In this paper short term load forecasting (STLF) is done with using multiple linear regression (MLR). A day ahead load forecasting is obtained in this paper. Regression coefficients were found out with the help of method of least square estimation. Load in electrical power system is dependent on temperature, due point and seasons and also load has correlation to the previous load consumption (Historical data). So the input variables are temperature, due point, load of prior day, hours, and load of prior week. To validate the model or check the accuracy of the model mean absolute percentage error is used and R squared is checked which is shown in result section. Using day ahead forecasted data weekly forecast is also obtained.

This study presents a probabilistic multi-objective optimization approach to obtain the optimal locations and sizes of static var compensator (SVC) and thyristor-controlled series capacitor (TCSC) in a power transmission network with large level of wind generation. In this study, the uncertainties of the wind power generation and correlated load demand are considered. The uncertainties are modeled in this work using the points estimation method (PEM). The optimization problem is solved using the Multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithm to find the best position and rating of the flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) devices. The objective of the problem is to maximize the system loadability while minimizing the power losses and FACTS devices installation cost. Additionally, a technique based on fuzzy decision-making approach is employed to extract one of the Pareto optimal solutions as the best compromise one. The proposed approach is applied on the modified IEEE 30-bus system. The numerical results evince the effectiveness of the proposed approach and shows the economic benefits that can be achieved when considering the FACTS controller.

A compact design of ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with dual band-notched characteristics based on split-ring resonators (SRR) are investigated in this paper. The wider impedance bandwidth (from 2.73 to 11.34 GHz) is obtained by using two symmetrical slits in the radiating patch and another slit in the partial ground plane. The dual band-notch rejection at WLAN and X-band downlink satellite communication system are obtained by inserting a modified U-strip on the radiating patch at 5.5 GHz and embedding a pair of rectangular SRRs on both sides of the microstrip feed line at 7.5 GHz, respectively. The proposed antenna is simulated and tested using CST MWS high frequency simulator and exhibits the advantages of compact size, simple design and each notched frequency band can be controlled independently by using the SRR geometrical parameters. Therefore, the parametric study is carried out to understand the mutual coupling between the dual band-notched elements. To validate simulation results of our design, a prototype is fabricated and good agreement is achieved between measurement and simulation. Furthermore, a radiation patterns, satisfactory gain, current distribution and VSWR result at the notched frequencies make the proposed antenna a suitable candidate for practical UWB applications.

A new radar system for digital signal processing before detection is proposed. These are the guidelines for selecting an intermediate frequency for signal processing. The features of signal processing in the case of echo-signal selection by the features of the correlation properties of their complex bypass are described. This paper presents the study of ambiguity function (AF) when processing complex radar signals. In this work, the AF synthesis was performed considering non-determined components and the presence of phase-frequency instability. The received result enhances the potentials for distinguishing an incoherent radar signal. The numerical simulation results of received AF are presented. Considering fluctuation components in the complex AF, depending on the laws of the distribution of amplitude and frequency fluctuations and their parameters, allowed to get the gain in the width of the main lobe from the units to tens of times. Paper represents original analytical expressions for AF of radio-signals modulated by narrow band random processes with various distribution laws.

Security is the rising concern of the wireless network as there are various forms of reonfigurable network that is arised from it. Wireless sensor network (WSN) is one such example that is found to be an integral part of cyber-physical system in upcoming times. After reviewing the existing system, it can be seen that there are less dominant and robust solutions towards mitigating the threats of upcoming applications of WSN. Therefore, this paper introduces a simple and cost-effective modelling of a security system that offers security by ensuring secure selection of clusterhead during the data aggregation process in WSN. The proposed system also makes construct a rule-set in order to learn the nature of the communication iin order to have a discrete knowledge about the intensity of adversaries. With an aid of simulation-based approach over MEMSIC nodes, the proposed system was proven to offer reduced energy consumption with good data delivery performance in contrast to existing approach.

Closed-loop routing in flying ad hoc networks (FANET) arises as a result of the quick changes of communication links and topology. As such, causing link breakage during information dissemination. This paper proposed a destination path flow model to improve the communication link in FANET. The models utilized Smell Agent Optimization and Particle Swarm Optimization algorithms in managing link establishment between communicating nodes. The modeled scenario depicts the practical application of FANET in media and sports coverage where only one vendor is given the license for live coverage and must relay to other vendors. Three different scenarios using both optimization Algorithms were presented. From the result obtained, the SAO optimizes the bandwidth costs much better than PSO with a percentage improvement of 10.46%, 4.04% and 3.66% with respect to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd scenarios respectively. In the case of communication delay between the FANET nodes, the PSO has a much better communication delay over SAO with percentage improvement of 40.89%, 50.26% and 68.85% in the first, second and third scenarios respectively.

In this paper, three-phase, four-wire shunt active power filter (SAPF) is utilized to mitigate system harmonics of distorted voltage source for unbalanced and nonlinear loads. Basically, the source voltage should be pure sinusoidal waveform to get a good mitigation of source current harmonics. In this under study system, the source voltage is assumed to be harmonic distortion non-sinusoidal voltage source. The phase locked loop (PLL) control circuit is wielded for extracting the fundamental component of the distorted source voltage to use it as an input signal to the SAPF control. Another input signal to the SAPF is the distorted load current. The SAPF control system uses (p-q) theory to calculate the optimum instantaneous current to be injected by the SAPF to mitigate the source current harmonics even the source voltage is harmonic distorted. MATLAB/SIMULINK software package is utilized to simulate the system under study. The effect of SAPF is tested when it’s used with and without the PLL control circuit. The simulation results show that, the THD of source current when using the PLL control circuit is improved to comply with the harmonic limits given in the IEEE 519-1992 and IEC 61000-4-7 standards.

Indoor air quality as always is the centre of attention for researchers, architect developers and public health officials. As every-one know. The human exposure to a variety of indoor pollutants and the high cost of energy are the motivation for these kinds of studies. Fungus and mould growth has always been a problem in subtropical climate areas due to the high temperature and high humidity. Generally in institutional buildings, most of the internal heat load is generated by human body and thermal comfort is achieved with extensive usage of recycled air and air conditioning. The main considerations in any air conditioning system economisers are based on the usage of recycled air and air ventilation. The current practice in an institutional building cooling system under subtropical climate is to curb the mould issue by overcooling large recirculation airflow to remove the moisture content from the air, which is considered as an expensive practice. The use of a solar desiccant cooling system to reduce moisture from the air and to improve indoor air quality is found to be economical, environmental friendly and readily achievable in the tropics. This technology is the future alternative to the conventional vapour compression cooling system to maintain human thermal comfort conditions and enhance indoor air quality. Solar desiccant cooling systems are also environmentally friendly and energy efficient. This paper presents review on a solar desiccant cooling system and its effect on indoor air quality. It first introduces the issue of air moisture, mould growth and indoor air quality and then the development and application of thermally activated desiccant cooling technologies.
