Abstract

One cause damage to fruit on cultivated plants is the fruit fly, Drosophila sp. Losses caused by fruit fly Drosophila sp in Indonesia is still limited. But the FAO reports that in Japan has cost approximately 32 million U.S. dollars or IDR 250 trillion to control these fruit flies. Some researchers have obtained information about the food of predators (birds nest) as an insect the size below 5 mm. This research aims to identify and isolate D. melanogaster in a natural culture medium of shoes banana, star fruit and guava as well as knowing the number of population D. melanogaster as well as calorific value, proteins, fats, carbohydrates and minerals from the artificial media. The research was conducted in the Kamangta Village, Tombulu Minahasa District with a height of 500 m above the sea surface and air temperature ranges of 26- 30°C. The research lasted 18 months, starting from August 2008 until January 2010. The results of this research are: 1). showed that the natural medium of banana shoes to give more positive responses than the guava and star fruit and 2). larvae of the fly life cycle D. melanogaster from the egg into imago is 10 days old while the change from egg to imago vary depending on environmental conditions

Abstract

Growth and development of white oyster mushroom are influenced by the mushroom seeds, planting substrate, environmental conditions, and media materials. A common type of media used is sawdust mushroom growers. Bagasse is a waste of sugar production as the highest cause of pollution (35%) but contains organic matter, minerals, crude fiber, crude protein and essential nutrients needed for growing oyster mushrooms. It is therefore necessary to study with the aim to determine the effect of bagasse as the mixed media production and quality of white oyster mushrooms. The experiment was conducted at PT Endang Mushroom, Tlogomas village, Lowok waru district, Malang city started from November until April 2011. The research used Completely Randomized Design with bagasse single-dose factor i.e. without bagasse/control (P0), 10% of bagasse (P1), 20% of bagasse (P2), 30% of bagasse (P3), and 40% of bagasse (P4). The observations made on the variables: time of fruit body appears, stalk length, stalk diameter, diameter of the hood, the number and weight of the wet weight of fruit. The results concluded that the use of bagasse as the mixture of sawdust medium effected on the growth of white oyster mushrooms. The addition of 40% bagasse was capable of producing fruit bodies appear as the fastest (28 days), the largest stem diameter (2.24 cm), the largest cap diameter (8.95 cm), the highest number of fruit (37.80 fruits) and wet weight reached 444.20 grams, of fruit bodies and wet weights did not differ erent as much as 30 % of bagasse

Abstract

Phalaenopsis amabilis is one orchid flower have a higher economic value commercial flowers. The aims of this study was to determine Plant Growth Regulators (PGR) in inducing flowering Phalaenopsis sp. Randomized Complete Block Design was used with three replications. Non destructive observations were made such as number of leaves and leaf area, initiation of flower spike, length of flower stalk, flower initiation, length of panicle, number of flowers bud, Number of flowers bloom, flower diameter, and percentage of flowering plants. The results showed that there is interaction between kinds of PGR and types of flowers on vegetative growth. The best applications PGR is BA 200 ppm inducing flowering 100% and accelerate the time of flower initiation 23 days after treatment. Aplication 100 ppm Paclobutrazol promote 50% in the percentage of flowering and 100 ppm GA3 promote 33.3% in the percentage . Effect of Paclobutrazol on Phalaenopisi only for type of purple flower
