Abstract

This study aimed to: (1) describe how the bookmobile operations in the Office of Library Archives and Documentation Padang, (2) describe what benefits students in elementary school to 23 Ampalu Pengambiran city of Padang with the bookmobile in the Archives Library and Documentation Padang. Data were collected through observation and interviews with user and Librarians Library Archives and Documentation Office of the city of Padang. Analyzing the data be descriptive. By analyzing the data concluded: some benefits of mobile library services for pemustaka well as one means of promotion are as follows: (1) foster interest in reading in the middle of the community, (2) the bookmobile pemustaka easier to get the information needed (3) pemustaka away from public libraries can enjoy the library with the library, (4) the government can still understand the importance of education in the community (users) and be aware of the high interest in reading among children Indonesia. Abstract

This paper discussed about the retrieval of library materials in the Library STKIP PGRI West Sumatera. This study aimed to determine the process of information retrieval and facets used by user in search of information in the Library STKIP PGRI West Sumatera. Data were collected through observation and interviews with user who come to visit the Library STKIP PGRI West Sumatera. Analyzing the data be descriptive. By analyzing the data, it was concluded the following. First Library STKIP PGRI West Sumatera use classification chart DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification), but in preparation at the library shelf STKIP PGRI West Sumatera not by DDC, but based courses available at STKIP PGRI West Sumatera. The process of finding library materials or books in the library by user STKIP PGRI West Sumatera done by directly looking for library materials or books needed to rack available without using search. User Library STKIP PGRI West Sumatera search for books or library materials required by their respective majors. Abstract

This paper focuses on the role of librarians in motivating students to use the library of Tamansiswa SMK Padang. This study aims to: (1) find out what is being done and by school side also the of librarian Tamansiswa SMK Padang motivate the students to use the library and, (2) to determine what obstacles faced in motivating students use the library. The analyzing of data has been done by descriptive way. Based on the analyzing of data, it was concluded as follows. First, the efforts were made by ​​librarians in motivating students use the library are: (1) librarians conduct library-related activities such as holding a short story writing competition for students, (2) the librarian launce the guidance on the function of the library for the student, (3) librarians provide prizes to students who often use the library, which adds to the period of borrowing books for students. Second, the constraints faced by librarians in motivating students use the library are: (1) the lack of means of promotion in the library of Tamansiswa SMK Padang, (2) donations, (3) lack of cooperation between the school and the foundation, (4) lack of librarians skill; (5) the students interest in reading are weak.   Keywords: librarian; motivate students to use library

Abstract

This paper focuses on the needs and behavior of searching to information Department of Economics student who is doing a thesis. This study aims to determine the information needs and information retrieval needs. This paper is useful for Bung Hatta University Libraries to determine the information needs of students of Department of Economics. This study used a qualitative research approach. Data were collected through direct interviews with user who come to visit the space scientific Bung Hatta University Library at 08:30 until 10:30 GMT on 4 to July 5, 2012. Analyzing the data be descriptive. By analyzing the data, it was concluded the following. First, the sources of information used most often students of Department of Economics University of Bung Hatta is in the form of text books. Department of Economics Students visit the library in order to make or complete the thesis. Collection of books for the Department of Economics at the Bung Hatta University Library does not meet the need. The book takes students are books written with the Indonesian language. Second, information retrieval can be seen through the strategy used. Students stated that if the information sought is not found in the Library of the University of Bung Hatta, the measures taken or the student is to go visit the bookstore and visit the local library. Furthermore, the use of any tools, most of the students in finding information in the library is that they go directly to the collection with a look for yourself to rack collection. Abstract

The purpose of this study was (1) describe the archive storage system at the Center for Language Center Archive Padang, (2) describe retrieval system through the file in the Central Records Hall of Languages ​​Padang. Data through observation and interviews with the archivist at the Centre for Language Center Archive Padang. Data collection was done descriptively. The findings of the study are (1) archival storage system conducted at the Center for Language Center Archive Padang is not in accordance with the existing theories of the storage systems based on the system of the subject, system name, system number, chronological system and geographic systems. In doing archival storage system archivist Language Institute Padang just doing storage system based on the incoming and outgoing mail are resulting archives are owned be piled and disorganized and difficult to return were found. (2) through the file retrieval system is not fit for the tools to do the back ground using only archival agenda book where the archive search takes a long time because the archivist should find the files one by one in the diary based on time or archive incoming mail. Abstract

This paper discusses the Gathering System Back Collection In Library PT. PLN (Persero) West Sumatra. This study aimed to determine: (1) How retrieval system in the library collection PT. PLN (Persero) West Sumatra. (2) obstacles encountered in the retrieval system in the Library collection PT. PLN (Persero) West Sumatra.Data were collected through observation and interviews to the librarian at the Library of PT. PLN (Persero) Sumaetra Western Region. Based on data analysis concluded the following: (1) retrieval system library materials in the Library PT. PLN (Persero) West Sumatra is not optimal, it can be seen in the absence of the use of the card catalog that is useful to facilitate retrieval. (2) The constraints found in the retrieval library collection in the Library PT. PLN (Persero) West Sumatra, namely: first, the lack of tool retrieval of library materials in the library PT. PLN (Persero) West Sumatra. Second, the quality of human resources is still low, so that the quality of human resources in the Library PT. PLN (Persero) West Sumatra increased need to be developed by: (a) librarians can participate in professional activities (participating in seminars / workshops), (b) Librarians have lots of reading, lots of reading will be able to expand their knowledge, improve skills, improve skills and keep abreast of science Keywords: retrieval system; library collection
