Career Information Services by Using Interactive Multimedia to Determine Students Career Choices

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of career information services by using Android-based interactive multimedia to help to determine students’ career choices. Meanwhile, the method used was experimental research using One Group Pre-test – Post-test Design. For more, the subjects of this study were chosen randomly (using random sampling) from 35 students of the Tenth Grade Level or Class X of Senior High School (SMA) 1 Kudus. The hypotheses of this study which were tested by using t-test paired samples showed that there was an improvement in students’ career decision making ability. It was proven by the data before they learned the Android-based interactive multimedia (M = 86.89; SD = 19.76) and after learning the Android-based interactive multimedia (M = 109.71; SD = 11.36; t(35) = -9.328, p < 0.05). These findings conclude that Android-based interactive multimedia is effective to improve the ability of students’ career decision making on career information services given to the Tenth Grade Level students of SMA 1 Kudus. Also, this study clarifies that the career information services by using interactive multimedia are applicable to students in career decision making.
Guidance Group Based on Islamic Teachings with Simulation Game Techniques to Improve Interpersonal Communication

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group guidance based on Islamic teachings with simulation game techniques in improving student interpersonal communication. The experimental research method uses the design of One Pre-test – Post-test Design with a purposive sampling technique to determine the research subjects of VII grade Madrasah Tsanawiyah as many as 10 people who have low interpersonal communication. Validation of this experimental study with guidance and counseling experts, and MTs level counselors in Kudus Regency. The results of this study indicate that interpersonal communication of students before being given group guidance based on Islamic teaching simulation techniques, the average interpersonal communication amounted to 107.71 (SD = 8.51), then increase after group guidance based on Islamic teaching amounted to 136.86 (SD = 9.02). The paired sample t-test results showed group guidance based on Islamic teaching effective simulation techniques to improve interpersonal communication of MTs students (t(9) = 14.93, p < 0.01). This study confirms that group guidance based on Islamic teaching with simulation techniques can be applied to improve student interpersonal communication.
Information on Advanced Study Assisted by Adobe Flash Media to Increase Motivation for Advanced Studies

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of information services in advanced studies assisted by Adobe Flash media in increasing motivation for further studies in high school students. The experimental research method uses the design of one group pre-test – post-test involving 8 students who have very low motivation for further study. The results of this study indicate that the motivation of further study of students before being given information on further study assisted by Adobe Flash media, the average motivation for further study was 94.25 (SD = 6.29), then an increase after being given information services with Adobe Flash assisted study of 294.25 (SD = 9.57). The paired sample t-test results showed that Adobe Flash assisted information services were effective in increasing the motivation of further study of high school students (t(7) = 51.396, p < 0.01). This study confirms that information services for further studies assisted by Adobe Flash media can be applied to increase the motivation for further studies of high school students.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the model of group counseling with psychodrama and sociodrama techniques to improve Senior High School students’ emotional intelligence. Moreover, the method used in this study was quasi-experimental by using One Group Pre-test – Post-test design involving 15 students of the tenth grade of Public Vocational High School 1 Donorojo (SMK Negeri 1 Donorojo) chosen through purposive sampling technique. Further, the data normality test was done by using Kolmogorov-Smirnov, and the effectiveness of the model was done by using the Wilcoxon signed rank test. The results showed that the model of group counseling with psychodrama and sociodrama techniques was effective to improve students’ emotional intelligence (z = 3.409, p < 0.01). At last, the discussion of the findings of this study is aimed at asserting the effectiveness of the model of group counseling with psychodrama and sociodrama techniques to improve emotional intelligence.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ prosocial behaviors through Desa Bahagia (happy village) game activities. The study used experimental method with the design of one group pre-test – post-test, and employed purposive sampling technique to choose 10 students of the Eleveth Grade or Class XI in Senior High School as the research subjects. Further, based on data analysis, it was known that group counselling with Desa Bahagia game was proved effective to improve students’ prosocial behaviors, showing (z = -2.805, p < 0.01). These findings assert that group guidance with Desa Bahagia game can be an effective alternative to maximize the quality of group guidance service.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know the effectiveness of group counseling with self-talk technique to improve students’ career aspiration and efficacy. This experimental study used pre-test – post-test group design by involving 14 students of Al Falah Vocational High School Winong Pati (SMK Al Falah Winong Pati) as the members of the group. Moreover, the research was done by testing repeated measures MANOVA showed that group counseling with self-talk technique was effective to improve students’ career aspiration and efficacy. At last, the discussion of the findings of this study is directed to assert the effectiveness of group counseling with self-talk technique to improve students’ career aspiration and efficacy.
