Abstract

Traffic safety training whose material needed a concrete visualization aspect. To accommodate this, teaching materials were needed to support the learning process. This study aims to describe the results of needs analysis which is the first step of the Research & Development process conducted with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are done by conducting research through documentation, observation, and interviews. The results of the needs analysis have been found several problems, that is the heterogeneous characteristics from training participants, limited experience of training participants, limited training time, lack of teaching materials, and training implementation locations throughout Indonesia. Hyper content-based printing modules are a great alternative because they can bring related factual aspects of traffic safety to training participants. In the next research, it is expected to develop a hyper content-based traffic safety training module.

Abstract

The main factor of air pollution in Indonesia is motorized vehicles. Motorized vehicles operating on the road will produce exhaust gas emissions which result in air pollution. In overcoming exhaust gas emissions in vehicles, the Ministry of Transportation conducts training for exhaust emission inspection, and conducts training at one of the technical implementation units, namely the Indonesian Land Transportation Polytechnic (PTDI) STTD. The purpose of this study was to conduct a needs analysis to develop a hyper content learning module for training on exhaust emission examinations, using the R&D (research and Development) method using the Derek Rowntree model. The hyper content module is a module that combines hypertext, hyperlinks, and hypermedia, and the media used in the form of video, QR code, YouTube, and cloud computing. With the development of the hyper content module, it is possible to improve the understanding and learning outcomes of training participants in studying exhaust emissions from vehicles when compared to conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate “Photo Math” in teaching Elementary Algebra.  Specifically, it aimed to identify the effect of teaching Elementary Algebra with the use of “Photo Math”. To achieved these objectives, the researchers used qualitative, quantitative and experimental design. This was conducted through a separate teaching demo in Elementary Algebra of the two Grade 7 sections. Pre-test was administered before the conduct of the demo and post-test after the teaching demo. The study showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results of the section with “Photo Math” as intervention. Moreover, there was also a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results of the section without the said application as intervention. However, it showed that there was no significant difference between the two section. The first section showed that there was an effect to the performance of the students when “Photo Math” was applied as teaching tool but it was not fully claimed when compared with the traditional method of teaching. This was because the sample size of the study is small so it was recommended to have a larger number of sample size to see the effect of “Photo Math” in teaching Elementary Algebra. The study implied that Photo math as a teaching tool had an effect on teaching elementary algebra.

Abstract

Selection of outstanding school librarians due to increased information literacy has an impact on student achievement but in the implementation of the scientific skills assessment some participants do not understand the testing standards and have difficulty interpreting the principles of the measured test. The research objective was to examine the relationship between academic ability and scientific skills. Respondents amounted to 35 school library staff using purposive sampling. Validity and reliability were analyzed from the highest assessment of each level of education based on the top three rankings using the Spearman rank correlation. The results showed a significant relationship between academic ability and scientific skills of outstanding school library staff with ρ value = 0.784 and ρ table at α = 5% was 0.683. That is, high academic ability results in an increase in the scientific skills of outstanding school librarians. This research has implications for maintaining the professional balance of library personnel who are integrated with technological developments that have a positive impact on schools in dealing with the transition to electronic-based systems.
