The Journal of Midwifery (JoM) is a scientific periodical/journal maintained by Undergraduate Program of Midwifery, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Andalas, Padang, Indonesia. This journal provides a venue for the publication of research relevant to midwives, midwifery practice and education. It publishes quantitative and qualitative original research articles, review articles, short communications, and case reports in a broad range of clinical and education including sexual and reproductive health, full spectrum of midwifery from antenatal and intrapartum care, to the postpartum period, including issues of neonatal care, family planning, menopause, women’s empowerment and reproductive rights.

Abstract

Continuity of midwifery care (CoC) is one of midwifery care that’s given by the same midwife during antenatal care to get birth preparedness. Birth preparedness includes recognize danger signs, identifying skilled birth attendant, identifying birth location, saving money, arranging for transportation and identifying blood donors. The objective of this study was to know the relationship of CoC during antenal with birth preparedness in working area of seberang padang public health center 2017.This study is An observational analitycs with cross sectional design to 58 respondents in working area of Seberang Padang Public Health Center during December 2016 – September 2017 that are taken with consecutive sampling technique. Data collection by using a validated questionnaire and MCH book observation. Data were analyzed using Chi-square.From the results of the study there are 51.7% respondents who did CoC during ANC and 41.4% considered being prepared in birth preparedness. The result of statistic test showed that there is relation between CoC during antenatal and birth preparedness (p=0,001; OR=8,250; 95%CI 2,541-26,781). So it can be concluded that There is relation between CoC during antenatal and birth preparedness

Abstract

Satisfaction is someone’s level of approval when comparing perceived performance or result with his or her expectation. Satisfaction assessment aims to determine the quality of a service. Based on the preliminary survey, Lubuk Buaya Public Health Center has the largest number of BPJS Health participants in Padang, but the scope of maternity gets decreased. This study seeks to investigate the relevant factors that influence the satisfaction assessment of BPJS Health participants with maternity services in the working area of Lubuk Buaya Public Health Center in Padang in 2017.This study was quantitative research with cross sectional design and was conducted in the working area of Lubuk Buaya Public Health Center from May to July 2017. Sample of this research were 75 puerperal mothers. Data were collected by using questionnaire. Data analysis was performed by using univariate and bivariate.The results showed that there are 26 dissatisfied respondents (34.7%) and 49 satisfied respondents (65.3%). Based on the analysis of maternal satisfaction level, the satisfaction of BPJS Health participants in the working area of Lubuk Buaya Public Health Center was 76.13%. The result of bivariate analysis showed that there was no correlation between participants’ age (p=0,198), membership of BPJS Health (p=0,961), and previous service (p = 0,673), but there was a correlation between education (p=0,001), employment (p=0,001) and parity (p=0,035) with assessment of BPJS Health participants in working area of Lubuk Buaya Public Health Center in Padang in 2017.There was a correlation between education, employment, and parity with the assessment of BPJS Health participants who got maternity services. Therefore, health workers have to do evaluation about  the maternity services in order to improve maternity satisfaction of BPJS Health participants.

Abstract

Antenatal care visits is a behavioral form in the utilization of health services to monitor pregnancy in purpose of improving maternal and fetal health. At public health center of Sungayang, the visit for K1 and K4 did not reach the target for the past three years. In 2016 the coverage for K1 was 70,6% dan K4 47,8% meanwhile the public health center target coverage  for K1 is 97% and K4 95%. This demonstrate the lack of expectant mothers who make antenatal care visits in accordance with the standardsThis study was a quantitative study with cross sectional design conducted at district of Sungayang health center from November 2016 – September 2017. Population and sample of this research is all of the third trimester pregnant women which amounted to 41 women. Data collected by observation and questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate.          The results showed 68.3% of pregnant women do antenatal care visits according to the standard. The result of bivariate analysis shows that there is no correlation between age (p = 1,000) and job (p = 0,077), there is correlation between education (p = 0,017), attitude (p = 0,014), and support of husband (p = 0,034) with antenatal care visits at district of Sungayang health center in 2017.There is an association between education, attitude, and support of the husband with antenatal care visits and there is a tendency correlation between knowledge with antenatal care visits.

Abstract

Cervical Cancer is the cancer with the second highest rate in Indonesian women and Awareness of childbearing women to Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) is still low so often cause death in women. This study aims to determine the Health Beliefs Model (HBM) of VIA on childbearing women in Lubuk Buaya primary health centre 2017.This study was an analytic observational study with cross sectional design, conducted from August - Sept 2017 took 98 respondents as the sample. Data were collected by using questionnaire. Data analysis was performed by using univariate and bivariate.The results showed that there was a significant relationship between education (p=0,001), perceived susceptibility (p=0,000), perceived seriousness (p=0,000), health motivation (p=0,000),  perceived benefits (p=0,000), and perceived barriers (p=0,000), with action cervical cancer early detection with VIA methods. There is a relationship between education, perceived susceptibility, perceived seriousness, health motivation perceived benefits, and perceived barriers to early detection of cervical cancer action with VIA methods on childbearing women in Padang Pasir primary health centre 2017. Suggested to Lubuk Buaya primary health centre to increase further dissemination and health promotion of cervical cancer early detection with VIA method through counseling about the importance of early detection with VIA method.

Abstract

Current National Guidelines recommends that 100% of postpartum women receive 2 high doses of vitamin A capsules (200.000 IU) within 30 days after giving birth, so the mother can transfer vitamin A to baby through breast milk. Midwife as health worker have big role to achieve this program. This study was aimed to determine correlation of midwife’s knowledge and attitude, and District Health Service’s support in the administration of vitamin A supplementation for postpartum women. This was a qualitative study with cross sectional study design among 32 midwives in working area of Puskesmas Seberang Padang and Puskesmas Pemancungan Kota Padang. The data was obtained using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed univariate by using frequency distribution and bivariate using chi square test.Majority of midwife (81,3%) gave vitamin A supplementation to postpartum women, there was a correlation between midwife knowledge with vitamin A administration in postpartum women (p=0,030), there was no correlation between midwife attitude and vitamin A administration in postpartum women  (p= 0,063, OR= 7,667, 95% CI= 1,035-56,770) and there was no correlation between district health service’s support with vitamin A administration in the postpartum women (p = 0,029, OR= 11,250, 95% CI= 1,125-112,535).There is a tendency correlation between midwife’s knowledge with vitamin A supplementation to postpartum women, no correlation between midwife’s attitude with vitamin A supplementation to postpartum women and there is a correlation between district health service’s support vitamin A supplementation to postpartum women . The health service is expected to improve the function of supervision and evaluation of midwife's performance
