex education and provide psychoeducation to prevent risky sexual behavior. The methods used included lectures and discussions, with measurements conducted using a sexual behavior tendency scale through a pre-test, post-test, and a follow-up one month after the intervention. The results showed a significant increase in adolescents' knowledge levels after psychoeducation, with t = -15.282 (p = 0.000) for the pre-test and post-test comparison, and significant stability in the follow-up (t = -9.473, p = 0.000). Psychoeducation helps individuals recognize the importance of sex education without stigma. This program effectively fosters a healthy understanding and a positive attitude toward sexuality. Therefore, broader implementation is necessary, both in schools through the integration of sexual psychoeducation materials and in communities using an environment-based approach.
