Abstract

This study aimed to design an e-magazine containing High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) for SMA or MA students. This development followed the ADDIE process: 1) Analysis, 2) Design, 3) Development, 4) Implementation, and 5) Evaluation. The product underwent alpha testing with the help of two media experts and two material experts. Small-scale product beta testing involved ten students from class XII, with a field trial involving 22 students from class XI SMA. Interviews, observations, and questionnaires were used to collect the data. The data was analyzed using qualitative descriptions. The results of product testing at the alpha test showed that e-magazines designed by media experts have an average score of 3.55 in the very positive category. For material experts, the score was 3.36, which was very good. The results of the small-scale beta test gave an average rating of 3.56, which means this e-magazine has a very decent design. The field test has an average value of 3.6, a very positive category. The results of the student effectiveness test showed an average score of 48 for the pre-media test and 80.73 for the post-media test. The N-gain score obtained was 0.629 with the moderate criteria. It seems that this media proved to be feasible and effective in learning for XI SMA or MA students.

Abstract

The fermented kombucha flower telang (Clitoria ternatea L) is a functional probiotic drink with antibacterial properties. This study aimed to determine and test the antibacterial activity against S. aureus from the formulation of probiotic bath soap preparations fermented kombucha flower telang. This research method was carried out experimentally in an in vitro laboratory. The formulation of probiotic bath soap preparations fermented kombucha flower telang was made with varying concentrations of 20%, 30%, and 40%. The test for antibacterial activity against S. aureus bacteria used the disc diffusion method. The working procedure includes making bath soap preparations and testing the antibacterial activity of the probiotic bath soap preparations fermented kombucha telang flower. The results showed that fermented telang flower kombucha in bath soap had an overall antibacterial activity against S. aureus. The concentration of 40% was the highest in the probiotic bath soap preparations fermented kombucha telang flower with an average inhibition zone diameter of 15.5 mm. The average value of the diameter of the inhibition zone was in a strong category.

Abstract

In the teaching and learning process, teachers often teach using printed books, modules, worksheets, using LCD projectors, and have never combined printed teaching materials with electronic media. Based on the needs analysis questionnaire data given to students of class X MIA at SMAN 6 Metro, as many as 63.3% who have difficulty learning the material Kingdom Plantae. Thus, innovation is needed in the form of electronic handout teaching materials. This study aims to develop Electronic Handouts using Flip PDF Professional on Kingdom Plantae Materials as Teaching Materials for Class X SMA/MA. This type of research is an R&D (Research and Development) research with the ADDIE model which consists of five stages, namely Analysis-Design-Development-Implementation-Evaluate. The final result of Electronic Handout validation using Flip PDF Professional on Kingdom Plantae Materials as Teaching Materials for Class X SMA/MA obtained a percentage of 85.3% in the "very feasible" category by material expert validators and media expert validators obtained a percentage of 94.6% with "very decent" category. The results of the teacher trial obtained a percentage of 90% in the "very good" category and the results of the student trial obtained a percentage of 83.4% in the "good" category. Based on the overall results, the percentage of electronic handout scores obtained an overall average with a percentage of 88.32% and is included in the "Very Valid" category, and is suitable for use in the Biology learning process at school.

Abstract

Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) in the Food Biotechnology course to mitigate learning loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used a qualitative approach. The unit of analysis was the students' biology education who took the Food Biotechnology course for the Academic Year 2020/2021. Researchers used direct observation techniques during sixteen meetings. In addition, interviews and document analysis were carried out to strengthen the data. The data were analyzed inductively through three stages (condensing data, displaying data, and making conclusions or data verification). The research showed that food biotechnology courses were integrated with several sciences. Technology integration occurred in the application of various methods of communication and online learning media. Engineering integration was when students practiced techniques, tools, and materials to produce new products. The integration of art was in food production and the application of product marketing strategies. The integration of mathematics was evident when students weighed and measured various cooking ingredients to match the dose, then calculated the profit and loss in sales. It appears that the students did not experience any learning loss. It implies that the STEAM approach in the learning process can reduce the risk of learning loss in students.

Abstract

Ethnobotany is the science that studies the use of various plants by people living in an area, one of which is traditional medicine. This study aimed to determine the species of medicinal plants, ways to prepare them, and the diseases that can be treated with the plants by the Butonese community in Baubau. This research was descriptive and exploratory with survey methods and interview techniques to provide a detailed description of the use of medicinal plants by the Butonese community. The sampling method used was snowball sampling, where the interview was conducted in an open-ended form by referring to the interview table. The research showed that the Butonese community used 41 different plants as medicinal plants. All the plant organs are used, like leaves, fruits, seeds, stems, rhizomes, tubers, and roots. There are ten ways to prepare medicinal plants and six ways to use medicinal plants. Fever, cough, ulcers, wounds, and various internal diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancer, are among the illnesses that can be treated with these medicinal plants.

Abstract

Masalah dalam proses pembelajaran yaitu keterbatasan bahan ajar yang berorientasi pada student center karena bahan ajar yang tersedia hanya buku paket. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pra-eksperimen yang menggunakan desain one group pretest posttest design yang bertujuan untuk mengukur peningkatan kemampuan kognitif peserta didik melalui penggunaan e-modul interaktif berbasis Discovery Learning dengan pendekatan lesson study pada kelas XI IIS 2 SMA Negeri 9 Makassar. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 28 orang peserta didik kelas XI IIS 2. Berdasarkan hasil analisis deskriptif statistik pada saat pretest diperoleh rata-rata 63, sedangkan pada posttest diperoleh rata-rata 87. Peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik dapat dilihat dengan menggunakan uji N-Gain dimana data yang diperoleh berada pada kategori tinggi. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan e-modul berbasis Discovery Learning melalui pendekatan lesson study efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif peserta didik.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe an improvement in science learning outcomes with applied a joyful learning model for class VIII students at SMP Negeri 25 Cenrana. This study was a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted on 25 students in SMP Negeri 25. The subjects consisted of 14 female students and 11 male students. Data was gathered using observational methods and learning outcomes assessments, and then processed through a descriptive and statistical analysis. The results showed that the average value of learning outcomes in the first cycle was 62.6 and improved in the second cycle to 83.2. Students who completed their learning outcomes in the first cycle were eight, or 32%, and in the second cycle it became 92%. It appears that there was an improvement in the learning outcomes of science students in class VIII of SMP Negeri 25 Cenrana by applying the joyful learning model.
