Abstract

Umpire test (referee test) may be conducted by the coal supplier based on the potential loss due to the difference Certificate of Analysis (COA) in both ports (loading and unloading). The purpose of the research was to determine a comparison of COA from non-probability sampling compiled with standard. The research method used quantitative methods by collecting COA data on both ports. These data on the receipt of coal was obtained from a coal-fired steam power plant (PLTU). A Sampling at both ports was conducted by the non-probability sampling method. The assumption was determined that the sample preparation and analysis process had complied with the American Standard Testing and Material (ASTM) standards. The ratio of ash (dry basis) in both COA to its average was processed statistically by taking confidence intervals with a confidence level of 95%. This research showed that the ratio was in the range of 10.213% up to 16.793%, exceeding precision 10% as required by ASTM D2234-16. Therefore, the comparison of COA data from non-probability sampling, could not be used as a reference for the doubt of the work of independent surveyors e.g. COA unloading, then it is technically that umpire test could not be conducted by such comparison.

Abstract

The source of waste produced by PT PLN (Persero) UPDL Tuntungan comes from offices and classrooms, mess and dormitories, parks and roads as well as dining rooms. We need a good waste management system planning for optimisation existing waste treatment. The research objective is to calculate the generation and composition, plan operational techniques and waste management schemes. The method of measuring the generation and composition of waste uses SNI 19-3964-1994. The results of the study showed that the solid waste generation based on the maximum capacity produced was 210.10 kg/day or 1,752.23 l/day with the composition of the solid waste produced as a whole of food remaining 11.20%, wood and plant waste 65.07%, fabric/textile 1.59%, rubber 1.26%, plastic 10.80%, metal 0.75%, glass, 1.14%, paper 5.34%, tissue 1.29%, and styrofoam 1, 56%. Garbage operational techniques that will be planned starting from storage using a 20L bin will be divided into 5 types, namely organic, plastic, paper, etc. and hazardous and toxic materials, and placed 1 container of 120L size garbage for trash from the dining room. Collection and transfer using 660L depot transfer. Transporting garbage using a 1 m3 garbage motor to the TPS for further composting and sorting. For garbage that still has a sale value, it is sold to pelapak and the residual waste is taken to the landfill.

Abstract

This research aims is to increase engine power by raising the air temperature and fuel temperature into the engine and its effect on the resulting of SFC. Diesel engines that are use turbocharger, the air temperatures have increased but the fuel temperature is still fixed. The problem is how if the air temperature and fuel temperature are raised whether the engine power will increase and the SFC will change. This study was conducted with experiments using a car that the air temperature is adjusted up to 100oC and the fuel temperature that goes into the engine is made a maximum of 70oC. The test results show that with rising air temperatures and fuel temperatures going into the average power engine will raise and save fuel, power and saving SFC occurs at 90°C and 70oC fuel. Rotation of engine that can produce power and fuel-efficient is at around 2000 rpm.

Abstract

Controlling electrical equipment within a certain time frame is one thing that is quite important. By controlling existing equipment in the house such as air conditioning, TV, fans, etc. It is often found that some electrical tools that survive are not used, in addition to waste also shortens the life of the electrical appliances. Therefore we need control and supervision of electrical devices using intelligent power strips. IoT or commonly known as the internet from things that are concepts that are intended to get the concept of the benefits of internet connectivity that is connected continuously. This concept can be used for monitoring and controlling electrical equipment that connects smart electrical terminals or power strips. By using an electrical terminal device that is paired with a system and module that can be controlled using a smartphone. Android is one of the many smartphone OSes that can bridge or facilitate all human work, one of which is in terms of control, which functions from this android as a remote control media that can be accessed by electronic devices in the home and certainly has connected first with the IoT module. This study discusses making smart sockets or smart power strips that can be rotated using a smartphone so that any electrical equipment can be used on users who do not use home.

Abstract

Electrical energy has a very important role in national economic growth. With the electrical energy requirements, it is necessary to operate an economical, reliable and quality system. The creation of a template for operating load forecasting for the Java-Bali system uses a coefficient method to calculate weekly loads, daily loads, and loads per ½ hour which is more user friendly. After this Load Forecasting template is applied, the result is a more efficient load deepening in terms of file size and time, and is more effective with the results of the calculation of electric energy (1.71%), electricity load (0.85%), and load factor 79% from planning data and manual realization.

Abstract

Expansion of the electrical network and substation makes a demand of the telecommunication channel for SCADA system is high. Telecommunication infrastructure which operates based on Power Line Carrier (PLC) can not provide adequate supply. Therefore, It needs new media to fulfill the demands of the telecommunication channel for SCADA System. Selection methods will be done by comparing technical and non-technical aspects of various telecommunication media that operates in the PLN network. One of suitable media is microwave radiolink. With high capacity and bandwidth, microwave radiolink can be the backbone of SCADA System

Abstract

To prepare the ability of human resources, HR competencies are needed that are suitable both in terms of hard competency or soft competency. In order to develop themselves, they must know what are their strengths and weaknesses. The means to find out the strengths and weaknesses of PLN itself is carried out by individual feedback mechanisms. After participating in the assessment activities, employees will be given the results of the assessment. Notification of the results of the assessment is given verbally which usually includes feedback. In individual feedback, it will be told about what are the strengths, what are the weaknesses and how to reduce the competency gap they have. During this time the way to reduce the competency gap is given directly by the feedbacker. There is one method so that feedbackee (who is given feedback in this case the user who has followed the assessment) is easy to implement how to close the gap, that is, if the way to close the gap is out of the ideas of the asesee themselves, of course with the guidance of the feedbacker who knows the science of how to eliminate the gap competence. The method that matches the above method is the coaching method. The results obtained using the coaching method in the feedback assessment activities become a more effective solution to reduce the competency gap.

Abstract

The Development of Extra High Voltage (EHV) overhead power lines ( SUTET 500 kV) has become a national issue because based on several studies worldwide that shown residents who living next to power lines could increase the risk of their health problems. Therefore, there were huge protests from residents in Singosari and Gresik in 1991. The protest also happened in 2004, in which residents from Sumedang, Bogor, Cianjur, and Majalengka marching to Presidential Palace in Jakarta altogether. As a consequence, PLN and Faculty of Engineering of Gajah Mada University in 2005 developed collaborative research to identify HV and EHV required clearance of distance. This research refers to the WHO standard which determines the maximum of magnetic and electric field allowed, also refers to the Ministry of Mineral and Energy Resources Regulation No.01.P/47/M.PE/1992 which determines the minimum clearance distance between HV/ EVH bottom conductor with the ground as the safety levels concerning human exposure to electromagnetic fields. As the enactment regulation of the Ministry of Mineral and Energy Resources No. 18 of 2018 and its amendment No.2 of 2019, the regulation of HV, EHV, and also HVDC (High Voltage – Direct Current) free space and required clearance distance is determined. This research describes the comparison between PLN-UGM collaborative research with both Ministry regulation mentioned above.

Abstract

Organizational changes in the PLN environment have an impact on business functions, one of which is the addition of new positions, both structural and functional. This condition influences the increasing number of assessment requests. Therefore it is necessary to make an effective service strategy to be able to provide fast and accurate services for users of assessment services. Online objective test as a solution to the problem. The analysis was carried out using the SWOT method and Weighted Ranking Decision. This test provides a significant efficiency for PLN in terms of time and cost. Also, PlN also has exclusive psychological testing material and is protected from copyright infringement, reduces the risk of leakage of test material, and enhances the company's image.

Abstract

Misalignment is one of the problems that often occurs in rotary equipment. In this paper, the observation was done to the rotary machine model in response to changes of axial misalignment by using vibration meter and infrared thermography camera. The model was a machine series, consisting of electric motor and disc which was connected by 3 Jaw flexible coupling. The shafts were positioned into several axial misalignment conditions to see the effect on the overall vibration value and its component temperature. The result of vibration observation showed that under certain conditions, by increasing shaft misalignment then the overall vibration value tends to decrease. With the decrease of overall vibration value, the machine condition was not in better condition. This was indicated by observing the temperature of the components in this condition, which showed the opposite fact. As misalignment increases, the temperature of the engine components also increases.
