Abstract

In the highly competitive consumer goods industry in Nigeria, achieving a dominant market share is a crucial factor for long-term business success. This study aims to analyze the impact of entrepreneurial orientation on the market share of specific consumer goods companies listed in Nigeria. The research adopts a cross-sectional survey design, involving 568 respondents selected from the target population. Data were collected using a validated structured questionnaire, with reliability test results showing Cronbach's alpha values ranging from 0.721 to 0.892. A response rate of 90.5% was achieved. Data analysis was conducted using multiple regression to identify the relationships between components of entrepreneurial orientation—creativity, competitive aggressiveness, proactiveness, risk-taking, and planning flexibility—and market share. The findings reveal that all components of entrepreneurial orientation have a significant impact on market share (Adj. R² = 0.791; F(5,441) = 339.129; p < 0.001). These results underscore the importance of entrepreneurial orientation in enhancing company performance. The study recommends that company managers integrate entrepreneurial strategies for more effective decision-making, target achievement, and performance optimization. The implications of this research are expected to support the sustainability of company performance in Nigeria's consumer goods industry.

This study aims to examine the use of office automation as a tool for reducing manual tasks and errors in document management among office managers at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. The study employed a survey design with a population consisting of 100 office managers (secretaries) within the research area. The research instrument was a self-developed and validated questionnaire used to collect relevant data. The collected data were processed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Weighted mean and standard deviation were applied to answer the research questions, using an index score of 2.5 as the agreement threshold. The findings revealed that office automation tools are utilized by office managers to alleviate manual tasks and errors in document management. Office automation has a positive impact on reducing manual workload and errors, although office managers face various challenges in its utilization. Based on these findings, it is recommended that prospective office managers undergo adequate training and skills development to ensure effective adoption and utilization of office automation tools. Additionally, business organizations are advised to procure and provide office automation tools to enhance the productivity of their office managers.

Abstract

It is astonishing that many senior school-aged adolescents in Oyo State do not grasp English or make grammatically acceptable responses, but freely express themselves in Yoruba. This study therefore comparatively analyse school-going adolescents’ attitudes to English and Yoruba Languages in Oyo State, Nigeria. This was a descriptive survey of research type. The population for this study comprised all school-going adolescents in Oyo State. Four hundred and seventy-one (471) school-going adolescents were sampled for this study using a multi-stage sampling technique. A researcher’s designed questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.77 was used for data collection while the data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics of percentage to answer the research questions and inferential statistics of independent t-test and a two-way Analysis of Variance (2-way ANOVA) to test the hypotheses postulated at 0.05 alpha level. Findings from this study revealed that the most widely spoken language among secondary school students in Oyo State was English; the attitude of secondary school students to English and Yoruba Languages was positive. It was therefore recommended among others that school-going adolescents in school should maintain a positive attitude towards learning English without abandoning their home tongue, particularly Yoruba, to enhance their academic performance; English and Yoruba teachers can engage students by simplifying and sequentially teaching language to foster a positive attitude towards learning.

Abstract

The issues of xenophobia and conflict in Africa remain significant challenges to achieving peace and sustainable development. This study aims to examine the concepts of love and tolerance as essential arts that can serve as a central force for fostering peace in Africa. Love is understood as the divine essence that creates and unites all things, while tolerance is considered its derivative, supporting harmony in human existence. The study employs a qualitative method, with data collected through literature reviews and historical analyses of the colonial impact on the values of love, tolerance, and interpersonal relationships in Africa. The findings reveal that love and tolerance are mutually reinforcing qualities essential for establishing peace and social harmony. However, colonialism prioritized the exploitation of natural resources and the division of African societies, thereby hindering the cultivation of these values. The study concludes by emphasizing the importance of fostering an environment that promotes unity by encouraging Africans to accept one another as brothers, transcending national, religious, and cultural differences. It recommends that African governments develop policies and create environments that allow individuals to live and work across the continent without discrimination, provided legal requirements for migration and residency are met. These measures aim to reduce xenophobic tendencies and promote sustainable peace and development in Africa.

Abstract

This study investigated the attitudes of undergraduates at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, towards premarital counseling and examined whether gender and religiosity influenced their attitudes towards premarital counseling. The research was motivated by the need to understand the perceptions of young adults regarding counseling services as a preventive measure for marital challenges. The study adopted a descriptive survey method, involving 273 undergraduates as the sample population. Data were collected using a self-developed questionnaire. The mean (X) and standard deviation (S.D) were utilized for descriptive analysis, while t-test statistics for two independent samples were employed to test the research hypotheses at a 0.05 significance level. The findings revealed that undergraduates in Ambrose Alli University exhibit a negative (restrictive) attitude towards premarital counseling. Additionally, gender and religiosity were found to have no significant influence on these attitudes. The study concludes that the negative perception of premarital counseling among students may hinder their ability to benefit from its preventive and informative potential. It is recommended that guidance counselors be employed in all tertiary institutions to provide students with orientation and information services regarding premarital counseling. These findings imply the need for institutional interventions to address misconceptions and promote the relevance of counseling services.

Abstract

In recent times, many students have cheated on exams. Factors related to curriculum content activities and successful completion of all topics expected to be taught to students at various levels of Islamic education, within the specified time period were found to be very ineffective in today's schools. This research aims to examine the implementation of the Islamic studies curriculum in senior high schools. A descriptive survey design was used in this study. A total of 9,231 people constituted the study population while three hundred and sixty eight (368) participants were sampled using Krejcie and Morgan's sampling table. Five (5) research questions were asked and answered. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics with the help of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences. The research design adopted for this study is a descriptive survey.  The research results show that the availability of qualified Islamic studies teachers is necessary for the successful implementation of the Islamic Studies curriculum in high schools. Considering these findings, the research concludes that the use of appropriate teaching methods in teaching the Islamic Studies curriculum has proven to be effective because qualified teachers and teacher capacity development increase the success of implementing the Islamic Studies curriculum which has not yet been fully implemented in senior secondary schools. Implications of this research can provide insight into the effectiveness of curriculum implementation, identify challenges faced in the learning process, and offer recommendations for improvements to improve the quality of Islamic Studies education.

Abstract

Infant mortality from vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) remains a public health problem. Low immunization coverage can hamper the effectiveness of infectious disease prevention in infants. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of immunization in preventing VPD, increasing the body's resistance to infection, and reducing infant mortality. This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey design. The study population consisted of 150 women, with all of them being sampled using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity by health experts and tested for reliability using the test-retest method. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, and averages, with the help of SPSS version 22. The results showed that immunization is effective in preventing VPD, increasing infants' resistance to infectious diseases, and reducing infant mortality. The conclusion of this study confirms that immunization is a significant health intervention in reducing the risk of infection and infant mortality. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of educating mothers about the benefits of immunization and the need for community-based strategies to increase immunization coverage.
