Abstract

This article traces back the entry of the Shi?a in South Kalimantan through the inclusion of Islamic Wujudiyah (panentheism) Sufismwhich was firstspreadin the kingdom of Banjar.  This isdue to the similaritybetween Wujudiyah Sufism with the concept of Irfan in Shi'a. However, the influence of Shia in  South Kalimantan  suffered a setback atthe era  of Syekh Muhammad al-Banjari Arsyad (1710-1812 AD).  According to Habib Ali,Shia began to revive in South Kalimantan after the Iranian revolution in 1979.  Ja?fari school of thought (madhabs)  is the growing Shiah in South Kalimantan. Abstract

The essence of society is an integral part of the discussion of the philosophy of Islamic education. Fazlur Rahman even conclude that the primary purpose of the Qur?an is to enforce a social order that?s fair and ideal. As a community order which emphasizes tolerance, democracy and civilized, civil society to contribute positively to the needs of Muslims today. For the basic concept of philosophy of Islamic education should be placed in the context of civil society supra-system of education in which it will be applied. Therefore reconstruction of Islamic educational philosophy into something very urgent and relevant to today?s problems of Islamic education.

Abstract

The development of popular culture, particularly,in the development of information technology such as as television, mobile phones, and the Internet,  have an impact on the creation of a new reality called hyper-reality. Media,in this case,is able to reconstruct a new reality through the sophisticated technology. The construction of this medium also penetratesthe religious area. This can be seen in the figure of Abdullah Gymnastiar (Aa Gym). Through the medium of information, Aa Gym is not only seen as a religious teacher who offers a depth of spirituality but also as a celebrity through the image formed. This paper aims to identify and describe the phenomenon of celebrity cleric/ ustadzAbdullah Gymnastiar in popular culture, using hyper-semioticsapproachof Yasraf Amir Piliang. This paper attempts to explain the new realityof diversity of Abdullah Gymnastiar. Through the hyper-semioticsapproach, religious hyper-reality form can be described scientifically.

Abstract

This article is aimed to describe dialectical relation between Islamic philosophy (hikmah) and Islamic religious doctrin (syarî’ah). The tension between two has emerged since declination of rational theology (Mu’tazilite) and since the rise of ortodox theology (Asy’arite). Al-Ghazâlî, one of prominent scholars of the Asy’arite, has attacked Moslem philosophers, such as Ibn Sînâ. This article has came to the conclusion that in such tension, in which religion and rational thought met, the two neither reached utterly different results, nor yet were they identical, but seemed to run parallel to one another.

Abstract

Islamic Reform in the early of 20th century in South Kalimantan was spread through a number of ways: through the alumni and scholars of the Middle East, inter-island Banjar trader, written media (magazines and books), Islamic organizations, and educational institutions. These reformations changes the map of religious thought in which there are two major camps:  kaum muda and kaum tuha. In some cases, those two camps engaged in a polemic thought in a number of religious issues
