Abstract

In West Sumatra many schools are extraordinary or inclusive and students in schools have different types of barriers among them deaf. Hearing impairment is a hearing impairment, in part or in whole that has a complex impact on his life. When viewed physically look like normal normal person, but when invited to communicate then seen that they have hearing loss.Deaf people have obstacles in hearing and are often constrained in conveying and receiving information in communicating. In addition, the number of children with hearing impairment is increasing in schools but the communication media for deaf children is still lacking (minimally) provided by schools. Especially in the school YPAC West Sumatra.Therefore, to help communicate with children with hearing impairment required tools or media in communication facilities, such as written media, print media, electronic media and using sign language in accordance with the mandate of Law no. 8 of 2016 article 24 on Persons with Disabilities.Keywords: Deaf, Booklet, YPAC West Sumatera.

Abstract

Sign system is a sign commonly used as a means to facilitate visitors to more easily interact with the environment. defines a directive, a command or a prohibition through symbols expressing the meaning of rules that are easily understood by the general public. A good sign system is a medium that can communicate focused information by considering alignment between color, letter, shape, size, layout and economically can save time and cost, and have a good level of legibility.The purpose of making this sign system is to improve the existing sign system to be more communicative in terms of font selection, color, layout, material sign system and also the location of placement sign system conservation area in helping facilitate visitors in the Pariaman Turtle Breeding when heading and being in Turtle Breeding area. The audiance target of this design is the Pariaman community, especially the junior and senior high school students. In addition to the background of more adolescent visitors who make educational visits, adolescents are also individuals who have good enough kongnitif skills so that delivery of messages will be more effective.This media sign system contains text and illustrations in the design. This design is made by using the theory of Visual Communication Design books, Layout, Illustration, and Typography. Method of data analysis performed is 5W + 1H obtained by interview data collection method, observation, and documentation.The main media in this design is supported by some supporting media such as: posters, pins, key chains, stickers, clothes, totebag, and notebook. In addition to supporting media, these media also serve as promotional media.

Abstract

Talempong Unggan is an art that exist in Nagari Unggan Sumpur Kudus Sijunjung regency of West Sumatra. The community does not recognize the cultures contained in the traditional art of Talempong Unggan and the lack of government attention in preserving the traditional art of Talempong Unggan become the main factor of the writer to make a documentary film related to culture in Talempong Unggan traditional art. The approach methodology departs from several literatures and uses the 5W + 1H method by understanding all information and a problem. So the selection of promotional media is more effective and the message conveyed is understood by the target audience. So all aspects are summarized in traditional art Talempong Unggan packed in documentary film media, so that Documentary Film Talempong Unggan Sumpur Kudus Sijunjung District became an effective and communicative media. Documentary film is one of the effective media because the delivery of information through documentary film more easily attract the attention of the target audience. The purpose of this documentary is to provide information on the history and culture of accompaniment with the traditional art of talempong Unggan. In addition to documentary films are supported by several other media that help mainstream media to introduce subjects to target audience ie posters, stickers, shirt, paper bag, dvd cover, dvd label, pin and backdrop.Keywords: Documentary film, Talempong Unggan.

Abstract

Railway is one of the alternative means of transportation in the city of Padang. At railway crossings there are crossroads, intersections, crossings and intersections between roads for trains by public roads. The railway crossing path for road users is the most dangerous location. Frequent accidents and casualties. According to statistical data from PT. KAI Divre II of West Sumatera, from 2013 to 2015 there were 130 accidents, from the number of accidents is the main cause is the road users are negligent in breaking through the railway crossing gate.Public service advertisements (ILM) are required to inform and warn of the danger of passing through railroad crossings to the public. For that it is necessary to design public service ads in the form of billboards. Billboard design is effective and flexible because it has a large size what is described in this billboard high level of legibility by the public. The method used qualitatively with 5W + 1H analysis.The purpose of designing billboards provides regulatory information and safety of riders at the communicative railway.Keywords: Designing, Billboard, Railway.

Abstract

The concept of edutaiment board game based on question and answer communication, in the game there are rules that support the interaction patterns among players, that is with the activity of mutual question and answer by means of stringing words to be a question of some game cards. Board of this game will be supported by some supporting media for promotional purposes such as packaging, rulebook, sticker, totebag, t-shirt, mug, x-banner, and social media instagram. Data were collected using the 5W + 1H approach to illustrate the results of the analysis used as the basis or the foundation for the preparation of objectives and strategies in game content creation.Keywords: board game, gadget addiction phenomenon, edutaiment game, social interaction

Abstract

The city of Medan is a multicultural city where its inhabitants consist of various ethnic and multicultural ethnic groups that blend side by side. This affects the culinary in the city of Medan which has a unique taste of the result of a mixture of diverse ethnic and ethnic groups. Besides famous for its durian, there are many more diverse culinary attractions in the city of Medan. Historical journey, the city of Medan bequeathed a number of buildings of historical value.The selection of audio-visual media as the final work aims to generate effective and informative promotion in the form of audio-visual media. The design of this audio visual media can be a media promotion of tourist attractions of Medan City so that later attractions of Medan City are better known to the general public, especially the target audience outside the city of Medan. Through this design can inform the target audience of any tourist attraction in the city of Medan. Then proceed with data analysis method by using SWOT analysis (strenght, weakness, opportunity, threats). Further concludes data analysis and creative approach (mainstream and supporting media).The design of audio visual media is expected to attract the attention of the audience audience, especially the community outside the city of Medan, considering the media campaigns based on audio visual media is very likely and a big influence in improving the promotion coupled with supporting media such as Kaos, Totebag, Mug, Keychains, Stickers , Notebook, Poster, Cover CD.Keyword: Design, Medan City Tourism Promotion, Audio Visual Media.

Abstract

Laing Park tree house is the first tourism destination in Solok Town using tree house theme. Laing Park tree house has many potentials, started from the pleasantness, naturalness, peacefulness and creativity. Up until now, the potentials of Laing Park tree house have not been known and realized by the majority people caused by the lack of promotion by the owner. Thus, it is needed to design the visual branding to give certain identity so that the target audience or the visitor can see and feel what image that the Laing Park tree house presents. Designing the visual branding of Laing Park tree house started with establishing the visual identity of that tourism destination such as logo, promotion media that has not been used before, and resetting the layout and the typography that will be used in the visual communication media. Those are the backgrounds that based this visual branding design.The analysis methods that is chosen in designing the visual branding od Laing Park tree house is Swot (strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threat). This method is used to find the strengths, weakness, potentials, and the danger that Laing Park tree house has also to find the distinguishing factors it has with other tourism destination.The result of designing the visual branding of Laing Park tree house is a logo that is applied in the prime media, which is a manual book of Laing Park tree house, also with the supporting media such as stationary set namely name card, envelope, letter sheet, file folder, and other supporting media such as sign syatem, infographic, safety sign, sticker, ticket, dlyer, scarf, and pin.Key search: Visual Branding, Laing Park Tree House, Logo, Sign System

Abstract

Nyarai Waterfall is one the tourism object that is located in Lubuk Alung, Padang Pariaman regency. To enter this tourist site, the visitors have to tracking in Gamaran Forest, Lubuk Alung. During the journey, the visitors will be given the wonderfull scenery to take a picture and also the visitors can take a rest on the road. The promotion that has been done by the organizer and goverment does not catch the audience target yet. As the result, it is important to make a media promotion such as documentary film to give an ilustration of the atmosphere as long as the journey to reach the location of  Nyarai waterfall. In addition, it will be provide by some another media to help the main media to promote this subject to audiences, like billboard, CD cover and CD label, T-Shirt, X-Banner, pin, stickers and buff and the drink bottle.This documentary film aimed to give information to audience target to feel the sensation of the journey to reach the location of Nyarai waterfall in Lubuk Alung. This film describe about the road about the beginning untill finished. Also, all of the rute will be ilustrate in this documentary film.The method that used in this study is SWOT analysis as the basic concepts to solve the problem. SWOT analysis is discuss about the strength, weakness, opportunities, and threats. The purpose of SWOT analysis is to give the ilustration of the findings. This analysis is used as the basic concept in arranging the objective and the planning strategies. Then, the aspects which is included in Nyarai waterfal tourism object can be combined in to documentary film. The documentary film of Nyarai Waterfall can be efective and communicative media.

Abstract

Public service announcement, usually called PSA, is used to convey information, to urge or to educate the public, and the final goal of it is not to get the economic advantage, but rather the social advantage. One of the examples of public service announcement is the announcement about drug abuse delivered through motion graphic, which will be available in Padang in the future.At this present, drug abuse is something common for people in Indonesia especially in Padang. One of the causes of being easily entangled in the drug abuse is the lack of knowledge and information about it. The information should be given in such a way that it is easily understood. One of the ways is by using public service announcement with motion graphic.Designing public service announcement about drug abuse with motion graphic aimed at informing societies especially those from the age of 19 to 45 about the dangers of consuming drugs which lead them to addiction. Besides, it provided new solution in delivering the announcement about drug abuse using motion graphic.Other than using motion graphic as the main medium, this design also used other supporting media such as poster, x-banner, t-shirt, pin, mug, tote bag, and sticker as the supplements to the main medium and the promotional media.Keywords: Public Service Announcement, Motion Graphic, Drug.

Abstract

The purpose of this study were to: (1) describe icon, symbol, index that appear in design book cover Tetralogy of Novel Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata and (2) describe visual element that appear in design book cover of Novel Laskar Pelangi by Andrea Hirata.This research used a qualitative with descriptive intrepretative method, the data collected in the form of word and images and then explained the meaning with interpretation or construe in paragraph and in table form. Data source obtained from: (1) Laskar Pelangi, (2) Sang Pemimpi, (3) Edensor, and (4) Maryamah Karpov by Andrea Hirata that published by Penerbit Bentang. The theory used is the semiotic by Peirce who divide between sign and referent into three categories: icon, symbol and index is a sign that the related between the marker and the marker is the same shape.Key Word: Design, Cover, Visual, Semotic
