Abstract

This paper presents an evolutionary based technique for solving the multi-objective based economic environmental dispatch by considering the stochastic behavior of renewable energy resources (RERs). The power system considered in this paper consists of wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) generators along with conventional thermal energy generators. The RERs are environmentally friendlier, but their intermittent nature affects the system operation. Therefore, the system operator should be aware of these operating conditions and schedule the power output from these resources accordingly. In this paper, the proposed EED problem is solved by considering the nonlinear characteristics of thermal generators, such as ramp rate, valve point loading (VPL), and prohibited operating zones (POZs) effects. The stochastic nature of RERs is handled by the probability distribution analysis. The aim of proposed optimization problem is to minimize operating cost and emission levels by satisfying various operational constraints. In this paper, the single objective optimization problems are solved by using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, and the multi-objective optimization problem is solved by using the multi-objective PSO algorithm. The feasibility of proposed approach is demonstrated on six generator power system.

Abstract

Achieving high throughput is the most important goal of cognitive radio networks. The main process in cognitive radio is spectrum sensing that targets getting vacant channels. There are many sensing methods like matched filter, feature detection, interference temperature and energy detection which is employed in the proposed system; however, energy detection suffers from noise uncertainty. In this paper a study of throughput under noise fluctuation effect is introduced. The work in this paper proposes multi-channel system; the overall multi-channel throughput is studied under noise fluctuation effect. In addition, the proficiency of the network has been examined under different number of channels and sensing time with noise uncertainty.

Abstract

This paper deals with the important problem that there is no help with the accessibility evaluations of Thailand’s web by developing and evaluating a new method and tool online, WebThai2Access, with experts, developers, and users with disabilities. This tool was evaluated by 30 developers, 30 hearing impaired people, 30 visually impaired people, and 30 elderly people. The developers evaluated the websites whereas experimental tasks were given to each disabled group based on the problems they had accessing web information. The developers found WebThai2Access very usable and the 15 test criteria were reliable for evaluating websites. The lower and upper 95% limits for confidence ratings of developers were minus or plus 10% for YouTube and Pantip websites and minus or plus 3% with the blind association website. The 95% lower and upper limits of confidence were minus or plus 5% for hearing impaired users, minus or plus 2% for elderly users and minus or plus 0% for visually impaired users. The results therefore showed WebThai2Access was reliable and accessible for developers whose evaluations reasonably well predicted website accessibility for users with disabilities.

Abstract

In this study, the problem of optimal capacitor location and size determination (OCLSD) in radial distribution networks for reducing losses is unraveled by moth swarm algorithm (MSA). MSA is one of the most powerful meta-heuristic algorithm that is taken from the inspiration of the food source finding behavior of moths. Four study cases of installing different numbers of capacitors in the 15-bus radial distribution test system including two, three, four and five capacitors areemployed to run the applied MSA for an investigation of behavior and assessment of performances. Power loss and the improvement of voltage profile obtained by MSA are compared with those fromother methods. As a result, it can be concluded that MSA can give a good truthful and effective solution method for OCLSD problem.

Abstract

The Gaussian minimum shift keying (GMSK) is one of the best suited digital modulation schemes in the global system for mobile communication (GSM) because of its constant envelop and spectral efficiency characteristics. Most of the conventional GMSK approaches failed to balance the digital modulation with efficient usage of spectrum. In this article, the hardware architecture of the optimized CORDIC-based GMSK system is designed, which includes GMSK Modulation with the channel and GMSK Demodulation. The modulation consists of non-return zero (NRZ) encoder, an integrator followed by Gaussian filtering and frequency modulation (FM). The GMSK demodulation consists of FM demodulator, followed by differentiation and NRZ decoder. The FM Modulation and demodulation use the optimized CORDIC model for an In-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) phase generation. The optimized CORDIC is designed by using quadrant mapping and pipelined structure to improve the hardware and computational complexity in GMSK systems. The GMSK system is designed on the Xilinx platform and implemented on Artix-7 and Spartan-3EFPGA. The hardware constraints like area, power, and timing utilization are summarized. The comparison of the optimized CORDIC model with similar CORDIC approaches is tabulated with improvements.

Abstract

Adequate network design, planning, and improvement are pertinent in a campus network as the use of smart devices is escalating. Underinvesting and overinvesting in campus network devices lead to low network performance and low resource utilization respectively. Due to this fact, it becomes very necessary to ascertain if the current network capacity satisfies the available bandwidth requirement. The bandwidth demand varies from different times and periods as the number of connected devices is on the increase. Thus, emphasizing the need for adequate bandwidth forecast. This paper presents a Monte Carlo simulation model that forecast user bandwidth utilization in a campus network. This helps in planning campus network design and upgrade to deliver available content in a period of high and normal traffic load.

Abstract

In this research paper, we introduced yellow-green MgCeAl11O19:Tb3+ asa new phosphor ingredient to adapt to the quality requirements onthe chromatic homogeneity and emitted luminous flux of modern multi-chip white LED lights (MCW-LEDs). The results from experiments and simulation show that employing MgCeAl11O19:Tb3+ phosphor can lead to much better optical properties and therefore is a perfect supporting material to achieve the goals of the research. When the MgCeAl11O19:Tb3+ phosphor is added into the phosphorus composite which already contains YAG: Ce3+ particles, and the silicone glue, it affects the optical properties significantly. In other words, the concentration of this phosphor can determine the efficiency of lumen output and chromatic homogeneity of WLEDs. In specific, as the concentration of MgCeAl11O19:Tb3+ go up, the luminous yield will increase accordingly, though there is an insignificant decrease in CQS. Moreover, if the MgCeAl11O19:Tb3+ concentration reduce a little bit, it is possible to better the correlated color temperature uniformity and lumen efficacy of LED packages. In addition, the Mie scattering theory, Monte Carlo simulation and LightTools 8.3.2 software are employed to analyze and simulate the LED packages’ structure as well as the phosphor compound.

Abstract

Various encoding schemes have been introduced till date focusing on an effective image transmission scheme in presence of error-prone artifacts in wireless communication channel. Review of existing schemes of channel encoding systems infer that they are mostly inclined on compression scheme and less over problems of superior retention of signal retention as they lacks an essential consideration of network states. Therefore, the proposed manuscript introduces a cost effective lossless encoding scheme which ensures resilient transmission of different forms of images. Adopting an analytical research methodology, the modeling has been carried out to ensure that a novel series of encoding operation be performed over an image followed by an effective indexing mechanism. The study outcome confirms that proposed system outshines existing encoding schemes in every respect.

Abstract

Abnormal level of stress is the root indicator factor to have significant impact over the health of heart and there is a close relationship between the stress levels with heart rate. Review of the existing literature showcase that there has been various work that has been carried out towards investigation of considering heart rate with an internet-of-things (IoT) system. Apart from this, existing system doesnt offer any instantaneous solution where certain intimation is offered in real-time to the user with wearables as a solution to control the stress condition. Therefore, the current paper introduces a novel framework where the sampled heart rates of the patients are captured by IoT deivices. The aggregated data are further forwarded to the cloud analytic system that uses correlation to extract the appropriate message. The system after being applied with teh machine learning approach could further extract the elite outcome followed by forwarding the contextual data to teh user. Using an analytical modelliig, the proposed system shows that it offers better accuracy and reduced processing time when compared with other machine learning approach and thereby it proves to be cost effective solution in IoT system over medical case study.

Abstract

Digital video magnification is a computer-based microscope, which is useful to detect subtle changes to human eyes in recorded videos. This technology can be employed in several areas such as medical, biological, mechanical and physical applications. Eulerian is the most popular approach in video magnification. However, amplifying the subtle changes in video produces amplifying the subtle noise. This paper proposes an approach to reduce amplified noise in magnified video for both type of changes amplifications, color and motion. The proposed approach processes the resulted video from Eulerian algorithm whether linear or phase based in order to noise cancellation. The approach utilizes wavelet denoising method to localize the frequencies of distributed noise over the different frequency bands. Subsequently, the energy of the coefficients under localized frequencies are attenuated by attenuating the amplitude of these coefficients. The experimental results of the proposed approach show its superiority over conventional linear and phase based Eulerian video magnification approaches in terms of quality of the resulted magnified videos. This allows to amplify the videos by larger amplification factor, so that several new applications can be added to the list of Eulerian video magnification users. Furthermore, the processing time does not significantly increase, the increment is only less than 3% of the overall processing compare to conventional Eulerian video magnification.
