Abstract

Writing a short story by learners needs to consider formative elements. Therefore, it needs appropriate and suitable learning model for their learning styles. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of writing short story learning with a quantum model based on learning styles of eleventh graders of senior high school. This pseudo-experimental research used written short story writing test, learning style test, attitude observation, photographs, and interview as techniques of collecting data. Normality test is done by using the Kolmogorov Smirnov test. Homogeneity test of the data used Levense. Hypothesis test used paired sample t-test. All of them were done by using SPSS 20 program. It is concluded that the implementation of the model is effective in learning short story writing based on the learning styles of the students. The learning by using the model is more effective for kinesthetic learning style than visual and auditory learning styles. This research is expected to contribute to developing educational field research and to enrich the knowledge of short story writing in an educational institution.

Abstract

Speech politeness should be done by all elements of society, especially candidate of governor and vice-governor. Politeness principle is indicated by obedience of politeness principle maxims. This research aims to analyze politeness principle obedience of candidate of governor and vice-governor speech in candidate talk show. This pragmatic descriptive research collected data by observation. It consisted of basic and advance observation techniques. This technique used recording technique. The extended techniques were participant observer, recording, and noting. The data was analyzed by pragmatic equivalent and normative method. Based on the research, the obedience of politeness principle maxims consisted of (1) Tact Maxim, (2) maxim of generosity, (3) maxim of approbation, (4) maxim of humility, (5) maxim of agreement, and (6) maxim of sympathy. This research is expected to contribute in developing linguistics study and enriching knowledge dealing with politeness principle obedience for governor and vice ? governor candidates.

Abstract

The story of Syeh Jangkung or Saridin in various forms and versions producing to the novelty or innovation through both spoken from mouth to mouth, kethoprak, and written stories. This study was intended to explore variations of Saridin's stories that are presented in the midst of society. The data sources were four documnet and then was processed using a qualitative narrative analysis method. The result was based on the theme, Serat Seh Jangkung and Saridin Andum Waris which has the same story idea about the story of Nomads and the journey of Seh Jangkung in several areas. The journey taken not only throughout Java, but also in Sumatra and Rome. In Saridin Mokong, the figure of Saridin's wife, is a character who represents a story that struggles to maintain the dignity and prestige of Javanese women. Then, the theme of Syeh Jangkung Andum Waris is about Saridin's patience in facing trials. Diversity is also found in the prologues, acts and scenes, characters and characterizations, settings, plots, and epilogues. Overall, Saridin's story was not only written and enjoyed by the public of readers or listeners, but also experienced copying, re-writing, and experiencing transformation. For the artists of the kethoprak it self, this stucy can be used as a reference to develop the story of Saridin in order it can always meet the demands of the community for entertaining people.

Abstract

Women are always associated with consumption contexts for reporting, especially reporting sexual violence and socioeconomic violence. The purpose of this study is to find the position of subject-objects in reporting violence against women on television and find the location of writer-reader in reporting violence against women on television. The stations studied were Metro TV and TV One. Data were collected by the method of listening, followed by using an independent, capable, record, and note-taking technique. Data analysis was performed using the matching method using the determinant element technique. Meanwhile, the approach used is a critical discourse analysis of Sara Mills model. In this study, the subject-object position was found in reporting violence against women on television. Women have always been victims of patriarchal culture. Also, the position of the writer-reader reporting on violence against women is also used as an effort to educate and raise awareness about the community related to cases of violence against women. Authentic patriarchal culture cannot be used as a basis for violence against women against men, both inside and outside the family. This is a form of discrimination against women. Also, the community needs to be fully aware of women's rights that are not fulfilled, especially in terms of security and justice before the law.

Abstract

The Tetralogy of Buru Island by Pramoedya Ananta Toer discusses various forms of psychological violence. However, various studies that the authors found have not addressed this issue. Whereas, women?s psychological violence is very important in developing literacy research that contributes to the resolution of women's problems. The purpose of this study was to analyze psychological violence in women in the Buru Island Tetralogy by Pramoedya Ananta Toer, along with psychiatric symptoms. This research uses a feminist approach to psychoanalysis. The research data are in the form of a Tetralogy of Buru Island by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. The source of research data is the Tetralogy of Buru Island by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. Data analysis was performed qualitatively with heuristic and hermeneutic reading techniques. From the results of the study found a form of psychological violence as follows: sexual violence in the form of sexual abuse experienced by Annelies, while sexual violence was experienced by Nyai Ontosoroh, Annelies, and Maiko characters; emotional abuse experienced by Nyai Ontosoroh and Paulette; economic violence experienced by Nyai Ontosoroh. Furthermore, psychiatric symptoms experienced are hysterical, traumatic, and depression.

Abstract

The students? skills of writing scientific articles are necessarily acquired in order to put the students? ideas into writings, within appropriate methods and styles. The learning process of writing scientific articles is suitably acquired with the project based learning which assesses the levels of students? creative thinking. The research aims to explain aims to explain the effectiveness of learning process in writing scientific articles with the project based learning and the levels of students? creative thinking. The research applied quasi experiment. The data were collected using purposive sampling method. The data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests. The sample were analyzed using normality and homogeneity tests. Finally, the data were analyzed using paired t-test. All of them were analyzed using paired t-test. All the tests used SPSS 25 test program the results of the research were concluded by applying the project based learning and the levels of students? creative thinking on students? writing practices. The results found that learning to write scientific articles using the project based learning effectively affect students with a high level of creative thinking that those with medium and low levels. The benefits of this research were to enrich the thesaurus theory of learning to write scientific articles based on the level of students? creative thinking more effectively.

Abstract

A skill to conclude the content of procedural text owned by students to understand the meaning of the text. Learning by using investigation group model is appropriate to learning styles of students. This research aims to analyze concluding skill of students dealing with the text by using investigation group model based on students? learning styles. This quasi experimental research used several data collection techniques, such as questionnaire guidance, observation guidance, documentation, and interview guidance. The data analysis used validity and reliability tests while the sample test used normality and homogeneity test. The final data was analyzed by using one way anova to find out the effectiveness comparison of the learning based on students? learning styles. The findings showed that visual typed students got average score 79, auditory typed students 82.4, and kinesthetic typed students 77.8. Learning the skill to conclude procedural text by using the model was effective to be implemented for auditory typed students. This research is expected to enrich theoretical knowledge of learning to conclude procedural text based on the effective learning styles of students..

Abstract

Language is human nature, meaning that language as a means of verbal communication is only possessed by humans. The politeness of speech spoken by state officials in Q and A Metro TV talkshow is an interesting phenomenon to be studied from a pragmatic perspective since social and verbal interactions of state officials will appear as natural as possible when state officials communicate with hosts and panelists. This study analyzed the forms and types of violations and the obedience of Leech maxim politeness of state officials in Q and A Metro TV Talk Show. The study was analyzed using a pragmatic and descriptive qualitative approach. The data was collected by listening and note-taking. The data analysis techniques in this study was normative technique. The obedience with the principle of politeness can be found in the maxim of generosity, the maxim of acceptance, the maxim of modesty, the maxim of approval, and the maxim of sympathy. Violations on the principle of politeness are on the maxim of judgement, maxim of generosity, maxim of courtesy, maxim of modesty, and maxim of approval. The benefit of this study is to provide an understanding of the politeness of the speeches of state officials in Q and A Metro TV Talk Show.

Abstract

Poetry text writing skills possessed by students so that they can produce poetry based on freedom of imagination and creativity. Synectic learning model with the students? independence level is appropriate for learning to write poetry. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of learning to write poetry texts with a synectic model based on the independence level of the classroom students. This study used a quasi-experimental method with data collection techniques using observation and interview guides. Final data analysis used one-way ANOVA test to analyze differences in the effectiveness of learning to write conservation poetry texts based on the independence level. The results showed the average value of high independence students was 87.86, then the average independence learning outcomes were 84.63, while the average learning outcomes of low independence was 84. Learning to write conservation poetry texts with synectic models is more effective to be used in students who have a high level of independence. The benefits of the results of this study can add to the learning theory to write poetry that accustoms students? independence more effectively.

Abstract

Poetry is a medium for poets to express or utter their notions and intended purposes to readers. This research objective is to analyze the form, meaning, function of figurative language and image as well as the relationship between figurative language and their correlations in poetry set Melihat Api Bekerja by M. Aan Mansyur. The data were poetry excerpts which had appropriateness to problem sings. The data were gained through literature study and hermeneutic reading. This review of the poetry set used stylistic review. The findings showed: first, there were 76 figurative languages consisting of 27 similes, 17 metaphors, 18 personifications, 3 metonymies, 3 synecdotes, and 8 idioms; second, there were 77 imageries consisting of 41 visual images, 8 audio images, 2 smelling images, 1 tasting image, 19 palpability images, and 6 movement images; third, there were 6 correlations of figurative and imagery language. A significant founding in this research is a poetry collection Melihat Api Bekerja by M.Aan Mansyur can increase reader interest in figurative language and imagery comprehension. the benefits of these research for the readers to get and understand figurative language and imagery in poetry collection Melihat Api Bekerja by M.Aan Mansyur.
