Abstract

The global demand for essential oil from Amomum cardamomum continues to rise due to its applications in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. Conventional extraction methods such as hydrodistillation face efficiency limitations due to prolonged processing times and potential thermal degradation of active compounds. This study aims to investigate the extraction kinetics of cardamom seed oil using the Solvent-Free Microwave Extraction (SFME) method and to compare the suitability of first-order and second-order kinetic models. This experimental laboratory research used cardamom seeds sourced from local farmers in Lampung. The extraction process was conducted with microwave power variations of 300, 450, and 600 W over durations ranging from 15 to 90 minutes. The oil yield was measured directly, and the data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel Solver to calculate the extraction rate constants (k₁ and k₂), saturation concentration (Ys), determination coefficient (R²), and root mean square error (RMSE). The results showed that 450 W microwave power produced the highest yield, with an R² of 0.9902 and an RMSE of 0.0851. The first-order kinetic model was found to best represent the extraction process compared to the second-order model. One advantage of this model is its simplicity in explaining how oil yield changes with varying extraction rates over time. In conclusion, SFME is an efficient and environmentally friendly green technology with strong predictive capabilities for extraction kinetics. The implications of this research provide a scientific basis for the sustainable optimization of essential oil production from tropical plants.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low interest and understanding of students in the topic Exploring Countries and ASEAN Cooperation in sixth-grade Social Studies, which is due to the limited availability of engaging and interactive learning media. The aim of this study was to develop and analyze a literacy-based interactive digital comic as a learning medium, and to examine its feasibility, students' responses, and its effectiveness. The development model used was the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research subjects were 23 sixth-grade students. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The instruments used were questionnaire sheets and multiple-choice tests. Data analysis techniques were conducted using both descriptive qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results showed that the value of t obtained was greater than the t table (2.839 > 0.914), indicating that the literacy-based digital comic on exploring countries and ASEAN cooperation is effective in helping students achieve scores above the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKTP). The media was also effective in improving students’ understanding of the Social Studies material. The implication of this research is that literacy-based interactive digital comics can serve as an innovative alternative medium to support meaningful and enjoyable Social Studies learning.

Abstract

Although mathematics learning at the Elementary School level has undergone various innovations, many students still have difficulty understanding mathematical concepts. To overcome this problem, a learning media is needed to stimulate students' cognitive activities, such as E-LKPD (Electronic Student Worksheet) based on APOS Theory (Action, Process, Object, Schema), which emphasizes the stages of students' mathematical thinking development. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of E-LKPD based on APOS theory (Action, Process, Object, Schema), which is valid, practical, and effective in improving students' adaptive reasoning. The development model used is the ADDIE model. The subjects of this study were 30 fourth-grade students. The trial subjects included lecturers, teachers and students. The data collection methods and instruments used were interviews, observations, questionnaires and tests. Data analysis techniques included quantitative, qualitative and inferential descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that E-LKPD media based on APOS theory effectively improves students' adaptive reasoning on mathematical material, picture patterns, and number patterns in fourth-grade students. Based on APOS theory, this study implies that E-LKPD can be an alternative digital learning media that supports meaningful learning and the development of high-level thinking skills from an early age.

Abstract

Student learning outcomes in mathematics, particularly in data presentation, are still relatively low. This is due to the use of conventional teaching methods that are uninteresting and unsuited to students' learning styles, resulting in poor conceptual understanding and low motivation to learn. This study aims to create an ICARE-based animated video medium. This is a research and development (R&D) study using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate). The research subjects include subject matter experts, instructional designers, learning media specialists, and 32 fourth-grade students. Data were collected using Likert scale questionnaires and multiple-choice tests, while the instruments used were questionnaire sheets and test sheets. Data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive statistics and a one-sample t-test. The results of the study indicate that the developed animated video media have excellent quality based on expert evaluations and student trials. In conclusion, the use of animated video media based on the ICARE model in data presentation materials can enhance students' conceptual understanding and learning motivation in fourth-grade elementary school. Implications suggest that the application of this media can serve as an innovative alternative to improve the quality of mathematics education and support more interactive and engaging learning methods for students.

Abstract

Voluntary disclosure is an essential aspect for companies to measure sustainability and corporate responsibility for the environment. This study aims to examine whether there is an influence between firm value and the availability of the company's website on voluntary disclosure. The population in this study are all companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2024 with purposive sampling. Observation data amounted to 92 non-financial companies. Data were collected from the company's financial statements and annual reports. Multiple regression tests were used to analyze this research. The results showed that the presence of firm value and company website has a significant effect on voluntary disclosure. This finding indicates that firm values and company websites influence voluntary disclosure. Digital transparency has a significant role in encouraging voluntary disclosure by firms in Indonesia; increased digital transparency not only strengthens stakeholder trust but also positively contributes to increased firm value. In conclusion, digital transparency significantly increases firm value through a positive influence on the level of voluntary disclosure. The findings suggest that companies in Indonesia that effectively implement digital transparency tend to be more open in disclosing information, thereby strengthening investor confidence and improving corporate reputation. The implication is that increased digital transparency may encourage companies in Indonesia to make more extensive and accurate voluntary disclosures. This ultimately contributes to increased firm value through the creation of investor confidence and information efficiency in the market.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of flipped classroom innovations through the implementation of a culturo-techno-contextual approach, specifically focusing on enhancing critical thinking skills among biology students while considering gender differences. Critical thinking is recognised as a vital competency for 21st-century learners to analyse, evaluate, and synthesise information for informed decision-making. The research methodology employed in this study is a Concurrent Embedded Design. The quantitative aspect involves a quasi-experimental design, wherein a sample of 295 secondary school biology students is divided into an experimental group, which engages with the culturo-techno-contextual flipped classroom model, two positive control groups, and one negative control group. The qualitative component encompasses the results of observations, the completion of worksheets, and reflective learning experiences from both students and teachers. Quantitative data were analysed using two-way ANCOVA, while qualitative data were analysed descriptively. The results showed that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group in critical thinking assessment. Furthermore, gender analysis showed that both male and female students benefited from the cultural-techno-contextual approach, with female students showing higher improvements in critical thinking skills compared to male students. This study contributes to the existing literature by demonstrating the efficacy of a culturo-techno-contextual flipped classroom model in enhancing critical thinking skills, while also addressing the importance of gender considerations in educational outcomes. The findings underscore the potential of innovative pedagogical strategies to create inclusive learning environments that foster critical thinking across diverse student populations.
