Abstract

Credit sales in a company have greater risks than cash sales do. An excellent internal control is needed over the accounting system of credit sales, receivables and cash receipts to reduce the occurrence of these risks. This study aims to evaluate, identify weaknesses and limitations of internal control and suggests some improvements as needed. The methods used are literary study on books, textbook, and other related literatures; field research by interviewing the relevant parts and observing the company activities, forms and accounting records used.

Abstract

This study aims to design a website of the Jakarta regional office of Culture and Tourism by combining the concept of web 2.0 and mashup. This concept combines several APIs (Application Programming Interface) into a new application. The APIs used are Facebook, Google Maps, Twitter, and Yahoo Weather. The created site applies the latest technology and advanced multimedia elements. With the combination of all elements above, a more interactive and dynamic site is succesfully obtained.

Abstract

This article discusses about the influence of sinusoidal sandbars towards the amplitude of incident wave. sinusoidal sandbars may lead to Bragg resonance. Basically, when a wave meets a different depth, it will scatter into a transmitted wave and a reflected wave. Bragg resonance happens when the wavelength of incident wave is twice of the wavelength of the periodic bottom disturbance. We apply the multi-scale asymptotic expansion to obtain the results. Eventually we find that a larger amplitude disturbance leads to larger reflected wave amplitude. This result explains that the sinusoidal sandbars indeed can reduce the amplitude of incident wave and protect a beach from large amplitude incident waves.

Abstract

A study program which represents a college will always attempt to link its activities with the needs of society and industry as for its graduates to be recognized outside. Various activities such as internships, industry reviews, theses, and others the need to show the results individually and be exposed widely, so that it becomes part of student testimonials at work. Displaying and publishing the work of academic community can be done with the support of information technology through a web-based application, called virtual gallery application, based on a content-management-system. The research object is limited on work of student activities on a study program. The base to manage and publish the work of academic community uses: (1) object-oriented method (2) web-based application development. Theevaluation results make easy the management of the academic community?s work, increase the competitive advantage of the graduates, and be able to improve the quality of a study program at a college.

Abstract

Large companies which are experiencing barriers in innovation often take a radical step to acquire knowledge, namely acquisition. Though innovation is not the only reason, acquisition will result in the company wishes to achieve competitive advantage affected by the creation of ideas, creativity and innovation. The three points can be achieved more easily when the knowledge sharing within the organization / company runs well. However, the acquisition maybe impacts as a counter-attack for the knowledge sharing culture both in the acquisitor and and company which obtains the acquisition. Therefore, a key to succeed the acquisition is a sharing culture among individuals within a company that runs well or even better. Individuals from the acquisitor and those of the company that obtains the acquisition can adapt to each other and have confidence in order not to hinder them to share knowledge. This study discusses in detail the potential impacts of an acquisition upon a knowledge sharing culture in a company.

Abstract

Investment is very popular nowadays to gain profits of the available property. Many investment portfolios are available but there are still a handful of users who have not been able to determine the best type of investment. Surely it would be very unfortunate if the property can not be well invested. Therefore, it is necessary to propose another alternative method that can determine the existing investment portfolio. This method begins by a process which details existing factors in every investment portfolio. Then, it takes intuition properly to give weight to the initial calculation. After that, it takes a Fuzzy concept as a tool to provide a numerical weight to each of the parameters. The final step is weighting process using Dempster Shafer method. With the use of three basic concepts, investors are expected to obtain objective and optimal computing results related to the profitable investment portfolio selection.

Abstract

The use of information technology has been very widely in many fields including industry. Along with that, the need for a concept and mechanism of IT-based learning becomes inevitable. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the training process and identify any related problems occurred at PT.Suzuki Indomobil Motor. The problems are about the limited training time, lack of material distribution media and consultations out of training time. E-Learning is a concept of electronic application use to support learning using the internet and computer network. This concept influences the process of conventional education transformation to digital form, both in content and system. The learning system will be replaced with a web-based training media. The method used is the Object Oriented Analysis Design, which begins with a depiction of rich pictures to the Deployment diagram. This system is expected to meet the needs of employees while joining the training process, so that they will obtain excellent learning and achieve the company objectives.

Abstract

PT. Sinar Jaya Sukses Mandiri (PT. SJSM) is a company engaged in telecommunications. In carrying out its business activities, PT. SJSM has not maximized the utilized the information system (IS) and information technology (IT). This research aims to produce strategic information systems planning and technology at PT. SJSM that will support the business strategy. The research uses is the data collection method by doing bibliography study, observation and interviews, and analysis and planning method by conducting an analysis of internal and external environment of business and company IS/IT using value chain analysis, SWOT, CSF, Porter?s five forces, and PEST. This research produces a recommendation of strategic planning and information technology systems of PT. SJSM including IS/IT management strategy, IS business strategy and IT strategy. The conclusions of this research is that information system and information technology strategies are needed to support the achievement of the vision, mission and corporate objectives, and are expected to increase the company competitiveness.

Abstract

To increase sales, the management and sales department requires accurate, relevant and up-to-date information to support its function. Currently the amount of outstanding accounts receivables becomes one of the obstacles. So, credit limits criteria are applied as one of the effort to emphasis the outstanding receivables. Surely it will have an impact on increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of operations and ultimately will enhance the competitiveness. This research was done in three stages, data collection, analyzing the system requirements of current system to synergy with company?s target, and the results of needs analysis are developed into a new accounting information system with object-oriented approach and UML diagrams.
