Recently, mobile devices are becoming the primary platforms for every user who always roam around and access the cloud computing applications. Mobile cloud computing (MCC) combines the both mobile and cloud computing, which provides optimal services to the mobile users. In next-generation mobile environments, mainly due to the huge number of mobile users in conjunction with the small cell size and their portable information‟s, the influence of mobility on the network performance is strengthened. In this paper, we propose an energy efficient mobility management in mobile cloud computing (E2M2MC2) system for 5G heterogeneous networks. The proposed E2M2MC2 system use elective repeat multi-objective optimization (ERMO2) algorithm to determine the best clouds based on the selection metrics are delay, jitter, bit error rate (BER), packet loss, communication cost, response time, and network load. ERMO2 algorithm provides energy efficient management of user mobility as well as network resources. The simulation results shows that the proposed E2M2MC2 system helps in minimizing delay, packet loss rate and energy consumption in a heterogeneous network.

The wind energy plays an important role in power system because of its renewable, clean and free energy. However, the penetration of wind power (WP) into the power grid system (PGS) requires an efficient energy storage systems (ESS). compressed air energy storage (CAES) system is one of the most ESS technologies which can alleviate the intermittent nature of the renewable energy sources (RES). Nyala city power plant in Sudan has been chosen as a case study because the power supply by the existing power plant is expensive due to high costs for fuel transport and the reliability of power supply is low due to uncertain fuel provision. This paper presents a formulation of security-constrained unit commitment (SCUC) of diesel power plant (DPP) with the integration of CAES and PW. The optimization problem is modeled and coded in MATLAB which solved with solver GORUBI 8.0. The results show that the proposed model is suitable for integration of renewable energy sources (RES) into PGS with ESS and helpful in power system operation management.

Fire detection systems are designed to discover fires and allow the safe evacuation of occupants as well as protecting the safety of emergency response personnel. This paper describes the design and development of a fire detection and alert system. Temperature and flame sensors are used to indicate the occurrence of fire. This work consists of two parts, which are transmitter and receiver, both using ZigBee wireless technology. Arduino Uno is used as the microcontroller at the transmitter part to control the sensor nodes and give alert when over temperature and flame are detected. At the transmitter, the collected data from the sensors are transmitted by an XBee module operated as router node. At the receiver side, an XBee coordinator module which is attached to a computer using USB to serial communication captured the data for further processing. In addition, an interactive and user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI) is developed. LabVIEW software is used to design the GUI which displays and analyze the possibility of fire happening. The system can display the fire location and provides early warning to allow occupants to escape the building safely.

In this paper, the development of two novel circularly polarized microstrip antennas is thoroughly explained. These antennas are fed by coaxial feeding technique. One of the primary objectives of the proposed work is to tune the antennas to work in ISM band. This frequency band refers to the internationally recognized radio frequency bandwidth which is to be used explicitly for Industrial, Scientific, and Medical applications. Therefore, these antennas would be suitable to use in the field of wireless biotelemetry. Two new antenna design techniques have been introduced to produce circular polarization, and details of these schemes are described. The proposed microstrip antennas are designed and simulated on Advanced Design System (ADS) software. The return loss of the proposed crescent-cut antenna is -19.3 dB at the operating frequency. The extended corner antenna has the return loss of -29.3 dB at the tuned frequency. The simulation results are also presented and discussed.

Driving cycle plays a vital role in the production and evaluating the performance of the vehicle. Driving cycle is a representative speed-time profile of driving behavior of specific region or city. Many countries has developed their own driving cycle such as United State of America, United Kingdom, India, China, Ireland, Slovenia, Singapore, and many more. The objectives of this paper are to characterize and develop driving cycle of Kuala Terengganu city at 8.00 a.m. along five different routes using k-means method, to analyze fuel rate and emissions using the driving cycle developed and to compare the fuel rate and emissions with conventional engine vehicles, parallel plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, series plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and single split-mode plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. The methodology involves three major steps which are route selection, data collection using on-road measurement method and driving cycle development using k-means method. Matrix Laboratory software (MATLAB) has been used as the computer program platform in order to produce the best driving cycle and Vehicle System Simulation Tool Development (AUTONOMIE) software has been used to analyze fuel rate and gas emission. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that, Route C and single spilt-mode PHEV powertrain used and emit least amount of fuel and emissions.

This research presents a way to avoid network congestion during unicast CoAP-based group communication using increased delays between consecutive requests (DCR) in LoWPAN border routers to limit request send rates. It also provides a way to determine DCR values that are suitable for various network group sizes with differing node counts. The optimal DCR is obtained using the least squares approximation method and the relative minimum. Results from experimentation shows a positive relation, that is, an increase in group size necessitates an increase in DCR value. Experiments in various group sizes show favorable network performance and support the proposed congestion control method using DCR.

In this paper, the problem of the blind separation of complex-valued Satellite-AIS data for marine surveillance is addressed. Due to the specific properties of the sources under consideration: they are cyclo-stationary signals with two close cyclic frequencies, we opt for spatial quadratic time-frequency domain methods. The use of an additional diversity, the time delay, is aimed at making it possible to undo the mixing of signals at the multi-sensor receiver. The suggested method involves three main stages. First, the spatial generalized mean Ambiguity function of the observations across the array is constructed. Second, in the Ambiguity plane, Delay-Doppler regions of high magnitude are determined and Delay-Doppler points of peaky values are selected. Third, the mixing matrix is estimated from these Delay-Doppler regions using our proposed non-unitary joint zero-(block) diagonalization algorithms as to perform separation.

In 2016, a crime rate has been evidently increasing particularly in Kuala Lumpur areas, including reports on house break-ins, car thefts, motorcycle thefts and robbery. One way of deterring such cases is by installing CCTV monitoring system in premises such as houses or shops, but this usually requires expensive equipment and installation fees. In this paper a cheaper alternative of a portable community video surveillance system running on Raspberry Pi 3 utilizing OpenCV is presented. The system will detect motion based on image subtraction algorithm and immediately inform users when intruders are detected by sending a live video feed to a Telegram group chat, as well as sound the buzzer alarm on the Raspberry Pi. Additionally, any Telegram group members can request images and recorded videos from the system at any time by sending a get request in Telegram which will be handled by Telegram Bot. This system uses the Pi NoIR camera module as the image acquisition device equipped with a 36 LED infrared illuminator for night vision capability. In addition to the Python language, OpenCV, a computer vision simulation from Intel is also used for image processing tasks. The performance analysis of the completed system is also presented computational complexity while offering improved flexibility. The performance time is also presented, where the whole process is run with a noticeable 3 seconds delay in getting the final output.

The tumultuous increase in ATM attacks using eavesdropping, shoulder-surfing, has risen great concerns. Attackers often target the authentication stage where a customer may be entering his login information on the ATM and thus use direct observation techniques by looking over the customer's shoulder to steal his passwords. Existing authentication mechanism employs the traditional password-based authentication system which fails to curb these attacks. This paper addresses this problem using the FingerEye. The FingerEye is a robust system integrated with iris-scan authentication. A customer’s profile is created at registration where the pattern in his iris is analyzed and converted into binary codes. The binary codes are then stored in the bank database and are required for verification prior to any transaction. We leverage on the iris because every user has unique eyes which do not change until death and even a blind person with iris can be authenticated too. We implemented and tested the proposed system using CIMB bank, Malaysia as case study. The FingerEye is integrated with the current infrastructure employed by the bank and as such, no extra cost was incurred. Our result demonstrates that ATM attacks become impractical. Moreover, transactions were executed faster from 6.5 seconds to 1.4 seconds.

This paper presents a Memetic Chicken swarm optimization (MeCSO) to solve job shop scheduling problem (JSSP). The aim is to find a better solution which minimizes the maximum of the completion time also called Makespan. In this paper, we adapt the chicken swarm algorithm which take into consideration the hierarchical order of chicken swarm while seeking for food. Moreover, we integrate 2-opt method to improve the movement of the rooster. The new algorithm is applied on some instances of ORLibrary. The empirical results show the forcefulness of MeCSO comparing to other metaheuristics from literature in term of run time and quality of solution.
