Abstract

The wide range of step-up and step-down input-output voltage characteristic of the Cuk converter makes it a good candidate to interface photovoltaic arrays in both classical and distributed maximum power point tracking systems. Because its two inductor structure, Cuk converters have continuous input and output currents, which reduce the additional filtering elements usually required for interfacing dc/dc converter topologies. However, PV systems based on Cuk converters usually do not provide formal proofs of global stability under realistic conditions, which makes impossible to ensure a safe operation of the PV installation. Therefore, this paper proposes a high performance sliding-mode controller for PV systems based on Cuk converters, which regulates the PV voltage in agreement with the commands imposed by a MPPT algorithm, rejecting both load and environmental perturbations, and ensuring global stability for real operation conditions. Finally, the performance of the regulated PV system is tested using both simulations and experiments.

Abstract

This paper presents on the implementation of spellchecker and corrector system in mobile phone devices, such as a smartphone for the low-resourced Tigrigna language. Designing and developing a spell checking for Tigrigna language is a challenging task. Tigrigna script has more than 32 base letters with seven vowels each. Every first letter has six suffixes. Word formation in Tigrigna depends mainly on root-and-pattern morphology and exhibits prefixes, suffixes, and infixes. A few project have been done on Tigrigna spellchecker on desktop application and the nature of Ethiopic characters. However, in this work we have proposed a systems modeling for Tigrigna language spellchecker, detecting and correction: a corpus of 430,379 Tigrigna words has been used. To indication the validity of the spellchecker and corrector model and algorithm designed, a prototype is developed. The experiment is tested and accuracy of the prototype for Tigrigna spellchecker and correction system for mobile phone devices achieved 92%. This experiment result shows clearly that the system model is efficient in spellchecking and correcting relevant suggested correct words and reduces the misspelled input words for writing Tigrigna words on mobile phone devices.

Abstract

In this paper, a series-fed milimeter-wave microstrip patch antenna array operating at 28 GHz is presented for wearable radio-frequency (RF) energy harvesting applications. The antenna array is made of 4×4 rectangular microstrip elements on a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate to provide conformability when directly attached on human body parts. A 4-way Wilkinson power divider is connected to the array for RF power combining. The overall size of the antenna is 47×28×0.25 mm. The half-power beamwidth (HPBW) of the antenna array can be increased up to 151.9⁰ via structural deformation making it suitable for energy harvesting applications. The performance of the antenna array is investigated in terms of impedance matching, gain and radiation pattern. The average simulated specific absorption rate (SAR) of the antenna is 0.52 W/kg which is well below the safety limit of 1.6 W/kg averaged over 1 g of tissue for 100 mW of input power.

Abstract

Designing female character in video game has been criticized as being sexually objectified and underrepresented in quantity (number of characters and their appearance rate in the game) and in quality (take only secondary role and inferior ability statistics given). In this paper, we analyze world leading multiple-user online battle arena game league of legends to see if previously criticized gender inequality of champions still stands and conduct a survey of 1,403 players of that game and asks how they feel about serious gender disproportion of utility support champions (all females). The result shows that league of legends still has serious gender disparity in performance parameters and there has been only a small change in 5-year span (2014-2019). The survey result tells us that game players also feel political incorrectness of such gender disproportion, but they accept such gender prototype because they have been taught as such as social role theory explains gender inequality issues.

Abstract

Because of the increasing penetration of intermittent green energy resources like offshore wind farms, solar photovoltaic, the multi-terminal DC grid using VSC technology is considered a promising solution for interconnecting these future energies. To improve the stability of the multi-terminal direct current (MTDC) network, DC voltage control strategies based on voltage margin and voltage droop technique have been developed and investigated in this article. These two control strategies are implemented in the proposed model, a ±400 kV meshed multi-terminal MTDC network based on VSC technology with four terminals during the outage converter. The simulation results include the comparison and analysis of both techniques under the outage converter equipped with constant DC voltage control, then the outage converter equipped with constant active power control. The simulation results confirm that the DC voltage droop technique has a better dynamic performance of power sharing and DC voltage regulation.

Abstract

The application of disinfection is becoming popular in recent months due to the COVID-19. Usually, the disinfection is used by spraying the liquid into an object. However, the disinfection process for humans and objects in the human environment is still done manually and takes time and increases exposure to viruses. Robotic technology can be a solution to handle that problem. Following that problem, robot design is proposed with many abilities and features. The robot can operate in remote conditions and full function for approximately 56 minutes and spray the liquid for more than 1 meter. This research can effectively be applied in COVID-19 handlings.

Abstract

This paper presents direct control of active and reactive power using grid voltage modulation for single-phase grid-connected photovoltaic inverter. A design of type-1 servo system based on pole-placement method is proposed to control the power flow using a simplified multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) model of the system. Phase-locked loop (PLL) with a quarter cycle time delay is used to estimate the grid phase angle for the purpose of performing the stationary and synchronous reference frame transformation. Unipolar pulse width modulation (PWM) technique is used to control a single-phase inverter with 2.7 KVA capacity connected to the photovoltaic system. The proposed controller can simply be tuned using minimum number of controller gains to achieve the transient and steady-state performance requirements. The proposed system, was capable of operating for a wide range of solar irradiance levels with a power factor in the range of 0.95 (leading/lagging), for the reactive power compensation purposes.

Abstract

The launch of the new mobile network technology has paved the way for advanced and more productive industrial applications based on high-speed and low latency services offered by 5G. One of the key success points of the 5G network is the available diversity of cell deployment modes and the flexibility in radio resources allocation based on user’s needs. The concept of Pico cells will become the future of 5G as they increase the capacity and improve the network coverage at a low deployment cost. In addition, the short-range wireless transmission of this type of cells uses little energy and will allow dense applications for the internet of things. In this contribution, we present the advantages of using Pico cells and the characteristics of this type of cells in 5G networks. Then, we will do a simulation study of the interferences impact in uplink transmission in the case of PICO cells densified deployment. Finally, we will propose a solution for interference avoidance between pico cells that also allows flexible management of bands allocated to the users in uplink according to user’s density and bandwidth demand.

Abstract

Due to the recent pandemic of COVID-19, sports events around the world are being hit hard in 2020. However, with the KBO league having been opened even though it is late, it has attracted the attention of baseball fans around the world as it becomes an overseas broadcast. However, since the Republic of Korea is also affected by the global economic crisis, the financial burden of professional baseball teams that rely on their parent company has become a hot topic. Therefore, in this study, we collected records such as IP, ERA, and WAR of KBO league FA pitchers and news related to FA contracts. Then, we preprocessed the data and analyzed it. To this end, we analyzed the performance and financial burden indicators according to the pitcher's age and contract years. In addition, it was found that the performance of athletes was maintained until their mid 30’s, and through rational FA contracts, the team and athletes were able to suggest win-win strategies. And with this basic data analysis in the sports industry, the possibility of utilizing these strategies was confirmed.

Abstract

Currently, Korea's population is aging rapidly, and there is a lot of interest in the area of life in old age. Especially, as you get older, your ability to exercise gradually decreases, and you need to exercise continuously for your health. As a result, Korea older people exercise more than welfare powerhouse Japan. However, recently studies show that physical function lags even further. The results are based on a lack of diversity in motion. In Korea, people enjoy walking, hiking, and riding bicycles, but in Japan, there is a difference in the quality of exercise such as muscle-building exercise class, ball exercise, and underwater exercise. The old Korean ways of exercising are all high-intensity sports, but some do not know whether the purpose is for social club purposes. In this paper, real-time joint tracking using a single camera and deep learning was carried out to study the development direction of content that can measure or improve exercise ability to improve actual muscle strength.
