Abstract

In electric power system, the vital topic to be mooted is economic load dispatch (ELD). It is a non-linear problem with some unavoidable constraints such as valve point loading and ramp rate constraint. For solving ELD problem distint methods were devised and tried for different electric supply systems yielding slow convergence rates. To achieve fast convergence, dual objective multi constraint swarm optimization based advanced economic load dispatch (DOMSOBAELD) algorithm is proposed making use of simulated values of real power outages of a thermal power plant as initial estimates for PSO technique embedded in it and used for optimizing economic dispatch problem in this article. DOMSOBAELD method was developed in the form of amalgamating fluids. Presence of power line losses, multiple valves in steam turbines, droop constraints and inhibited zones were utilized to optimize the ELD problem as genuinely approximate as possible. The results obtained from DOSOBAELD are compared with particle swarm optimization (PSO), PSOIW and differential particle swarm optimization (DPSO) techniques. It is quite conspicuous that DOMSOBAELD yielded minimum cost values with most favourable values of real unit outputs. Thus the proposed method proves to be advantageous over other heuristic methods and yields best solution for ELD by selecting incremental fuel cost as the decision variable and cost function as fitness function.

Abstract

Algal blooms data are collected and refined as experimental data for algal blooms prediction. Refined algal blooms dataset is analyzed by logistic regression analysis, and statistical tests and regularization are performed to find the marine environmental factors affecting algal blooms. The predicted value of algal bloom is obtained through logistic regression analysis using marine environment factors affecting algal blooms. The actual values and the predicted values of algal blooms dataset are applied to the confusion matrix. By improving the decision boundary of the existing logistic regression, and accuracy, sensitivity and precision for algal blooms prediction are improved. In this paper, the algal blooms prediction model is established by the ensemble method using logistic regression and confusion matrix. Algal blooms prediction is improved, and this is verified through big data analysis.

Abstract

There is enormous amount information available in different forms of sources and genres. In order to extract useful information from a massive amount of data, automatic mechanism is required. The text summarization systems assist with content reduction keeping the important information and filtering the non-important parts of the text. Good document representation is really important in text summarization to get relevant information. Bag-of-words cannot give word similarity on syntactic and semantic relationship. Word embedding can give good document representation to capture and encode the semantic relation between words. Therefore, centroid based on word embedding representation is employed in this paper. Myanmar news summarization based on different word embedding is proposed. In this paper, Myanmar local and international news are summarized using centroid-based word embedding summarizer using the effectiveness of word representation approach, word embedding. Experiments were done on Myanmar local and international news dataset using different word embedding models and the results are compared with performance of bag-of-words summarization. Centroid summarization using word embedding performs comprehensively better than centroid summarization using bag-of-words.

Abstract

This paper describes a MPPT control of the stator powers of a DFIG operating within a wind energy system using the backstepping control technique. The objective of this work consists of providing a robust control to the rotor-side converter allowing the stator active power to be regulated at the maximum power extracted from the wind turbine, as well as maintaining the stator reactive power at zero to maintain the power factor at unity, under various conditions. We have used the Matlab/Simulink platform to model the wind system based on a 7.5 kW DFIG and to implement the MPPT control algorithm in a first step, then we have implemented the field-oriented control and the backstepping controller in a second step. The simulation results obtained were very satisfactory with a fast transient response and neglected power ripples. They furthermore confirmed the high robustness of the approach used in dealing with the variation of the internal parameters of the machine.

Abstract

Big data is a large set of structured or unstructured data that can collect, store, manage, and analyze data with existing database management tools. And it means the technique of extracting value from these data and interpreting the results. Big data has three characteristics: The size of existing data and other data (volume), the speed of data generation (velocity), and the variety of information forms (variety). The time series data are obtained by collecting and recording the data generated in accordance with the flow of time. If the analysis of these time series data, found the characteristics of the data implies that feature helps to understand and analyze time series data. The concept of distance is the simplest and the most obvious in dealing with the similarities between objects. The commonly used and widely known method for measuring distance is the Euclidean distance. This study is the result of analyzing the similarity of stock price flow using 793,800 closing prices of 1,323 companies in Korea. Visual studio and Excel presented calculate the Euclidean distance using an analysis tool. We selected “000100” as a target domestic company and prepared for big data analysis. As a result of the analysis, the shortest Euclidean distance is the code “143860” company, and the calculated value is “11.147”. Therefore, based on the results of the analysis, the limitations of the study and theoretical implications are suggested.

Abstract

This paper proposes a hybrid power system design for water pumping system in Dubai (Latitude 25.25 °N and Longitude 55 °E), United Arab Emirates using solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, wind turbines, and diesel generator. The proposed design considers the changes in weather conditions (humidity percentage, temperature in celsius, and wind speed in m/s) that directly affect solar irradiance values which alter the performance of the hybrid system. The proposed design deals with the problem of rare rainy days in Dubai between December and March and the high temperature throughout the year since that makes providing water to rural and isolated zones essential. The proposed system uses voltage regulator to maintain stable DC voltage from the solar power system, battery bank to store the voltage from solar PV panels, three-phase rectifier to convert the AC voltage from wind power system to DC, three-phase step-down transformers to reduce the AC voltage of the wind turbine and diesel generator, and DC electric motor for water pumping output. The system used neural network for solar irradiance forecasting over an interval of 10 years (from 2009 to 2019). The proposed system will be demonstrated using Simulink to show the stability and performance under different weather conditions.

Abstract

Misbehavior detection in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) is performed to improve the traffic safety and driving accuracy. All the nodes in the VANETs communicate to each other through message logs. Malicious nodes in the VANETs can cause inevitable situation by sending message logs with tampered values. In this work, various machine learning algorithms are used to detect the primarily five types of attacks namely, constant attack, constant offset attack, random attack, random offset attack, and eventual attack. Firstly, each attack is detected by different machine learning algorithms using binary classification. Then, the new procedure is created to do the multi classification of the attacks on best chosen algorithm from different machine learning techniques. The highest accuracy in case of binary classification is obtained with Naïve Bayes (100%), decision tree (100%), and random forest (100%) in type1 attack, decision tree (100%) in type2 attack, and random forest (98.03%, 95.56%, and 95.55%) in Type4, Type8 and Type16 attack respectively. In case of new procedure for multi-classification, the highest accuracy is obtained with random forest (97.62%) technique. For this work, VeReMi dataset (a public repository for the malicious node detection in VANETs) is used.

Abstract

The present paper deals with a variant of hub location problems (HLP): the uncapacitated single allocation p-Hub median problem (USApHMP). This problem consists to jointly locate hub facilities and to allocate demand nodes to these selected facilities. The objective function is to minimize the routing of demands between any origin and destination pair of nodes. This problem is known to be NP-hard. Based on the artificial immune systems (AIS) framework, this paper develops a new approach to efficiently solve the USApHMP. The proposed approach is in the form of a clonal selection algorithm (CSA) that uses appropriate encoding schemes of solutions and maintains their feasibility. Comprehensive experiments and comparison of the proposed approach with other existing heuristics are conducted on benchmark from civil aeronautics board, Australian post, PlanetLab and Urand data sets. The results obtained allow to demonstrate the validity and the effectiveness of our approach. In terms of solution quality, the results obtained outperform the best-known solutions in the literature.

Abstract

Dynamic time warping (DTW) is one of the well-known algorithms for measuring similarity between two temporal sequences, and it can be used for character matching. It uses a distance of two character strings. However, since the characters are non-numeric, it must be assigned to numerical values to calculate a distance between two character strings. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a method to convert non-numeric characters into numerical values in dynamic time warping for string matching. The proposed method uses normalized correlation coefficient, and it makes DTW gives more accurate results. Experimental results show that the proposed method gives excellent results.

Abstract

Smartphones have evolved to become frequent companions to humans. The common problem shared by Android users of smartphones was, and continues to be, about saving their batteries and preventing the need to use any recharging tools. A significant number of studies have been performed in the general field of "saving energy in smartphones". During a state of global lockdown, the use of smartphone devices has skyrocketed, and many governments have implemented location-tracking applications for their citizens as means of ensuring that the imposed governmental restrictions are being adhered to. Since smartphones are battery-powered, the opportunity to conserve electricity and ensure that the handset does not have to be charged so much or that it does not die and impede location-tracking during this period of crisis is of vital significance, impacting not only the reliability of tracking, but also the usability of the mobile itself. While there are methods to reduce the battery’s drain from mobile app use, they are not fully utilized by users. Simultaneously, the following the manuscript demonstrates the growing prevalence of mobile applications in daily lives, as well as the disproportionally increasing phone functionality, which results in the creation of a dependency towards smartphone use and the need of energy to recharge and operate theses smartphones.
