"Islamic State versus National State" was a heated political issue throughout the 1950s that created highly tense and dividing debates among Indonesias political communities. President Soekarno, a leading proponent of National State, raised this issue for the first time in his speech in Amuntai on January 27th, 1953. The present paper contends that this speech was crucial for the political discourse contestations that followed between the religiously-neutral Nasionalist camp and the Islamic camp. The former argued against the latters idea of building an Islamic state in Indonesia and proposed instead, a secular state that guarantees the right of its citizens to observe their religious teachings. The value of Soekarnos speech could be seen from reactions it generated from the supporters of Islamic State who called it a smear campaign and a doctrine dangerous to their struggle to erect an Islamic state in Indonesia.

Khitan is called circumcision in English. It is the surgical removal of the foreskin from the penis. In Banjarese society, circumcisions celebration is called basunat. Basunat as rite of passage is one of important stages for Banjareses life. Socially, the tradition maintains the collectiveness and integration of Banjarese society. According to anthropology view, basunat may be understood as a liminal condition. Liminal is a condition of betwixt and between. In this condition, subject of rite experiences a formed stage. Furthermore, according to philosophy view, the tradition reflects the exsistence of human being and its relation with other existences.

Memprediksi batu permata dilakukan oleh Sulaiman bin Rawi di Kecamatan Kapuas Timur adalah dalam rangka untuk mengetahui khasiat dari batu permata tersebut. Adapun peralatan untuk mengetahui khasiat batu permata adalah benang, batu permata, panduan khusus berupa kerta yang bergambar lingkaran yang di dalamya bertentuk jari-jari. Pada lingkaran dan jari-jari terdapat tulisan nama 25 orang nabi serta khasiat khasiat batu permata yang menggunakan tulisan huruf Arab Melayu dan ketika hendak mengetahui khasiat batu permata dengan menggunakan bacaan tertentu dari ayat Alquran, (QS: An-Naml :30). Adapun cara untuk mengetahui khasiat sebuah batu permata adalah batu permata diikat dengan benang dan ujung benang dipegang dengan telunjuk dan ibu jari. Benang diangkat sehingga batu bergantung tepat di atas sebuah panduan yang berbentuk lingkaran yang bertuliskan nama nabi dan khasiat batu permata. Dalam posisi tangan yang tidak bergerak dibacakan ayat Alquran surah An-Naml ayat 30, kemudian terlihat batu permata bergerak atau berayun dengan sendirinya dan menuju nama nabi dan khasiat tertentu. Sehingga diketahu khasiat atau baik tidaknya sebuah batu permata itu. Sebagian masyarakat Banjar mempercayai masing-masing batu permata yang alami mempunyai khasiat seperti: menolak kefakiran, mengangkat derajat, menyembuhkan penyakit, membuat kebal dan lain-lain. Hal ini semata-mata kelebihan yang merupakan anugerah dari Allah kepada benda atau ciptaan-Nya.

Undang-undang Sultan Adam sebagai perangkat hukum peninggalan masa lalu kurang mendapatkan perhatian baik dari kalangan para ahli hukum maupun dari sejarawan, bahkan sampai sekarang ini teks peraturan itu belum pernah ditulis dalam bahasa Indonesia karena sampai saat ini dokumen itu masih tertulis dalam bahasa Melayu/Banjar disertai terjemahannya dalam bahasa Belanda. Karena itu wajar apabila dokumen hukum itu tidak tersebar secara meluas dikalangan para ilmuan. Di sampimg itu dokumen hukum itu juga penting sebagai informasi bagi generasi mendatang tentang keberhasilan yang pernah dicapai oleh nenek moyang mereka dimasa lampau dalam menetapkan hukum di dalam masyarakatnya.

This paper discusses about the spiritual culture in Kesultanan Banjar seeing from the historical perspective and its relevancy with the life today. The spiritual culture in banjar society can be seen from life cycle since birthday till die. Many of them were modified and fitted with the Islamic teaching. So that, the Islamic dimension is more explicit that the culture one. Kesultanan in varies cultural events ought to make the understanding to the society that Kesultanan Banjar is very concern to the spiritual culture and give the meaning for a material culture developing in many aspect of life. Besides, in any opportunity it may put the strength spiritual culture programm in order to be implemented in many sides of development.Â

This paper speaks about the development of Islamic Banjar people reason in historical and philosophical approach. Started with the introduction of Islamic reason and banjar people as the subject and object studies. Then will be discussed about the development of religion reason and the Islamic banjar reason historically and philosophically. The writer in his paper states that the pre-mystical Islamic religion reason has changed to the mystical Islamic reason, then grew and developed to be a formal Islamic reason and finally became the Islamic scientific reason that did not grow yet fully. Actually, the development of a reason to the other is not a linier thing or change each other but its overlapping, that when come the new reason the old one is still exist.
