Abstract

The purpose of this study is developing student worksheet use flipbook maker based on creative problem solving to increase critical thinking skill of senior high school student. Subject of this research is eleven Science four of senior high school Kesatrian 2 Semarang on school year 2017/2018. The method of this study is Development Research. The step of this research is preliminary step and formative evaluation step (self evaluation (analysis and design), prototyping, and field test). Prototyping step of student worksheet tested its characteristics and validity by material expert and media expert. Field test use Pre-test and Post-test One Group Design. Analysis data method used angket data analysis, validity analysis, normality analysis, t-test and gain test. The result assessment of student worksheet validity by material expert is 86, 44% with valid criteria and assessment by media expert is 83,12% with valid criteria. The result of implementation from student worksheet use flipbook maker based on creative problem solving to critical thinking skill increased after t-test showed Sig. (2-tailed) result is 0,000 and gain testing with score 0,37 with medium criteria. The result of this research showed that student worksheet use flipbook maker based on creative problem solving is valid and can be used to increase critical thinking skill of senior high school student.

Abstract

Higher Order Thinking (HOT) is a high-level thinking ability. This study aims to analyze the problem solving reconstruction ability of high school students through the HOT assessment test. This research is included in Research and Development (R&D) with 3D models are Define, Design, and Develop. This study use classes X Science 1, X Science 2, X Science 3, X Science 4, and X Science 5 High School 8 Semarang Academic Year 2018/2019. Testing of research using One-Shot Case Study method. Retrieval of data in this study using test, documentation, and interview methods. The results of the feasibility test by experts obtained value of 87.08% which is included in very feasible category. While the response of students stated that students agreed to HOT assessment test with an average percentage of 70%. HOT assessment was developed in the form of reasoned multiple choice questions and each item contained four aspects to reconstruct problem solving abilities. Based on the results of this study, it was found that the HOT assessment developed contains a strategy for reconstructing problem solving abilities using four aspects: (1) recognizing problems of 92.1%, (2) strategy planning of 85.5%, (3) applying strategy of 73.7%, and (4) evaluating solutions of 50.1%.

Abstract

Some of Physics Science material in Junior High School are abstract so that sometimes students find difficulties in understanding them because there is no clear visualization of the material. Those things can be overcome by using a learning media. Scrapbook is a craft that contains images and a little narration which can help teachers in explaining some of the Physics Science material that requires a good visualization. This study aimed to develop scrapbook learning media and find out the effect of the learning media on students' material understanding. The method that was used in this research was Research & Development (R & D). The sample of this study were 27 students of VIIC class of SMP Negeri 1 Sigaluh using pretest-posttest and feasibility questionnaires. The data analysis techniques used t-test to see the difference between students’ learning result before and after the use of scrapbook as a media in the learning activities. Moreover, an N-gain test was also performed to calculate the amount of increase that was occured. The results of this study showed that scrapbook learning media did not only emphasize on the clear and interesting images, but also provided enough materials so that the media can be used for independent learning. The results of the feasibility test by material experts and media experts obtained an average score of 91.26% with a very feasible category. Scrapbook media was able to give an influence to the enhancement of students’ material understanding by obtaining an N-gain value of 0.54 with a medium category.

Abstract

One of the policies developed in the curriculum 2013 is to provide services to students according to their talents, interests, and learning abilities. A teacher is required to be able to provide an Independent Learning Activity Unit or Unit Kegiatan Belajar Mandiri (UKBM) for students. The goals of this research are to develop physics UKBM of work and energy based on contextual learning, to know the feasibility and readability of UKBM, and to know the improvement of student’s understanding about work and energy concepts. The used method in this research is Research and Development (R&D). The research steps consist of study of potential and problems, data collection, product design, expert validation, product revisions, small-scale trials, product revisions, and large-scale trials. One Group Pretest-posttest was used as the trials design. The subject of trials is 10th grade student of SMA Negeri 1 Kendal in 2018/2019 school year. The results of the research are the characteristics of UKBM of work and energy based on contextual learning according to the guidelines for developing UKBM and aspects of contextual learning. The core activities of the UKBM include four learning activities, which are the concept of work, the concept of the relationship of work and energy change, and the concept of the Law of Conservation of Mechanical Energy. The learning process was arranged using the Problem Based Learning model by presenting physics problems in daily life. UKBM of work and energy was declared very feasible with a percentage score of eligibility of 96%. The readability test result of 77% showed that UKBM was easy to understand. Based on the results of large-scale trials, the application of UKBM in learning can improve student's understanding of concepts with the gain of 0.49 in the middle improvement category.

Abstract

Teaching materials that are commonly used do not meet the needs and criteria of the 2013 curriculum which emphasizes character education and student activity. In addition, student motivation to learn physics is also low. In this research, I-SETS physics teaching material is supplemented with characters to increase student motivation. This type of research is Research and Development (RnD). Based on validation by media and material experts as well as one practitioner it was found that physics-based I-SETS-based physics supplemented characters scored 85.03% with a very decent category. Based on the readability test results, an average score of 64.47% is included in the easy to read category. While based on the results of student motivation questionnaires, interviews and observation sheets found that I-SETS-based physics teaching materials can increase learning motivation. The results of the student character questionnaire showed that religious character, discipline, responsibility, and care for the developing environment. Meanwhile, based on observations it shows that the religious character, discipline, responsibility, and environmental care are entrenched.

Abstract

The thinking skills taught in schools are very varied and useful for training students to be ready to dive in society. The Student Worksheet based on STEM is expected to be used as a medium to train students' critical thinking skills. The primary purpose of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of Student Worksheets Based on STEM as a tool to train students' critical thinking skills in physics learning at senior high school. Therefore, this research is focused on identifying (1) effectiveness of Student Worksheets Based on STEM as a learning tools; (2) profile of critical thinking skills of students after STEM-based LKS-based learning. This research uses a quasi-experimental method in One Group Pretest-Posttest Design form. The subjects of this research were grade XI students at SMA 1 Subah, while the object of the research was the Effectiveness of student worksheets based on STEM to Train Critical Thinking Skills. The instrument in this research is a matter of critical thinking skills with the method of data collection in the form of Pretest-Posttest. Then that data is analyzed by descriptive statistics and inferencing statistics. The conclusion of this research is the n-gain of worksheets based on STEM as a learning tool reaches 0.55 so that its effectiveness is categorized in the medium. The profile of critical thinking skills of students has increased after the STEM-based LKS-assisted learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the profile of critical thinking skills, the profile of scientific literacy, and determine the impact of critical thinking dexterity towards science literacy of junior high school student. The marking indicator of critical thinking includes argument analysis; deduction, considering deduction results; induction and considering induction result; identify terms and considering some terms. Science literacy ability includes 4 categories as follow: science as a cornerstone; science as thinking method; science as a way to investigate; also, science interaction, environment, technology and society. The method used in this study are correlational and data analysis technique using descriptive precentage and simple regression. Based on the result of simple regression analysis, critical thinking and science literacy have a significant and positive impact. The result of the analysis shows that students’ critical thinking dexterity is still lacking, their science literacy’s ability also lacking.

Abstract

Mobile Learning is a learning model that utilizes information and communication technology. This study aims to produce mobile learning applications and determine the appropriateness of Android-based mobile learning applications on the Transistor Application material that has been developed. This research was classified as research development or research and development. The development model used in this study was ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Futhermore, the application result product directly tested on 2 groups of respondents, namely expert respondents and non-expert respondents. Expert respondents were consisted of both media and material expert. Non-expert respondents were students of the Physics Department who took the Analog Electronics course in semester 2018/2019. The feasibility used in this media was based on Wahono (2006) which consists of software engineering aspects, aspects of learning design, and aspects of visual communication. From the results of the feasibility test in a whole learning media, a percentage value of 91% was obtained. Based on these results, this learning media is very well used as a learning supplement in the practice of transistor application.

Abstract

Physics learning should optimize students' activities to practice critical thinking skills. But in practice learning has not yet facilitated the students to be able to think critically. Therefore, it is necessary to develop Activity Based Learning Program (PPBA) to improve students' critical thinking skill. This type of research is Research and Development with 4-D model, the procedure includes define, design, develop and disseminate. This research used three activity-based learning models that support the training of students’ critical thinking skills, the three models are PBL, NHT, PjBL. The sample in this research is four classes of MIA X in SMA Negeri 1 Bergas. Data taken in the form of students' critical thinking skills with indicators analyzing arguments, asking and answering questions, considering whether the source can be trusted or not, inducing and considering the results of induction, making and determining the results of consideration, identifying assumptions, determining an action, interacting with others. To obtain the data, instruments were used in the form of pretest, posttest, validation sheet of lesson plan, and questionnaire. The results of the data obtained were analyzed by prerequisite test, N-gain test, and average calculation. The analysis results show that PPBA is very feasible to use with the percentage of appraisal of 85.9% and can improve students' critical thinking skill with average N-gain factor 0.65 with medium category. The biggest increase was contributed by PBL model with N-gain factor of 0.66 with medium category. PPBA got high response with score 3.2 from maximum score 4. Based on the result of analysis it can be concluded that PPBA is feasible and can improve students' critical thinking

Abstract

This research aims to know the students ' creativity and factors influencing creativity. The data used in this study that is the result of a creative product evaluation form design and interview. Data analysis techniques used to use a descriptive quantitative analysis approach. The results of data analysis it was concluded that the creativity of the students in physics are divided into three categories, namely high, medium, low details: creativity category "high" with a percentage of 70.34%, the category of "medium" has a percentage of 66.12% and category low percentage of 62.58%. The creativity of the students in physics belongs to the category of "medium" with a percentage score an average of 66.61%. Factors that influence students creativity in physics that is intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation, where the students tend to have more intrinsic motivation extrinsic motivation compared with the dominant percentage: intrinsic motivation 50.56%, extrinsic motivation 49.44%.
