Abstract

Digital transformation has encouraged Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to adopt social media as a communication and marketing strategy. However, the use of social media by MSMEs, particularly in semi-urban areas such as Bandar Selamat Village, still faces various challenges. This study aims to analyze the role of social media in improving the performance of culinary MSMEs, by highlighting its impact on customer growth, increased sales, and business development. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews with six MSMEs, and documentation of their digital business activities. The results show that active and strategic use of social media has a positive impact on business performance, especially in aspects of customer interaction and brand presence. These findings support digital marketing communication theory and strengthen empirical evidence regarding the importance of digital literacy in MSME development. This study also reveals variations in effectiveness among business actors influenced by digital skills and content strategies. Implications of this study include the need for social media training for MSMEs and support for an inclusive digital ecosystem. Further research is recommended to cover a wider range of regions and business sectors to gain a more comprehensive understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the marketing communication model implemented by Muhammadiyah in Medan City to build its brand image as a da'wah (Islamic propagation) organization that is adaptive to contemporary developments. The research is motivated by the need for non profit, especially religious, organizations to formulate effective communication strategies amidst rapid digital transformation and changing communication patterns in society. The study is grounded in key theoretical frameworks, including organizational communication theory, marketing communication theory, and brand image theory. A descriptive qualitative approach was adopted, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. Thematic analysis was employed using coding techniques to identify key themes based on informant narratives. The findings reveal that Muhammadiyah's marketing communication model in Medan is built through synergy between internal organizational communication, which emphasizes a collective collegial approach, and external communication through social and mass media as the main channels for disseminating da'wah messages. Core values of da'wah bil hal da'wah through concrete actions such as education, healthcare, and community empowerment form the foundation for shaping a positive public perception of Muhammadiyah. However, several challenges remain, such as low levels of digital literacy among grassroots communities and cultural resistance to change. This study recommends strengthening digital communication capacity, adopting educational and participatory approaches to delivering religious messages, and implementing inclusive strategies to engage marginalized groups. translatekan kebahasa Indonesia.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of cooperation practices carried out by party vendors such as cooperation between makeup artists and tent entrepreneurs in Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency. This cooperation is usually carried out verbally or informally, namely via cellphone or via WhatsApp and there is no written agreement in it so that it often triggers disputes such as payment problems and others. This study aims to analyze how the implementation of the syirkah abdan contract in cooperation between makeup artists and tent entrepreneurs in Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency and examine it from the perspective of the Hanafi school of thought. The syirkah contract in this cooperation is a form of service-based business partnership, namely each party contributes from their work or expertise. The research method used is empirical juridical by examining the practice of cooperation that occurs directly in the community using interview data collection techniques, observations and documentation studies to obtain primary and secondary data. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the practice of syirkah abdan in this area is usually carried out verbally so that it is prone to causing disputes. The implementation of syirkah abdan in this area is considered legally syar'i when it fulfills the elements of ijab qabul and joint contribution according to the Hanafi school of thought. However, breaking the agreement by one of the parties, such as running away and taking the profits, makes the agreement on this collaboration fasakh (void) and the aggrieved party has the right to claim its rights through a dispute resolution mechanism (qadha). The recommendation from this research is the need to form a written contract in an agreement as well as a deep understanding of muamalah fiqh law in order to avoid disputes in collaborative activities.

Abstract

The transformation of Islamic educational thought during the Islamic Renewal (tajdid) period in Egypt (19th to early 20th century) was an intellectual response to Western modernity, colonialism, and the scholarly stagnation plaguing the Islamic world. This research focuses on the shift from a taqlid paradigm towards an inclusive approach. It employs a qualitative approach with historical-descriptive analysis of primary and secondary texts and documents to trace how reformist thinkers, such as Muhammad Abduh and Rashid Rida, criticized intellectual stagnation and called for a more contextual and adaptive reinterpretation of Islamic teachings. The analysis in this study explains that the renewal movement not only reformed the curriculum of Islamic education-by integrating religious sciences and modern science-but also introduced values of inclusivity. These transformative efforts included the diversification of disciplines taught, the introduction of more dialogical and critical teaching methods, and the integration of modern values such as rationality, tolerance, gender equality, acceptance of intellectual plurality, and interfaith dialogue. Nevertheless, this process was not without resistance and internal debates. The shift towards inclusivity in Egyptian Islamic education, marked by efforts to open up to new ideas and involve diverse perspectives, represents a reconstruction of Islamic epistemology relevant to modernity, and simultaneously a significant evolution in facing constantly changing social and intellectual dynamics. This article concludes that the legacy of Islamic educational thought during the renewal period in Egypt offers a transformative model for the development of contemporary Islamic education that balances tradition and progress. This transformation is not just about curriculum changes, but also about reconceptualizing the role of Islamic education in shaping a more progressive and open society.

Abstract

The tourism industry is a prospective commodity that is considered to have an important role in national development, but tourist attractions can also pose a risk of danger to tourists, therefore to support safety and security at tourist destinations, Law Number 10 of 2009 concerning tourism and Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning consumer protection have been enacted in order to guarantee and provide security and safety for tourists. This study aims to determine the form of security facilities available at the international surfing event held in Afulu District, North Nias, and what form of protection concept is based on the Maqashid Syariah perspective. The type of research is empirical legal research with a living case studies approach, statute approach and conceptual approach. The results of this study indicate that the facilities at the international surfing event held in North Nias have not met the safety and security aspects such as the lack of a monitoring tower, a place to store goods, a route to tourist attractions, the provision of clinics or First Aid for Accidents (P3K) permanently. So, based on the perspective of Maqashid Syariah, especially from the concept of hifz al-nafs (protecting the soul) and hifz al-mal (protecting property), the organizers of the International Surfing Event should coordinate with the beach tourism managers and must provide security and safety facilities in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the TikTok account @vmuliana in enhancing personal branding knowledge among students of the Communication Studies Program at Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with ten senior students and observation of five TikTok videos related to personal branding. The analysis reveals that @vmuliana's content supports students' understanding of key concepts such as value consistency (Unity), digital visibility (Visibility), and personal distinctiveness (Distinctiveness) in building a professional identity. Informative, relatable, and strategically communicated content facilitates the transformation of conceptual knowledge into practical actions, such as optimizing LinkedIn profiles and creating professional resumes. These findings indicate that TikTok can function as an effective informal learning medium for developing students' personal branding skills in the digital age.

Abstract

Children living in orphanages generally come from underprivileged family backgrounds and therefore require special attention and guidance. This study aims to analyze the role of caregiver communication in shaping the independence of foster children at Putri Siti Aisyah Orphanage in Aek Kanopan. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings show that caregivers train the children to become independent by instilling discipline in daily activities. The communication established between caregivers and foster children plays a crucial role in fostering the children's independence. The communication approach adopted by caregivers combines both humanistic and authoritative methods, emphasizing empathy as well as firmness in nurturing. The foster children exhibit positive development in terms of behavior, responsibility, and social skills. Communication challenges such as the children's reserved attitudes, diverse backgrounds, and environmental influences can be overcome through patient and consistent communication. This study affirms that caregivers function not only as guides but also as companions who support the process of developing children's independence. The findings highlight the importance of continuous and effective communication in supporting the growth of foster children into self-reliant individuals.

Abstract

Night markets are one of the alternative forms of recreation for the public, offering various amusement rides at affordable prices. However, behind their appeal, night markets also carry significant safety risks for visitors, particularly related to the amusement rides. This study aims to examine the liability of the organizer regarding consumer safety standards for those harmed in accidents involving amusement rides at the Naga Nusantara Night Market, viewed from the perspective of Maqasid Shariah. The research method used is empirical legal research with a sociological approach, through the collection of primary data from direct interviews. The findings show that the lack of safety procedures and negligence in ride maintenance resulted in physical injury to consumers, which was resolved by providing compensation, representing a form of civil liability. From the perspective of Maqasid Shariah, however, such incidents violate the principle of hifẓ al-nafs (protection of life), which is one of the main objectives of Islamic law. Therefore, increased supervision, regular inspections, and safety education are necessary to ensure consumer rights and prevent similar incidents from recurring.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the dynamics of self-disclosure carried out by adolescents facing mental health challenges through social media, with the Into the Light account serving as a contextual space that represents these practices. This research adopts a qualitative case study approach that allows for an in-depth exploration of participants' subjective experiences. The findings reveal that self-disclosure plays an important role in enabling adolescents to express their feelings and thoughts in a safe and anonymous environment on social media. Factors such as emotional needs, trust levels, past experiences, and perceptions of a safe digital space influence adolescents' decisions to engage in self-disclosure. Although the Into the Light account was not directly involved as a participatory object in this research, its presence provides context for understanding digital spaces that support openness. This study contributes to broadening the understanding of how social media, as a supportive and inclusive environment, can promote adolescent mental health.

Abstract

When reflecting on the state of law enforcement in Indonesia, it becomes apparent-after reviewing various cases-that the system has not functioned effectively, and in fact, may be considered poor. The weakness of law enforcement in Indonesia is reflected in the unresolved major cases, one of which is the entrenched practice of corruption, the perpetrators of which are rarely held accountable. This reality stands in stark contrast to the treatment of cases involving ordinary citizens, where law enforcement officers are notably more responsive. As is widely known, individuals involved in corruption often belong to the upper class-officials and affluent individuals-who possess the power to interfere with the effectiveness of law enforcement itself. This study employs a qualitative approach, where data in the form of narrative descriptions or attachments are collected and then analyzed descriptively. Descriptive qualitative research is a method that describes situations and events (Nurdiansyah and Rugoyah, 2021). The data collected comprise words, images, and not numerical values. These data may originate from interview transcripts, field notes, photographs, personal documents, memos, and other official documents. These informants included Jaka, the owner of the Instagram account @tebingtinggiku, and two followers, namely @chindykhr_ and @nwanny12, who emphasized that the use of social media by the @tebingtinggiku account as a platform for public service information has had a significant impact on the law enforcement process in the City of Tebing Tinggi. This platform has been utilized optimally to ensure more effective law enforcement efforts in the region.
