Abstract

This study aimed to describe the quality of PBL learning assisted by monopoly games on students 'critical thinking skill, and describing students' critical thinking skills through PBL learning assisted by monopoly game in terms of self-confidence. This study used mixed methods with concurrent embedded designs. The research subjects were seventh grade students of SMP N 18 Semarang. The results of this study showed that implementation PBL assisted by monopoly game improve the students’ mathematical critical thinking skills. In the aspect of the process of mathematical critical thinking skills, students with high self-confidence are able to master the five aspects very well. The five indicators of critical thinking are elementary clarification skills, basic skills building skills, inference skills, advanced clarification skills, and strategies and techniques. Students with medium self-confidence, mastering four aspects maximally, those are skills to give simple explanations, inference skills, advanced clarification skills, and strategies and techniques. Meanwhile, students with low self-confidence, only able to master one aspect well but not maximally that is ability to give a simple explanation (elementary clarification).

Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of project-based learning in improving concept understanding through the creativity of making zigzag books. This type of research is a mixed method research with concurrent embedded designs. The sampling technique in this study was conducted by purposive sampling technique. Research instruments in data collection using tests, observation sheets, product assessment, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used the Normalized Gain test, Kruskal Walls Test and Simple Linear Regression test. The results showed an increase in understanding of the concept from the results of the pretest-posttest of students as much as 0.38 belonging to the medium category. The creativity profile of students resulted in the creativity of students in the category of quite creative. The magnitude of the influence between understanding the concept and creativity is indicated by the coefficient of determination of 0.320 which implies that the influence of the creativity variable on understanding the concept is 32%. One of the benefits of project-based learning can be used as an alternative model for learning the 2013 curriculum and zigzag books can be used as projects resulting from the implementation of project-based learning. In conclusion, this project-based learning can improve students' conceptual understanding and creativity by making zigzag books.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) find out the quality the ethno-mathematics of Thinking Aloud Pairs Problem Solving (TAPPS) learning (2) discover the pattern of mathematic communication ability the ethno-mathematics of Thinking Aloud Pairs Problem Solving (TAPPS) learning. This research uses mixed method type with concurrent embedded design. Quantitative and qualitative research runs together which the qualitative research is as the primer method. The qualitative learning is assessed from (1) planning and preparation, (2) classroom environment and instruction, and (3) evaluation (professional responsibility) stages. The result of this studies shows that the qualitative learning the ethno-mathematics of Thinking Aloud Pairs Problem Solving (TAPPS) is a good categorized. The pattern of student’s mathematic communication with upper group is a student who can explain their ideas and situation in written language appropriately. Students who can express their ideas and situation on the facing problem in mathematics model appropriately and correctly. A student who can use the mathematical formula correctly to solve the problem. The pattern of student’s mathematic communication with medium group is a student who can explain the ideas and situation in written language appropriately. A student who can express their ideas and situation facing the problem into mathematic mode appropriately and correctly. The student who is not able to use the formula to face the problem. The pattern of student’s mathematic communication with lower group is student who can express their ideas and situation in written language appropriately. A student who can express their ideas and situation facing the problem intro mathematic model appropriately and correctly. A student who is not able to use the mathematical formula correctly to solve the problem.

Abstract

Education is the spearhead of the progress of a nation. One factor in the formation of quality education must be balanced with quality of learning so that it has an effect on good student learning outcomes. The purpose of this research was to find out the benefit of numbered heads together (NHT) model assisted with audio visual media on the material of story elements in improving student learning outcomes of grade V. Data collection techniques was done by using learning outcomes test. The processing of the moderator variable test was done by using SPSS statistics 25 with moderated regression analysis technique with the first analysis by using the F test and the second analysis by using the R square value. The results showed that (1) the NHT model and audio visual media simultaneously influenced the student learning outcomes as evidenced in the F test of 0.000 < of the probability of 0.05; (2) the NHT model affects student learning outcomes by 38.9%, while the remaining 61.1% is influenced by other variables outside this regression; (3) The NHT model with audio visual media affects student learning outcomes by 58.4%, whereas, the remaining 41.6% is influenced by other variables outside this regression.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the positive character and learning outcomes of students in Civic Education by using the talking stick model assisted by audio-visual media. The type of research is a mixed method with concurrent embedded research designs. The qualitative data were obtained from are interview, observation, and documentation. The quantitative data were obtained from learning outcome and questionnaire. The quantitative analysis uses proportion test, independent sample t-test, and regression testing. Whereas the qualitative analysis includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results of this research were (1) The positive character of N-gain in the experimental class was 0.65 and the control class was 0.15 The most prominent character in this learning process was the brave attitude because talking stick model stimulate students to express their opinions while the character that was not optimal is responsibility where some students have not yet contributed to their group. (2) There was an increase in learning outcomes, proven that the learning outcomes of N-gain in the experimental class was 0.76 and the control class was 0.49. (3) The implementation of this learning model was 83.3%, students’ responses to every aspect of the questions was more than 75% and the average N-gain of learning outcomes showed that the experimental class was higher than the control class. The conclusion of this research is the application of the Talking Stick model assisted by audio-visual media can improve the positive character and students’ learning outcomes in Civic Education.
