Abstract

Evaluation of the water quality status at Abang Island Region was conducted by using the STORET and Canbera Similarity Indeks during Mei, June and October 2006. Thes analysis result shows that the water quality within this region was within the range of good to moderate. This condition indicate that the water quality status is still suitable and support for living marine biotic organism. During May, water quality was good and decrease in June and October due to the additional of the organic material from the land surface driven by precipitation as response to monsoonal change.Keywords : water quality, Abang island, Storet Index, Similarity Index, Canbera.

Abstract

Air bersih merupakan kebutuhan setiap orang, kebutuhan ini terus meningkat dari waktu ke waktu. Adanya keterbatasan pemerintah untuk mengolah air menjadi kendala masyarakat untuk memiliki akses dalam mendapatkan air bersih. Keberadaan sungai sebagai salah satu sumber air telah tercemar oleh limbah  rumah tangga dan polutan lainnya menjadikan air sungai tidak lagi dapat memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat. Oleh karena itu untuk mendapatkan air bersih yang memenuhi baku mutu air bersih diperlukan teknologi yang tepat. Salah satu teknologi yang di butuhkan dalam perencanaan unit pengolah air yang sesuai dan efisien untuk mengolah menjadi air bersih yaitu dengan menggunakan membran ultrafiltrasi. Dalam desain ini akan direncanakan pengolahan air bersih dengan kapasitas 50 m3/hari. kata kunci : Ultrafiltrasi, Desain, Air bersih

Abstract

Local wisdom is the people knowledge which comes from long evolved period between the people and their environment. Local wisdom by the some people is made as a basis in environment management based on sustainable development. Technology advancement in globalization era has impact to the development and existence of local wisdom, are values or the customs are considered have been outdated compared to the modern age advancement. On the other side, in fact the if reviewed the principles and concept of local wisdoms can live side bi side with this globalization era, even they can be made as a reference for the sustainable development, certainly after they going through empowerment of values and the local wisdom. Abstract

Textile Industry gives economic and fi nancial contribution to society, however it has negative impact to the environment, i.e. air pollution, bad smell and noise. For that reason, a study to evaluate exhaust gas emission of some industry textile was carried out from the stack. The aim of the study is to abtain SO2 gas concentration, which is emited from the stack A gas dispersion anlysis, it was indicated that SO2 gas concentration from the stack is still below the standard (1200 mg/m3). Thehighest SO2 concentration was 18 mg/m3 at about 200 meter away from the stack. Abstract

Current human activities have the potential to increase gas caused by the greenhouse effect. Increasing the temperature is not constant, but in the long time scales indicates that there has been global warming. In connection with efforts to save the earth from climate change in poor countries in the world through the UN session held in Bali have agreed to: (1) Bali Roadmap; (2) agreement on action to perform activities of adaptation to the negative impacts of climate change. Many people who took out the activities of carbon dioxide, kloroflorometan, nitrogen oxides, methane, aerosols, and heat or clearing land for housing, agriculture or logging. The greenhouse effect in nature has been going on for billions of years. Without water vapor and CO2 in the atmosphere,the temperature of the earth will be cooler 33 ° C compared to the current condition, so the earth becomes unfit for habitation. Thus, the greenhouse effect caused by water vapor and CO2 has a positive effect for human life. The problem right now is a greenhouse gas concentrations increasing beyond normal levels of natural as well as the emergence of several new greenhouse gases such as CFCs and CFC successors, which would cause further warming and increasingly threatening the environment carrying capacity. The world has undergone changes in temperature, season, and also increased the frequency of the most dramatic climate that requires continuous regulation to control the global climate system strictly.Keywords: greenhouse effect, global warming, climate change

Abstract

Waste water produced from Crude Palm Oil’s process in Palm Oil Mill (POM) is usually treated using water treatment ponds that consist of anaerobic ponds and aerobic ponds. It is known well, methane gas is generated from degradation of organic matter in anaerobic ponds. The methane gas results global warming impacts. Regarding to tackle the global warming impact, the methane gas generated from POM can be captured and flared to convert methane gas tocarbon dioxide. This study was conducted in one of the big capacity of Pinang Tinggi POM owned by PT Perkebunan Nusantara 3. Methane gas potential was investigated by using pH, COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and waste water measurement. And from these result the methane gas potential was predicted. In this study, using Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), capturing methane gas generated from anaerobic pond gave a result that the project can be an economically feasible based on the condition measured.Keywords : oil palm industry, methane gas, gas rumah kaca, CDM project(CleanDevelopment Mechanism), COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand)

Abstract

Energy conservation is the responsibility of national governments, provincialgovernments, district / city governments, employers and society. In this regard, it is conducted in this study is to examine the extent to which local governments implement energy conservation policies applied in office buildings or government owned office buildings. The study results show that there are 3 (three) categories of the efforts made by the agency that became the target sample. The third category is the category minor, moderate and major. Policies, programs and energy saving measures carried out by UGM and PT. PAL is the major categories (innovative). While the energy saving measures undertaken by the agency PUP - ESDM provinces DIY is in the middle category. The results of the energy savings made by the agency that became the target sample benefits budget savings in the payment of electricity bills. Cost Benefit Analysis of results showed that the replacement of some facilities building electric-poweredoffice equipment with energy-efficient appliances provide financial benefits in the form of significant budget savings. The role of leadership commitment will determine the successful implementation of energy saving programs and water. Fossil energy savings will decrease the GHG emissions .keywords : global warming, cost benefit, energy conservation

Abstract

Dimension of aerated lagoon and another unit operation in this system can easy counted by this software. This software uses VISUAL BASIC6 computer language. Waste water treated have pH between 6.5 and 8, biodegradable waste and BOD less than 500. This waste water treatment need big fi eld and separate far away from people because bad smelt.This software also will guess BOD output and fl ow diagram this system.Key words: aerated lagoon, biodegradable, BOD, pH
